However, in Tamil Nadu, heroes constantly experiment and this increases their fan base.
Superstar Suriya is doing a film in the direction of Venkat Prabhu titled ‘Mass’. Suriya is playing the role of a ghost in this movie.
And now, Suriya’s brother Karthi has signed a film ‘Kashmora’ which in itself indicates that it is also a horror movie.
It is indeed interesting to see the brothers experiment with a genre that is normally avoided by top stars.
The horror genre is more preferred by small filmmakers and those looking to create a mark with their debut films.
In that sense, it is quite a daring step by Suriya and Karthi.
Allu Arjun To Team Up With Boyapati Srinu’s Next
Actor Allu Arjun, who is currently basking in the success of Telugu hit “Son of Satyamurthy”, will next team up with director Boyapati Srinu for a yet untitled project in the language.
“The project was finalised a while ago. Srinu is currently giving final touches to the script. It will be a two-heroine subject and the project will be produced Arjun’s home banner Geetha Arts,” a source close to Arjun told IANS.
The makers are currently on the lookout for two leading ladies.
Apparently, Amyra Dastur, who was last seen in “Mr. X”, has been considered for one of the roles.
S.S. Thaman has been roped in to compose the music.
Nara Rohit in Telugu remake of ‘Maan Karate’
Actor Nara Rohit is set to reprise Sivakarthikeyan’s role in the yet untitled Telugu remake of Tamil blockbuster “Maan Karate”.
“Rohit has been finalised. The makers are on the lookout for the heroine. The remake will be directed by Kumar Nagendra,” a source told media.
The project will go on floors as soon as the female lead is finalised.
Besides Rohit, actor Kabir Duhan Singh has been finalised as the baddie. He was last seen in recent Telugu film “Jil”.
“Maan Karate”, a sports comedy, was one of the biggest Tamil hits of last year. It had story by A.R. Murugadoss.
The remake will be produced by Ashok and Nagarjun, who earlier produced Telugu film “Joru”, which was also helmed by Kumar Nagendra.
Samantha taking career threatening decisions!
Samantha is unarguably one of the top heroines in Telugu right now. However the slender beauty is squandering all her opportunities by poor planning. She currently has no offers in hand as she is trying to resurrect her career in Kollywood. But the fact is that she spilling chances here for trying to get some thing very high.
On the other side, it is said that she is contemplating to act beside Sundeep Kishan in one of his films. She recently acted beside a new comer, Bellamkonda Srinivas just to grab the big fat paycheck offered by his father Bellamkonda Suresh. She is also considering Sundeep Kishan’s film on the same lines.
Sundeep wants to act in a film directed by Vinayak on the eve of completing 5 years in industry to elevate his rank in Tollywood. But accepting the movie will kill Samantha’s career making her a second grade actress. While Samantha is yet to sign the dotted line of this project, her fans are very much worried about this decision and are warning against it. We will have to see of she obliges or not.
Bellamkonda’s car hits a youth; Condition serious
Senior Producer Bellamkonda’s car lost its control and barged in to people at Road No.7, Banjara Hills a short while ago. As a result a young lad was badly injured and was immediately shifted to a local hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be serious while the car driver immediately fled away from the scene.
The relatives and other people were very much annoyed with the incident and they vandalized Bellamkonda Suresh’s office in Filmnagar. The furniture in the office is fully destroyed. Banjara Hills Police have registered a complaint regarding this and are investigating the onlookers. They are also on a hunt for the driver.
This will be a spot of bother for Bellamkonda Suresh even though he is not present in the scene of the offence. He is already struggling with financiers over the release of his Ganga movie for the past two weeks. And now he will have a new headache to deal with if any thing happens to the injured youth.
Gemini TV bags Dochey Satellite rights
Leading Entertainment Channel, Gemini bagged the satellite rights of Naga Chaitanya’s Dochey. The channel had to shell 4.5 Crore for this deal which is considered as a big amount considering the movie budget and Naga Chaitanya’s market. On the other side, the movie released today in 800 theaters across the globe and received an average talk from the morning and matinee shows.
2014 is a mixed bag for Naga Chaitanya with the super success of Manam and disappointing failure with Autonagar Surya, he is keen on making amends with Dochay. There is good curiosity and positive vibes around this project in audience as well as in the trade before the release. But now with this ‘Average’ talk, it will all depend on the summer advantage and no competition at the box office.
‘1-Nenokkadine’ fame Kriti Sanon is romancing Naga Chaitanya in this film. Dochay is the second directional venture of Swamy Ra Ra fame Sudhir Varma. He continued the same team from Swamy Ra Ra for this movie too. Sunny MR is composing the music for this film. Richard Prasad is handling the cinematography. Attarintiki Daredi fame BVSN Prasad is producing the film under his SVCC banner.
Dochey Movie Review and Rating – Naga Chaitanya
A director with a hit film in his kitty is the most promising option for a producer. And BVSN Prasad says he was totally convinced when Swamy Ra Ra Sudheer Varma director narrated the plot to him. Then there is Naga Chaitanya who had a decent run with Oka Laila Kosam and Kriti Sanon who debuted with Mahesh Babu in One-Nenokkadine. Naturally, they make a most promising combination. So, does Dochey live up to the expectations or is it a lost cause, let’s find out.
Story:
Chandu’s (Naga Chaitanya) father (Rao Ramesh) is sentenced to life term imprisonment for no fault of his. Chandu turns in to a con man to pay his sister’s Medical fee and the money to save his father. When he is busy in his business, he comes across a crooked don, Manikyam who is a specialist in bank robberies. Manikyam executes one such robbery successfully but the booty unexpectedly lands in Chandu’s lap. And then the rate race begins for the amount which could potentially solve all the problems of Chandu. But then the rivalry intensifies between them as it is revealed that Manikyam has a hand in jailing Chandu’s father. The rest of the story is what happens in Chandu’s life.
Performances:
Naga Chaitanya seem to have put in good efforts in the film to change his body language, mannerisms etc. There is a slight improvement but the rigidity is still there. It is clearly seen in dances where the efforts failed to convert in to grace. Kriti Sanon is smoking hot but has very little space. Posani Krishna Murali as Don Manikyam, Brahmanandham as Bullet Babu and Sapthagiri as Lawyer managed to keep the entertainment quotient very high. Ravibabu is intelligently used.
Technical Performances:
Sudhir Varma is already a proven hand in pulling off con dramas laced with decent entertainment. He did it once again with Dochey but should have take some more care about the pace of narration. The run time is just 138 minutes but we still feel lengthy. We also get to see several influences from SWamy Ra Ra and many Hollywood films. However the comedy quotient and the twists in the story have been executed very nicely. The climax twist involving Posani is nice.
Sunny MR still seem to be in Swamy Ra Ra hangover. Despite the good visuals, all the songs are of zero effect. Back ground score is however good. Camerawork by Richard Prasad is colourful and technique oriented. Editing is good but some more trimming should have done wonders. Production Values are good.

Minus Points:
1. Slow Pace
2. Bad songs
3. Too many cinematic liberties.
Verdict:
Dochey has its share of problems like slightly slow second half and too many cinematic liberties but as a whole the effect of a reasonably good comedy and very good climax score the brownie points. A definite one time watch!
