Ganga Movie Review – 3/5

Share

Ganga is fresh offering from Raghava Lawrence’s successful horror comedy franchise. This film has raised lot of expectations due to the success of previous two films in this series. Despite low key publicity and delayed release Ganga opened to packed houses all over showing the popularity of this series.

Story:

Raghava (Raghava Lawerence) is a coward man who works as a TV cameraman. His channel plans a fake haunted house as a marketing tactic. They choose a dark, spooky house for this purpose and pose it as a haunted house. While they get ready to shoot, they start experiencing ghosts and spirits for real. As always, Raghava becomes the victim to the ghost. And the twists and turns that take place in the life of Raghava and the story of the film forms the rest.

Performances:

As in the case of Muni and Kanchana, Lawerence will be seen both as a coward and a fearless person (after being possessed by ghost). After acting in similar roles for twice, it is almost a cakewalk for the actor in the third time. He acted believably in both the roles. Needless to say, his dances are superb.

Tapsee is seen as a fearless TV director, Nandini and she is excellent in the stern professional scenes as well as the melting romantic scenes. Nitya Menen comes as a twist in the film and she is very good. Kovai Sarla is seen as Raghava’s mother and she is used to bring in some comedy quotient. Rest of the characters are adequate.

Technical Performances:

The core theme of the film is similar to that of its predecessors. Ganga has more horror sequences than them to make the audience bind to their seats. There are some logical errors which gets covered by the thrills and entertainment offered. There may be complaints about the comedy being loud but it will certainly work with mass audience.

Multiple Music directors – Leon James, Sathya, Thaman and Ashwamithra worked for the film and were able to produce decent album. Thaman took care of the back ground score and it is particularly good in horror sequences. Rajavel’s camera work is good. Graphics work in the climax are of poor quality. Editing by Kishore should be appreciated as it increased the pace of the film is good.

Plus Points:

1. Horror Part.

2. Tapsee Glamour

3. Good Background score

Minus Points:

1. Weak Climax

2. Weak Flashback

3. Poor Graphics

4. Loud comedy

Final Say:

Ganga goes on the lines of Muni and Kanchana but with more horror content than the previous installaments. The film will have its share of loopholes but managed to engage the audience with thrills and comedy. As in the case of the predecessors, the movie will appeal more to B, C center audience. Lawerence seem to have added one more commercial winner in Muni series.

Tollywood’s handsome hunk, Rana Daggubati came forward to support the victims of Nepal Earth Quake. The actor collected a fund of 2,17,620 rupees through an online fundraiser. Though Rana’s actual target was to collect 2 lakhs, but thanks to the unwavering support from his followers and Daggubati fans, the donations exceeded the target.

This money will be used in purchasing 40 survival kits and will be sent to Nepal very soon. We already know Ram Charan through Apollo Hospital had shipped large quantity of ORS sachets, glucose bags and cough syrup to the quake-hit people in Nepal.

Members of Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust and Mega fans are expected to join hands with the actor in this endeavour to help people of the catastrophic calamity. It is really great that the young actors and their fans are coming forward to help people in the time of crisis.

Importantly they have supported the cause even though it is out of the country. It is known that a 7.9-magnitude Earth quake hit the Himalayan country on last Saturday and killed more than 10000 people. The death toll is increasing every hour as the debris is being cleared.

jagan1 (1)
The behemoth among political parties right now is undoubtedly BJPwhich has secured handsome majority, ever achieved by any single partyin last thirty years on national level.  The manner in which BJP isbulldozing other parties is clearly evident with Congress not evengaining major opposition status.
Recently Mulayam Singh Yadav, Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad announced merger of their parties to form Janatha parivar, which gives themenough ammo to fight BJP combinedly using OBC and dalit platform. This consolidation marks a new phase in Indian politics for the first time after 1989 when regional parties started calling shots.
Now it is the turn of Congress, the grand old party.  It is an open fact that many regional parties in India today and their bosses were all from Congress who were suffocated within the party when they emerged as regional satraps. Sharad Pawar’s NCP, Jagan’s YSRCP, Mamatha’s Trinamool Congress are few examples.
Today, senior leaders of Congress party in Delhi have called icon all such leaders who left Congress to comeback to Congress fold, called Congress parivar. Sharad Pawar  has already supported this move. The appeal has now come to the ears of Jagan and Mamatha. Sources say Congress is ready to accord royal welcome to Jagan if he stages a comeback!
