TDP Shifts Mahanadu to Nellore for Strategic Focus

Telugu Desam Party has decided to shift its prestigious Annual Mahanadu from Uttarandhra to Nellore district, marking a strategic political move ahead of key developments in the region.

The party had initially planned to host the event in Uttarandhra, but with Narendra Modi expected to visit the region in June or July for the inauguration of Bhogapuram Airport, the leadership felt that holding two large-scale events in quick succession could dilute focus and impact.

Choosing Nellore appears to be a calculated decision. Notably, Mahanadu has never been held in the district since the party’s inception. Traditionally considered a stronghold of Congress and later YSR Congress Party, Nellore witnessed a major political shift in the 2024 elections, with TDP+ securing a clean sweep.

The party leadership now aims to consolidate its gains in the district and prevent any potential comeback by YSR Congress, especially since Nellore—after Kadapa—is seen as a region where the opposition could regain strength if not strategically managed.

District TDP President Beedha Ravichandra is overseeing the arrangements, working closely with local ministers, MLAs, and MPs to ensure the event’s success.

Organizing Mahanadu, however, comes with logistical challenges. The event requires nearly 200 acres of open land, which is not feasible within Nellore city. As a result, the party is exploring suitable venues in Nellore Rural and Kovvur constituencies. Accessibility remains a key factor, as the event is expected to draw thousands of representatives and lakhs of party cadres from across the state.
