Rajinikanth’s Decision Stuns Everyone
In a shocking decision, Superstar Rajinikanth may sign his next film under the direction of a young director named PA Ranjith. Until few days ago, rumours were rife that Rajini will team up with his Robo and Sivaji director Shankar and this were looking all set about the film to go on floors very soon.
Ranjith earlier made popular films like Atta Kathi and Karthi’s Madras. Both the films were appreciated for their content and direction. The director, who readied an offbeat script keeping Rajinikanth in mind, met the Superstar through Soundarya Rajinikanth’s. Thoroughly impressed with the young filmmaker’s script, Rajini immediately gave his nod.
More interesting news is that the film will go on floors soon in June and will be completed within 45 days. The script is touted to be high on artistic values sans the usual style and flashy gloss that is seen in Rajini’s films. Politics Is Not KCR’s Cup Of Tea?
We have all thought Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is a shrewd politician; in fact, cleverer than his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu. But on Monday, KCR came out with a surprising statement saying politics was not his cup of tea.
“I was originally into cultural line. I strayed into politics unexcitingly,” KCR said, while speaking at the last day of reorientation session at Nagarjuna Sagar.
KCR said in thirst of knowledge, he had read over 70,000 to 80,000 books of myriad varieties and after becoming the Chief Minister visited a large number of temples.
“I used to carry a big bag of books and small bag of clothes as and when take up tour”, he said.
Exhorting the leaders to stay away from corruption and strive to win hearts of the people, he said the party’s ultimate aim should be to serve society.
“We did not come here to live for 1,000 years and joining politics is not just for money, which can be done so by selling even cow dung”, KCR remarked.
He asked the party leaders to mingle with people and help address their grievances and ensure that a bit of farm land should not go dry for lack of power supply.
“The politicians should learn to update and live up to peoples’ expectations by serving them the best”, he said.
He alleged that the previous governments did not think of giving any awards in the name of Dasharathi, a noted Telangana poet.
Lokesh Outsmarts KTR, Kavitha
Telangana Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj K T Rama Rao always hobnobs with foreign delegates and signs MoUs with several foreign companies.
His sister and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha also has a lot of fan following among NRIs and whenever she goes to the US, her publicity managers try to ensure that she gets maximum coverage in the media.
But both KTR and Kavitha proved no match to young Telugu Desam Party leader Nara Lokesh, son of AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in media management.
Lokesh, who is also convener of TDP workers’ welfare cell, is on American tour to attract investment in Andhra Pradesh.
He was welcomed by the Telugu people led by TDP leader Komati Jairam at the airport on Monday. Later, he attended a meeting organized by Telugu people at Beria where he explained about TDP government’s programs taken up for development of Andhra Pradesh.
Interesting part of Lokesh’s tour is that he has got an appointment with US President Barack Obama. He is likely to meet Obama on May 7.
The party leaders are now claiming it a big credit, which KTR or Kavitha could not get. In fact, Kavitha reportedly made an attempt to get an appointment with the Obama family, but it did not materialise.
Now, KTR who is also planning to go on the US trip very shortly, is learnt to have asked the Telangana NRIs, to lobby strongly to secure an appointment for him with Obama.
It is now a matter of prestige for him, since Lokesh is meeting the US President. For now, Lokesh has outsmarted KTR and Kavitha!
Rs 200-Crore Investment Riding On Superstar
Mumbai: As a local court is set to pronounce its verdict in the hit-and-run case involving the Bollywood superstar Salman Khan on May 6, the film industry is keeping its fingers crossed as an investment of about Rs 200 crore is riding on him.
“The film industry is hoping that nothing terrible happens. Either he is pronounced innocent or the least punishment is given,” said the trade analyst Komal Nahata.
His two upcoming films, “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” which stars Kareena Kapoor and “Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo” opposite Sonam Kapoor, are currently in the last “schedule” of shooting.
The 49-year-old actor recently shot for “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” in Kashmir.
Amod Mehra, another trade analyst, said Salman had committed to do four others films, including “Dabang 3” and “Entry Mein No Entry”, but these were only at the stage of announcement.
In all, an investment of Rs 200 crore is riding on Salman, who has delivered a string of box office successes in the last few years, according to Nahata.
The actor is accused of ramming his car, while drunk, into a roadside bakery in suburban Bandra in the early hours of September 28, 2002, killing one person and injuring four others.
The maximum sentence he can get is a ten years’ jail term, on the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
After Sanjay Dutt, Salman is the second big star from Mumbai film industry to get embroiled in a high-profile criminal case in recent years. He is also facing trial in a Rajasthan court for hunting a black buck during the shooting of “Hum Saath Saath Hain”. (PTI)
