Directed by: C. Sundar

Chandrakala is the Telugu dubbed version of successful Tamil Horror Comedy Aranmanai. Hansika, Vinay, Sundar and Andrea played the lead roles in it.
Story :
Madhavi and Murali (Andrea and Vinay) visit their mansion for one last time before they sell it off. It is a haunted mansion and many of the inmates gets killed one after the other in a mysterious way. Madhavi’s brother and Lawyer Ravi (Sundar) tries to find out the mystery behind it. That is how he knows about Chandrakala (Hansika) an innocent village girl who was killed in that very mansion. She was in love with Murali before she died and Chandrakala wants to get back with him by owning the body of Madhavi.
Performances:
Hansika has limited screen time despite playing the title role. She looked beautiful in that village girl attire. We get to see a different Hansika who has mostly done urbane characters till now. Andrea played the pivotal role in this film and she is good. She did her best to pull it off.
However we have seen better performances from actresses like Shobhana, Soundarya and Jyothika in similar roles. Vinay of Vaana fame played one of the male leads. He is limited to songs and few scenes. Sundar did alright. Lakshmi Rai doesn’t go unnoticed with her sizzling act. Santhanam did his bit on the comedy front. All others have chipped in whenever needed.
On the Technical Front:
C. Sundar’s old fashioned direction doesn’t excite much. He did well to keep things flowing despite age old story and screenplay. We expect an engrossing film with such backdrop, but Chandrakala hardly keeps you engaged. Screenplay is not impressive with far too many clichés thrown into the narrative. Music by Bharathwaj is good in parts. There is nothing much to write about the cinematography and editing. Dialogues are not impressive.
Analysis:
Chandrakala is a cocktail of many films that were made in this genre. Story and screenplay reminds us of Chandramukhi and Nagavalli. Unfortunately Chandrakala couldn’t match the standards of Chandramukhi. It is on par with Nagavalli at times. Glamorous heroines and noted star cast helped this film to score in Tamil. It will not enjoy similar fate in Telugu though. We have seen better horror comedies like Prema Katha Chitram in recent times.
Even Geetanjali starring Anjali is far better than this horror comedy that fails on many levels. Few scary moments in the first half and captivating climax are the plus points of this film besides glamorous heroines. The film nosedives in the second half with a very bad flashback part that is straight out of eighties movies.
Sundar made valiant efforts to pull things back during the climax, but it is too late by then. Chandrakala lacks novelty and looks like a badly made television serial at times. There aren’t many thrills in this horror film and the comedy is too bland for our tastes. This movie will fail to scare even the six year olds. Now you know what to expect out of this horror movie, right?
Verdict: Fails to Frighten!

Anushka’s yoga training is well known among her fans. Many say looking at a picture of Rebecca instantly remind them of Anushka and some even say the sculptures in Ajanta and Ellora could have been modeled after women like Anushka. While she keeps her body and mind in control with yoga, many are curious to know what the beauty queen eats through the day for her fit figure.
Okay, here’s the inside info. Apparently, Anushka starts off her day with a coupe of green tea and follows it up with a bowl full of sprouts. Then, she has any two south Indian breakfast items like idli, dosa, pesarattu, menapattu, etc.
Of course, goes without saying in limited quantities. Then in the gap between breakfast and lunch, she has fruit juices as per time. For lunch, she has vegetable salad, leafy vegetables. Later in the afternoon, she munches on dry fruits.
In the night, she has rotis accompanied by a raita consisting of carrot, beetroot and cucumber. Well, it might not look very fancy, but she is surely particular about her balanced diet in keeping with the ancient traditions of India. Of course, she is a yoga trainer after all!

Distributors Protest Against Superstar

Superstar Rajinikanth starrer ‘Lingaa’ was released on December 12, 2014 and the film opened up with negative reviews. Tamil media were busy promoting the fake collections for this film and finally, distributors of Thanjavur and Tiruchi have opened up about the losses in front of the media.
They said that the Eros International sold distribution prices for heavy rates and the distributors demanded that their losses should be compensated. Well, Rajinikanth is a Superstar and his craze is unmatchable.
But that doesn’t mean that the people will be ready to watch an outdated and terrible film made by KS Ravikumar. Rajinikanth has returned money to distributors at the time of Baba and Kuselan, we need to wait and see if the ‘Thalaivar’ will do the same this time or not.

KCR to leave India for two months?

Share
The buzz surrounding the so called mysterious illness of KCR seems to be gaining credence with reports in certain sections of media that Telangana CM Chandrasekhar Rao may be leaving for a two month long stay in the United States. Sources say that in the interim, Deputy CM Mohammad Ali would be made the CM in charge while KTR and Harish Rao would be taking care of day-to-day functions.
This information was reportedly conveyed by KCR to dissident leader Koppula Eshwar. It happened while KCR was convincing him recently after he was upset over not being made a minister. The rumor doing the rounds is that KCR may be suffering from a liver ailment, which is not being publicized at all.
In case, KCR stays away for more than eight weeks, then this may be a testing time for TRS in Hyderabad as the dissident MLA’s are growing in number by the day and it would be a challenge to run everything in the absence of KCR.

Tamanna to team up with Krishna Vamsi?

Share
If the buzz in Film Nagar is anything to go by, director Krishna Vamsi is holding discussions with Racha star Tamanna. After the average success of Govindudu Andarivadele, director Krishna Vamsi, actor-producer Prakash Raj and producer Dil Raju, who are friends off screen, have joined forces and planning to come up with a small-budget film.
Billed to be a female-oriented film, the movie needs a performance actress who could pull off the complete film on her shoulders. Considering this, Krihsna Vamsi and Dil Raju have approached Tamanna and discussions on the same are going on. Especially post the disaster Aagadu, Tamanna desperately needs a hit to bring her back to form in Telugu.
Since already she tasted back to back failures, Tammu is very careful on project and hence nothing has been finalised so far. Recently, heroine Anjali’s Geethanjali made on similar production lines set cash registers ringing at Box Office. Will Tammanna take up the offer? Could Vamsi bail her out?
