Joru, a small movie that has been making big buzz among the social media and film circles is out in theaters now. Sundeep Kishan, who is on a roll is back again with yet another entertainer and this time with three lovely ladies by his side.
Story :
While Sandeep (Sundeep Kishan) and his friend Namalu (Saptagiri) are going from Hyderabad to Vizag, they come across Anu (Rashi Khanna) who was just looted by a cab driver. They give lift to her and soon after she gets into their car, a bunch of goons start attacking them. Sandeep believes that they are after him, but realizes that they are actually targeting Anu.
Performances:
Sundeep Kishan:Sundeep is lively in the role of a simpleton. He plays the role of a guy who can occasionally use his muscle power, but puts his intelligence to good effect most of the time. He has excelled in dances and made a statement that he could become a bankable commercial hero in the near future.
Rashi Khanna:Rashi Khanna is very beautiful and no wonder she has so many fans already with just one film prior to this. She is extremely gorgeous in traditional wear and equally adorable in western outfits.
Others:Priya Banerjee and Sushma Raj got a role to play in the comedic drama during the second hour and they did well. Brahmanandam is fine up to some extent. We expect more laughs from the ace comedian when he has done a full length character. Sayaji Shinde is good as the bad man with comedic touch. Ajay is competent. All others have done their bit. Prithvi’s character should have been taken care of. He looks out of place with that weird makeup.
On the Technical Front:
Director Kumar Nagendra has tried his hand at comedy after making debut with Gundello Godari. He knows the basics of direction and does well to get the best out of his team. A better script could have given a chance to judge his capabilities as a director. Music by Bheems is peppy. Choreography is good too. Cinematography is vibrant. Editor did his best with the product on his hands. Producers have spent well on the film.
Analysis:
Joru starts off as an action thriller with so many chases and attacks involved in the road trip. Hero is introduced with a powerful fight and flexes his muscles whenever required. When the film gives an impression of a commercial potboiler, director switches genres to make it a comedy entertainer. Second half of the film completely runs on confusion drama with all the characters reintroduced with false identities. There are far too many actors on the screen in second hour that one could get lost among the mess.
There are few funny scenes here and there, but Joru disappoints on a whole. Comedy seems outdated and there isn’t any sparkling romance in spite of having three beautiful girls as the female leads. Song shot on all the three of them is certainly the high point during the boring second half. Good music and Rashi Khanna turns out to be the saving grace for Joru. This film did manage to grab the attention of common public.
The attendance on first day is pretty impressive for a film of this scale. However Joru may not hold its ground for many days as the film is totally disappointing. It is not easy to attract the audiences without a star. Joru managed to do that feat successfully but the film itself isn’t worth enough the buzz. If you can excuse the silly comedy and all that unexciting drama in the film, you may watch it for Sundeep, Rashi and songs.
Verdict: Joru could have been better!
