Nayanthara’s Strength And Weakness

Nayanatara-2

A sense of humor seems to be the forte of Prabhu Deva and Simbu, judging by Nayanthara’s words.

“I like humor. More than the humor in films, I like situational humor. So if someone comes up with a timely joke on location, I cannot help myself from laughing out loud. I also tend to remember that particular person for the rest of the day. I also tend to trust people who make me laugh” said Nayanthara.

She thereby admitted that an addiction to humor was actually her bane and boon.

Nayanthara in the past was in love with Simbu and later with Prabhu Deva. Those men must have made her go crazy with laughter for her to have fallen in love with them.

Neelima Returns From Everest Base Camp With Tales Of Horror

A 28-year-old techie, who was stranded while trekking to Mount Everest base camp when an earthquake hit the region, has returned home safely but with tales of horror she witnessed on her way back.

Neelima Poduta, an employee of Cognizant Technology Solutions in Hyderabad, on Friday landed in Delhi.

She was part of the seven-member expedition group that had started trekking on April 20. They were at an altitude of over 6,400 metres when the earthquake struck the Himalayan nation.

“That day (April 25) we were on top of a mountain, close to the Everest base camp. There was trembling but we all mountaineers felt it could be giddiness because of mountain sickness. We did not think it was an earthquake,” Neelima told reporters at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in the national capital.

The group members returned to their lodge but still had no information that a quake had hit the region. The entire communication system was damaged and it was only from radio news they learnt that a massive earthquake had occurred.

Neelima’s family here was worried as she could not be contacted after the earthquake. However, the tour organisers in Bengaluru later informed them that she and other members of the group were safe.

“We later experienced many aftershocks and some of them were more powerful than the actual earthquake,” said Neelima, who was the only Telugu in the group.

She recalled the tough times they faced while coming down. “We came down very fast. We were trekking six to eight hours every day as we were doing on our way up but we were covering more distance this time,” she said.

They found that many lodges they had stayed in earlier had disappeared. “The transport system was badly damaged. The bridges had collapsed and we had to look for alternate routes,” said the software engineer.

The mountaineers were so terrified that they were not looking down but were just focussing on the next step during their return trek.

After four days of arduous journey they reached Lukla village and then Tenzing Airport in eastern Nepal. “We saw Indian Air Force helicopters evacuating people. We rushed back to our lodge, packed our bags and stood in the queue for our turn to be evacuated to Kathmandu,” Neelima said. After reaching Kathmandu, the group boarded a flight to Delhi and returned to home and safety.

Though shaken, Neelima is determined to scale Mount Everest. “This time we had planned only for Everest base camp. If next year I get a sponsor, I will go for the Everest summit,” added Neelima, a polyglot.

A trained Bharatnatyam dancer and a yoga practitioner, she can speak English, German, Tamil, Malayalam and Bengali besides, of course, her mother-tongue Telugu.

Screen Buzz: Who After EVV?

Share

Directing a comedy is no joke and very few people have managed to create a niche for themselves in this genre.

First and foremost is ‘Hasya Brahma’ Jandhyala followed by his disciple EVV Satyanarayana.

While Jandhyala was known for his clean comedies, EVV appealed more to the masses with a touch of vulgarity in his dialogues and themes. In fact, no producer ever lost money on EVV movies.

In fact, EVV only lost money when he produced his own movies to promote the careers of his sons.

After the death of EVV, there is a void in Tollywood that has not been filled by anyone.

Director Satti Babu followed in EVV’s footsteps but hasn’t had the same kind of success. And  the same is the case with directors Nageswar Reddy (Seema Sastry and Denikaina Ready fame) and Srinivas Reddy .

It is now the trend for villains and character artistes to do the comedy themselves. Wonder who the best comedy director after EVV will be?

Impossible For Me To Perform Like My Parents

Actress Shruti Haasan, daughter of legendary actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika, is fed up of comparisons with her parents and says it’s impossible for her to perform like them.

Asked how she reacts to comparisons with the separated duo, Shruti said: “It’s impossible for me to perform like my parents. You can’t compare — be it a father and daughter or anyone else. Everyone has their own quality.

“In the beginning of my career, it was not easy for me. People will come and easily sign you up because you are Kamal Haasan’s daughter, but if your film fail to work, nobody is going to stand with you. You have to struggle on your own,” she added.

On the big screen, Shruti is being seen in “Gabbar Is Back”, which has hit the screens on Friday. Talking about the film, she said: “I am quite excited because the content of this film is different. It’s about corruption and the treatment of the characters is very different.”

“Gabbar Is Back” is directed by Krish and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom18 Motion Pictures.
