BRS MLA Jagadeesh Reddy Suspended Over Speaker Remarks

BRS MLA and former minister Jagadeesh Reddy was suspended from the Telangana Assembly after making controversial remarks about Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. The suspension will remain in effect until the conclusion of the Budget Session.

The controversy erupted when Jagadeesh Reddy stated that the Assembly belongs to all members and is not the sole property of the Speaker. He asserted, “You are just the head of the House,” which led to a sharp reaction from Congress MLAs. They accused him of disrespecting the Speaker, who belongs to the Dalit community, and demanded immediate action against him.

The remarks triggered a heated exchange between Congress and BRS legislators. Congress leaders criticized Jagadeesh Reddy for failing to uphold the dignity of the Speaker’s position and insisted on his suspension. As tensions escalated, the House was adjourned until noon.

When the Assembly reconvened in the afternoon, Congress MLAs intensified their demand for disciplinary action against Jagadeesh Reddy. They also reminded the House of the previous dismissal of Congress leaders Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Sampath Kumar during the BRS regime, drawing parallels to the current situation.

The conflict had its origins the previous day when Jagadeesh Reddy’s remarks sparked a debate. During the heated discussion, Congress leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy even attributed BRS’s electoral defeat to such controversial statements made by its leaders.

With tensions running high, the Ethics Committee is now expected to review the matter, and further action against Jagadeesh Reddy remains a topic of political debate.
