Catherine Tresa responds on Brother’s Suicide

Share
It is known that Catherine Tresa’s Brother Christopher committed suicide by hanging himself from the window bars of his room in Bengaluru on December 10th. The Commerce Student seems to be suffering from depression for some time and lack of financial support from his family could have prompted him to take the extreme step.
Weeks later, Catherine Tresa released a note explaining how important a role Christopher played in her life and how much the whole family loves him. Take a look at it…
Catherine Tresa:
“I lost my little brother Christopher, my best friend, confidante and companion on the 10th of December 2014. I just cannot think of words that would describe the loss. My family and I are unable to grasp the reasons behind my brother’s drastic decision and are in unbearable pain and grief. He was, is and will always be the most important person to all of us as he was the youngest. For the past two years, my brother Christopher was having trouble with parental control, turned rebellious and was losing interest in his education.
We thought this to be a teen age phase and not wanting to further antagonize him, cut him slack and afforded him due space, all the while having a safety net of other people watch him closely and take care of him. He even went on a spiritual journey at which point we were sure he was finding/discovering himself and were joyful at the prospect of his imminent return to the family. However it turned out that my brother Christopher went back to God instead and we are confident that Heaven is surely enjoying his presence as he was the purest soul I know.
He found joy in the little things, had the best sense of humor ever and would always make me laugh, no matter how upset I was. He was such a loving person who always saw the best in each person, irrespective of appearances. He was and always will be my inspiration, my support and my rock. It is simply very difficult to put in words what my brother meant to me! He used to spend every alternate week end with me and gave me so much joy.
He is my angel and the person I love most in this world, and nothing is ever going to change that….not even his passing away!! At this moment of great grief and sorrow, I thank all of you for your prayers, support and love. It is frankly what is keeping me going and humbly request all of you and your families to kindly pray for the soul of my darling brother so that he finds his peace and happiness with God in paradise.

Now, TRS Showers Love On Film Shootings!

Nizamabad MP and CM KCR’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavita on Friday made an interesting announcement to the Telugu film fraternity. In an attempt to floor them, Kavita stated that the Telangana government is contemplating to give tax benefits to the films that are shot in and around Hyderabad. Kavita said, “Discussions with CM KCR on giving tax exemptions to film shootings are under way.
He reacted positively and a favourable statement on this is expected very soon. The Telangana government is committed for the development of Telugu film industry. KCR is keen on building a Film City near Rachikonda very soon and swiftly taking steps in favour of it.” KCR had recently took part of an aerial survey to identify the lands for the proposed film city near Rachakonda hillocks of Nalgonda.
The latest announcement from Kavita has surprised many as during the intense Telangana movement several TRS leaders and party activists stalled the film shootings and movie screenings. Looks like, TRS is now planning to compensate this and erase its bad name.

Metro Rail: L & T to Complain to Modi Again!

Share
If there is anybody facing more anguish than the people of Seemandhra after the bifurcation of the State, it is L & T. The company has already invested Rs 4000 crore in the ‘Metro Rail Project’ and finds itself at the receiving end of KCR’s apathy. It can neither continue with the project which is becoming more and more untenable with each passing day nor can it exit the project. The issue expectedly is the realignment of the route in old city area of Hyderabad.
The MIM which as of now is an ally of the TRS has asked for a realignment of the route in certain areas of Old City citing a threat to heritage structures, the names of which nobody even knows. KCR eager to please the MIM or perhaps to revel in his new found glory of CM has asked Metro Rail to come up with a realignment plan. The Congress and TDP are vehemently opposing the realignment saying that the original route was scientifically designed taking soil strength etc into consideration and changes cannot be made at will.
While TRS politicians say that the ‘Metro Rail Authorities’ have been informed of the proposed realignment, the actual fact of the matter is that there has been no official confirmation from the government so far. The issue has been dragging for six months now and work along the disputed areas has come to a complete halt. KCR is unable to come up with a political consensus for the realignment failing which he cannot give ‘Metro Rail’, the go ahead.
Meanwhile, the company does not have a deadline before which they can expect a resolution of the issue and its costs continue to escalate. Earlier, when L & T threatened to pull out of the project citing harassment from KCR, the Centre put the project under the auspices of the ‘Project Management Group’ which works directly under the ‘Prime Minister’s Office’ (PMO). L & T is now considering approaching this ‘body’ once again for redressal of its grievances.
One fails to understand the lackadaisical approach of KCR with regard to the Metro Rail issue. Unless he offers a conducive working atmosphere to L & T to complete the project successfully it will cause irrevocable damage to ‘Brand Hyderabad’. He cannot allow parties like MIM to dictate the agenda of development. Unless he backs his statements with concrete action, there will be few takers for his promises of a ‘Bangaru Telangana’ or a ‘Vendi Telangana’.

His Music Has Lost Magic

Share
For any artiste or technician, reaching the top is one milestone. But once they reach there, sustaining the aura is rather difficult. Right now, AR Rahman is facing questions about his talent. At one time, he was praised as the most talented music director of present generation.
There were people who felt it was a huge honour to work with him and all top producers would queue up to get him to compose music for them. But of late, there is increasing criticism against him and many feel that he has lost his Midas touch. One such example is the music of Lingaa. It is widely felt that if the film had better music, then it would have worked at the box office.
Naturally, given his past track record with films like Premikudu, Premadesam, Bombay, etc, there are high expectations from him every time he composes music for a film. But Lingaa’s music is nowhere nearer to his range, feel many.
So, did Rahman not like the story to be sufficiently inspired? Or are people unable to understand his music anymore? Some say he has reached the pinnacle of his career and seems to be oblivious to other’s expectations any more.

Naidu Gives Green Signal To ‘Operation Akarsh’?

Share
Faced with an increasingly active BJP in Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu is believed to have given the green signal to admit leaders from other Parties including the Congress, into the TDP. One of the problems faced by Naidu is that the cadre and leaders are unwilling to admit their rivals into the Party fold as it would diminish their own importance.
The cadre also would feel let down if leaders from other Parties were admitted and given portfolios for it would undermine their own loyalty. Ganta Srinivas Rao is an example. But many leaders in recent times who were keen on joining the TDP have been turned away. Kavuri Sambasiva Rao wanted to join the TDP but the local TDP politicians opposed the move and Kavuri joined the BJP.
Similarly, Kiran, Bothsa, Harsha Kumar and other congressmen are all set to join the BJP. Kanna Lakshminarayana has already joined the BJP. Konathala Ramakrishna from Anakapalle is the latest person desirous of joining the TDP.
Ironically, this is being opposed by Ganta Srinivasa Rao. However Naidu is said to have put his foot down firmly and welcome Konathala into the Party. Naidu is worried that they might end up losing some very good men to the BJP.
Also, the number of Council seats is all set to increase along with the Rajya Sabha seats. That being the case, the TDP needs enough big names to fill those posts. Hence, Naidu is believed to have come to the conclusion that anyone irrespective of the earlier Party he was in, is welcome to join the TDP!

2014: Actresses who enjoyed primacy this year

Share

New Delhi: Indian actresses were on a roll in 2014. Ranging from the serious to the dramatic, action-oriented to comic, Bollywood’s leading ladies vivified their personas with novel scripts and made the movie-viewing experience all the more thrilling and entertaining. IANS lists the top female performers of the year in Hindi filmdom:
1. Kangna Ranaut: Her heartfelt performance in the women-centric melodrama “Queen” earned her a lot of kudos from critics and viewers alike. The film turned out to be a success at the box office as it bagged Rs.55 crore despite its modest budget. The actress appeared in two other films this year – “Revolver Rani” and “Ungli” – both of which did not perform very well, but her performance was lauded.
2. Alia Bhatt: Her sheer frivolity in “2 States” and her portrayal of a vibrant, free-spirited girl who develops an affectionate relationship with her kidnapper in “Highway”, has landed Alia amid a mound of praise. With three films this year, the actress made her presence felt in the cinematic world with Imtiaz Ali’s “Highway”, which raked in Rs.30 crore. The 21-year-old also appeared in “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania”, which received a lukewarm response.
3. Priyanka Chopra: The former Miss World and National Award winning talent showcased her versatile acting talent with “Mary Kom”, a biopic on Indian boxing champion MC Mary Kom. The film collected around Rs.54 crore and further secured Priyanka’s place among top actresses in present-day tinsel town.
4. Rani Mukerji: Her personification of the aptly labelled ‘Mardaani’ police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy, and her raw, unswerving and invincible rage against the child trafficking mafia attracted humungous praise from noted critics and movie-goers. “Mardaani”, directed by Pradeep Sarkar, was a low-budget film but it minted Rs.40 crore.
5. Deepika Padukone: The exuberant role that Deepika played in “Happy New Year”, which earned Rs.188 crore at the box office, appealed to the audiences, who were also excited to see the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika pair on-screen after they were last seen together in “Chennai Express”. “Happy New Year” is the flamboyant actress’ third hit with SRK following “Om Shanti Om” and “Chennai Express”.
6. Shraddha Kapoor: After “Aashiqui 2”, which released in 2013, “Ek Villain” and “Haider” turned out to be great projects for Shraddha Kapoor this year. While “Ek Villain” collected over Rs.96 crore, “Haider” minted Rs.50 crore.
7. Anushka Sharma: With the release of Aamir Khan-starrer “PK” right around the corner, it seems like she saved herself for the last, only to emerge as a promising wild-card entry to the bevy of actresses who dominated the year.
Her pixie look and jaunty persona in the film have received as much accolades as has Aamir Khan’s ‘alien’ character in the entertainer, which has set the cash registers ringing.

Srikanth Addala Is A Worried Man

Share
He has two hits to his credit, but his third film is still wobbly. So, Srikanth Addala is a worried man these days. Usually, it is the norm for producers to hold press conferences and talk of the collections their films are making.
But till now, Mukunda’s producers haven’t made any such efforts. Srikanth Addala himself held a press conference and gave out the figures. He announced that the film made Rs 3.4 crores on the first day, though inside talk is that the film actually made Rs 2.9 crores.
To find out who is correct, one has to see the daily collection charts. And these come from theatres to distributors, which will then be passed on to the producers. But they will not be available to others.
Well, collections, apart, there are doubts about Mahesh Babu experimenting with Addala after getting a huge flop with Sukumar’s experiment. Since Srikanth Addala was supposed to do Brahmaotsavam with Mahesh, now he is worried if the project will take off. This could be Srikanth Addala’s problem.

Modi appoints Committee for Peace Between Babu & KCR!

Share
The bickering and continuous rivalry between AP CM Babu and TS CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has reportedly caused worry for India’s PM Narendra Modi. Until now, sources say that Modi was hopeful that some problems would come up naturally due to any bifurcation and more so, with the bitter bifurcation of AP, this was expected.
But with central secretaries and almost all leaders complaining to Modi that things are going out of hand, Modi has reportedly taken this step. The committee would include three central ministers and one of them has been confirmed as Power Minister Piyush Goyel, while the other two are expected to be Water Minister Uma Bharathi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.
Modi is facing flak that the Centre has become a mute spectator while two states bicker and hence this committee would be ensuring that all issues get resolved at the earliest.
