Pooja Hegde recently revisited her experience working on Retro, as the film completed one year since its release. The romantic drama starred Suriya in the lead and was directed by Karthik Subbaraj.

Marking the anniversary, Pooja shared a series of photos and short videos from the shoot on her social media, offering a glimpse into both the memorable and challenging moments behind the scenes.

She revealed that the filming process was filled with unexpected hurdles. The team had to deal with extreme conditions, including heavy storms, thick mud, and even a dangerous incident where their boat caught fire. Pooja also shared that she suffered a ligament tear during the shoot. Adding to the intensity, parts of the film were shot on an island where the presence of snakes made the environment even more challenging.

Despite these difficulties, Pooja described the overall experience as “peaceful chaos.” She explained that while the situations seemed risky and stressful from the outside, the atmosphere on set remained calm, focused, and positive.

According to her, the team maintained strong camaraderie, filled with laughter and mutual support. Everyone was committed to delivering a quality film, and that shared passion helped them navigate the tough conditions with ease.

Pooja expressed her gratitude to director Karthik Subbaraj for trusting her with the role of Rukmini and appreciated Suriya for his constant encouragement throughout the shoot. She noted that working with the right team made all the difference in overcoming challenges.

On the professional front, Pooja Hegde is gearing up for her next Hindi film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by David Dhawan. The film also stars Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur, and is scheduled for release on June 5, 2026.
