Anirudh Ravichander, one of South India’s most celebrated and consistent music composers, has had a relatively quiet 2025 so far. For the first time, Anirudh is teaming up with acclaimed filmmaker Vetrimaaran for Arasan. The promo BGM has already created buzz, setting high expectations for the complete album.

With multiple high-profile projects lined up across industries, Anirudh Ravichander is poised for a major comeback year. 2026 could well be the phase that reaffirms his status as South India’s most dynamic and dominant music sensation.

Rashmika Mandanna Open to Korean Dramas, Talks ‘Thamma’ Success

Actress Rashmika Mandanna, a self-professed fan of Korean dramas, expressed her interest in being part of one, provided the project feels right for her. Speaking to IANS about the possibility, she said, “Oh, of course, I would want to do a Korean drama. That’ll be fun. But it depends on what they give me, because you know how picky I am with what I do on screen.”

Rashmika, currently riding the success of her latest horror-comedy Thamma, shared how her love for K-dramas began. “I think it started during Covid, because there was so much time on hand. Every K-drama has around 16 episodes, which means 16 hours to spend watching it. That’s when it began, though I don’t remember exactly when.”

Thamma, starring Rashmika alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Ayushmann Khurrana, is set in a fictional universe and features a crossover with Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya. The film is part of the larger Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, connecting films like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya. The story follows a journalist, played by Ayushmann, who gets entangled in a vampire power struggle involving Rashmika and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Rashmika’s recent release, The Girlfriend, is a Telugu romantic drama co-starring Dheekshith Shetty and directed by Rahul Ravindran. The movie released on November 7, 2025, in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Jason Sanjay is set to make his directorial debut with an action-adventure comedy starring Sundeep Kishan in the lead role. The film is produced by Subaskaran’s Lyca Productions, one of South India’s biggest production houses. The shoot is nearly complete, with only a song remaining.

Titled Sigma, the movie reflects the fearless and bold nature of its protagonist. It revolves around a daring youngster who defies societal norms to chase ambitious goals. The first look poster features Sundeep Kishan sitting atop a massive pile of gold bars and bundles of currency, suggesting a treasure hunt backdrop. His determined expression, bandaged hand, and slightly rugged appearance hint at a gritty, action-packed role.

Blending the thrill of a treasure hunt with the suspense of a crime thriller, the film promises a mix of high-octane action and comedy. Sundeep Kishan has undergone a complete transformation for this intense role and will also be seen romancing Faria Abdullah, while Raju Sundaram plays a pivotal part.

The producers are reportedly delighted with the progress of the film and Jason Sanjay’s direction. The shoot, excluding the final song, was completed in just 65 days. Music is composed by S. Akhanda 2 Overseas Rights Sold for ₹15 Crore; US Box Office Target $2.5M

Share

The overseas business for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s highly anticipated action entertainer Akhanda 2 is already generating significant buzz.

In a major development, the Overseas and North America distribution rights have been officially acquired by Moksha Movies and CineGalaxy, two leading distributors known for managing big-ticket Telugu releases in the US market. Industry sources reveal that the overseas rights are valued at ₹15 crore, marking one of the largest non-theatrical deals for a Balakrishna film.

The North America breakeven target has been set at around $2.5 million, a figure considered achievable given the cult status of Akhanda (2021). The original film not only became a massive hit among Balayya fans but also cemented director Boyapati Sreenu’s signature mass-action style worldwide.

Trade insiders suggest that the sequel carries immense hype, particularly in the US, where Balakrishna’s larger-than-life persona and Boyapati’s high-voltage action sequences enjoy a dedicated following. Distributors are optimistic that Akhanda 2 will surpass its predecessor, thanks to its grand scale, high production values, and pan-Indian release strategy.

With the film currently in post-production, promotional materials and release updates are expected to roll out soon. If Akhanda 2 opens strongly in overseas markets, it could easily cross its breakeven target and set new benchmarks for Balakrishna’s global box office appeal.

Vivek Agnihotri Slams Bollywood Over AI and Industry Decline

Share

Director Vivek Agnihotri, whose recent film The Bengal Files flopped at the box office, has voiced his concerns over the state of Bollywood. On Sunday, he took to Instagram to share a series of AI-generated art pieces inspired by old film posters, using them as a backdrop to critique the industry.

In his post, Agnihotri asked, “Who is killing Bollywood? Cinema isn’t dying, it’s being murdered.” He attributed the decline to superficial industry practices, listing, “Paid PR, paparazzi, spotting, wedding dances, brand endorsements, Insta posts.”

He also addressed Bollywood’s approach to artificial intelligence, contrasting it with global trends. “AI VS BOLLYWOOD? OTT platforms and studios are experimenting with AI-generated Ramayana, Mahabharat, and other AI films. Teenagers are even hosting AI film festivals. Meanwhile, Bollywood is busy taking selfies.”

Agnihotri criticized how stars focus on inflating box-office numbers, walking airport ramps, and performing at paid award shows rather than adapting to technological changes. He highlighted the stark difference with Hollywood, stating, “When Hollywood writers faced the AI challenge, they went on a 148-day strike to protect imagination itself. In Bollywood? No guilds. No outrage. No debate. No worries.”

He concluded with a reflection on creativity, emphasizing, “AI won’t replace artistes. It’ll replace the lazy. The real question isn’t ‘Will cinema survive?’ It’s, ‘Do we still remember how to dream? And, how to fight for our dreams?’”

Captioning his post, Agnihotri asked his followers, “Who is killing Bollywood? What are your views?”

The debate over AI in Indian cinema has been simmering for a while, but Bollywood, as Agnihotri points out, seems largely unbothered.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga Backs Small Film Jigiris Ahead of Release

Share

Unlike most small films that get just a one-time promotional push, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has gone the extra mile to support the upcoming comedy-drama Jigiris, which is set to hit theatres on November 14.

The film stars Krishna Burugula, Dheeraj Athreya, Mani Vaka, and Ram Nithin in lead roles. Directed by Harish Reddy Uppula and produced by Krishna Vodapalli under Mount Meru Pictures, Jigiris follows four friends on an unexpected road trip to Goa in an old Maruti 800.

Sandeep first released the film’s first look in June, followed by a teaser launch in August, where he personally attended the public event. Speaking at length about the team’s efforts, he wished them well — a rare gesture from a top filmmaker busy with major projects. During the teaser event, Sandeep shared his close friendship with producer Krishna Vodapalli, recalling how Krishna disappeared for three months during the shoot of Animal only to reveal later that he had already completed the first schedule of Jigiris in Goa. “He didn’t tell me because he knew I’d stop him. Making a film puts everyone on edge,” Sandeep laughed.

With the film’s release around the corner, Sandeep has further confirmed his presence at both the trailer launch and pre-release event, showing wholehearted support for a small project. His involvement highlights not only his loyalty to friends but also his humility as a filmmaker.

On the professional front, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is gearing up for his next directorial, Spirit, starring Prabhas, Tripti Dimri, Vivek Oberoi, and Kanchana. The recently unveiled audio teaser has already generated significant buzz on social media.

Quebec Permanently Closes PEQ, Shifts to Skilled Worker Program

Share

Quebec has announced a major overhaul of its immigration system, permanently closing the Quebec Experience Program (Programme de l’expérience québécoise, PEQ), one of the province’s most popular pathways to permanent residence for temporary foreign workers and international graduates. The Ministry of Immigration, Francisation and Integration (MIFI) confirmed that the two main PEQ streams — the Quebec Graduates Stream and the Temporary Foreign Workers’ Stream — will officially end on November 19, 2025. Both streams had been paused since October 2024, with a temporary extension to November 30, 2025, before the closure was made permanent. The announcement on November 6 reflects Quebec’s intent to streamline immigration under a single skilled worker system.

Quebec will also phase out three permanent immigration pilot programmes targeting workers in food processing, orderlies, and the AI, IT, and visual effects sectors, with these pilots concluding on January 1, 2026. After these closures, the Skilled Worker Selection Program (Programme de sélection des travailleurs qualifiés, PSTQ) will become the sole pathway for skilled worker immigration in the province.

MIFI clarified that applications already submitted under the PEQ and pilot programmes will continue to be processed. Selected candidates may also include family members, such as spouses and dependent children. Within the pilot programmes, only the Francophone profile of the Artificial Intelligence Stream will accept new applications until December 31, 2025, while all other streams have reached their intake limits.

Going forward, foreign nationals seeking permanent residence in Quebec will need to declare their interest through the Arrima portal under the PSTQ framework, which will feature four streams: highly qualified and specialised skills, intermediate and manual skills, regulated professions, and exceptional talent. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, intend to live and work in Quebec, demonstrate financial self-sufficiency for three months, and complete an Attestation of Learning about Quebec Democratic Values.

Quebec’s 2025 Immigration Levels Plan sets a target of 45,000 new permanent residents, with 64% of economic admissions expected to come from temporary residents already living in Quebec. For the first time, the province also announced temporary resident targets, projecting up to 55,700 foreign workers and 68,500 international students in 2026. Policy experts note that these changes reflect Quebec’s goal to centralise and simplify its immigration system, while aligning more closely with labour market demands and French language integration.
