Yem Maaya Chesave is treated as a new age classic by many and it is also the first breakthrough of Naga Chaitanya’s career. Gautam Menon who wielded megaphone for that project is once again joining Chaitanya for a new project.

There was very little buzz about this project except for mention by Chaitanya in some interviews. This untitled flick will go to floors from tomorrow in Chennai and the major part of the movie shooting will be done in the Tamil Nadu capital itself.

The first schedule is said to be around 45 days. Just like Yem Maaya Chesave, this film is also bilingual and will be shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil. Music maestro AR Rahman will be score tunes for this flick which will be produced by Gautham Menon himself.

Close sources confirm that a new face from Malayalam will essay the female lead in Tamil version. The female lead is not yet finalized for Telugu version. Simbu will be playing the lead role in Tamil version just like in the case of YMC Tamil.

Bollywood hero Salman Khan was sentenced to five years imprisonment in the “hit-and-run” case and the court’s verdict had received mixed reactions from the public and film industry. While it was proved that no one is above the law, we are seeing a huge support to Salman Khan in this regard.

We’ve even seen most of the Bollywood celebrities rallying behind Salman and calling the verdict “unfair.” People like Abhijeet and Farhan Ali have gone to the extreme and accused the victims for sleeping on the pavements. Their comments about homeless have become controversial and got boomeranged back to them. Our own Chiranjeevi was said to have lend his support to the convicted star by calling the incident as an accident and not intentional.

With so many mindless statements in the name of supporting Salman, the film industry has lost the respect for sure. Their immaturity in handling the hard situations like these was visible immediately. Seeing our loved ones getting punished for their wrong act is painful, but we can’t accuse the system. As someone said on Twitter, “Only wannabe Chamchas of Salman are siding him with their ridiculous support and causing more damage.”

Filmmaker R.K. Malineni says forthcoming Telugu movie “Dagudumoota Dandakor” is an out-and-out family drama that will unfold through the eyes of a rooster that plays an important character in the movie. The film, which releases in cinemas on Saturday, is the Telugu remake of Tamil film “Saivam”.

“The story explores the bond between the members of a family through the eyes of a rooster. We retained the core characters from the original. The film will also predominantly revolve around the bond between a rooster and a young girl and her grandfather,” Malineni told IANS. In “Saivam”, which was directed by A.L. Vijay, the plot touched on the vegetarianism angle, which Malineni says they’ve avoided in the Telugu version.

“We’ve tried to focus on the attachment within the members of a family. If people from a family are coming together for a reunion after a few years, the attachment they share is not quite strong,” he said. “Dagudumoota…” features Rajendra Prasad as the grandfather and child actor Sara Arjun as the granddaughter. Sara was also part of the original version, in which veteran actor Nasser played the grandfather’s role.

“Nasser was extremely good in the titular character in ‘Saivam’, but for the remake, we wanted someone with an image. Had it been a formulaic film with a hero and heroine, we could’ve retained Nasser. But here’s a film that needed to ride on the shoulder of an actor with some image, hence we chose Rajendra Prasad,” he said.

“What really worked in the favour of our film is the fact that the bond between the grandfather and his granddaughter worked much better in the Telugu version,” said Malineni, and added that the biggest challenge was to maintain the emotional pulse of the original in the remake. “I was initially worried if I’d be able to do justice to the film but with that fear, we worked hard to retain the soul of the original and yet managed to bring some nativity in our film,” he added.

According to Malineni, the bond between the little girl and the rooster will serve as one of the pillars of the movie, which he assures will entertain and also tug at heartstrings at regular intervals. “The mood of our film will be like the celebration of a festival. It has all the emotions that you can relate with six tastes or flavours in Ugadi chutney,” he said. The film is jointly produced by “Gabbar Is Back” director Krish and Ramoji Rao.

“It was through filmmaker Krish; I got an opportunity to direct this project. I come from television background and had worked with him on a popular daily soap. He liked my work and wished to work with me. It was then we watched ‘Saivam’, and he immediately decided to remake it,” he added.

The Supreme Court may hear a plea by a Mumbai lawyer seeking cancellation of the two-day bail granted to Bollywood star Salman Khan. The plea was mentioned on Thursday before the apex court bench headed by Chief Justice H.L. Dattu by advocate V. Mishra, appearing for petitioner Akhilesh Chaubey.

The petitioner sought direction that Salman’s bail should be cancelled and it should be heard by the competent court in regular course.  He also sought framing of guidelines so that the manner in which the Bombay High Court granted the two-day bail to Salman on Wednesday could be availed of by others too.

A lower court in Mumbai earlier on Wednesday sentenced Salman to five years in jail for a hit-and-run accident that killed a man sleeping on the pavement in September 2002.
