Priyanka will reprise Jaya Bachchan’s role of Mala in the revenge drama.Prakash Mehra had directed and produced the original “Zanjeer” and when it released in 1973, its stupendous success catapulted Amitabh into stardom.
BVSN Prasad is producing this film under his Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra banner. Reliance Entertainments is co producing the movie. Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music.
It is not yet clear who is going to direct the movie. Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu had resumed the trend of multistarers in the industry and Venkatesh is now taking it a step further with this movie. Ravi Kishore last produced Ram’s Endhukante Premanta and lost decent amount of money. So, he is very ambitious about this project.

If one has look at his string of flops it would be difficult to analyse as he has taken top films from top banners like Tooneega Tooneega, Shirdi Sai, Life is Beautiful, Rebel and more recently Cameraman Gangato Rambabu. All these gave severe shocks to Dil Raju. He bought the rights of Cameraman Gangato Rambabu for around 10-12 crs for Nizam region. But the telangana thunder struck him hard. Even before that Gaganam and Oh My Friend though got good reviews did not fill the pockets of Dil Raju.
Before that Dil Raju’s romance with Akasamanta, Josh, Maro Charitra, Rama Rama Krishna Krishna did not give desired results. Now he is left with only King Nagarjuna’s socio fantasy entertainer and multi starrer Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. It has to be seen whether Dil Raju will experience turn around with these two crazy projects.
However one wonder whether special roles by stars can save the film. Currently Nara Rohit is making special appearance in Mass Raja Raviteja’s ‘Sir Ostara’. It is a known fact the Raviteja is reeling under string of flops. However that did not stop Raviteja in making special appearance in Sai Ram Shankar’s ‘Romeo’. This Puri Jagannath’s brother is also reeling under string of flops. Trade analysts feel that special roles may generate interest in the project but unless until film has strong story line, cameos can not save the films from drowning.
Analysts cite the example of Manchu Manoj starrer ‘Ukodatara Ulikipadatara’ which starred Natasimha Balakrishna in powerful cameo. However the film bombed at the box office. Film makers better concentrate on strong and innovative story lines than all these gimmicks.
