Chandrababu Naidu has once again reached out to KCR saying all issues can be resolved through negotiation. He recalled that KCR had rejected his offer of power from Krishnapatnam and Hinduja power plants.
Why is Naidu who was once adamant against any power being offered to Telangana now doing the reverse? The answer is not hard to find: the power distribution companies in AP had bought power far in excess of demand from private producers at exorbitant rates.
The deficit of the power discoms is approximately Rs 570 crore. Naidu has to bridge this deficit. Hence the overtures to KCR! With KCR refusing his offer, Naidu had no option but to hike power tariffs in AP, a dangerous political move.
With the onset of summer and demand all set to peak, KCR might have behaved like a sulking child in rejecting Naidu’s offer for the moment, but practically speaking, he might be forced to accept Naidu’s offer soon.
