Sharwanand’s Incredible Fitness Transformation for Biker

Share

Sharwanand’s transformation in recent years goes far beyond his work on screen. In 2019, while shooting for Jaanu, the Telugu remake of 96, he suffered a serious shoulder injury during a skydiving stunt. The accident required surgery and months of rest, causing his weight to rise to 92 kilos. What initially felt like a frustrating setback soon became a defining chapter in his life.

Speaking to Hyderabad Times, Sharwanand said, “The accident changed everything for me. I was on antibiotics for months, constantly hungry, and kept gaining weight. I didn’t realize how far I’d gone until much later.” Two years ago, when he was offered Biker, a film where he had to portray an 18-year-old, it pushed him to embark on a rigorous transformation journey.

He adopted a strict routine built on discipline and consistency—waking up at 4:30 a.m. to run laps at KBR Park, followed by gym sessions and evening walks. “For nearly eight months, I didn’t take a single break. That routine taught me patience and focus,” he shared. Fatherhood added another layer of motivation. “Earlier, fitness was about looking fit for a role. Now it’s about being there for my family,” he said.

Diet was another major challenge for the actor, who is famously a foodie. Over time, he learned balance. “I didn’t starve. I just made sure I earned my meals. Fitness is 70 percent food and 30 percent training,” he explained. Over two years, he lost around 22 kilos, roughly one kilo every month.

Talking about Biker, Sharwanand emphasized wanting to “earn the look” rather than fake it. The film, which revolves around a father-son story, also rekindled his love for bikes. He is currently busy with Nari Nari Naduma Murari and Bhogi. Biker is set to release on December 6, while Nari Nari Naduma Murari is slated for Sankranthi 2026.

Quiet Charm: A Heartfelt Village Story

Share

This film arrived quietly, without much hype or anticipation. Featuring mostly new faces, the lead Thiruveer is already familiar to audiences from Masooda, Palasa 1978, and George Reddy. Teena Sravya, the female lead, is known for Committee Kurrollu. The trailer was engaging and raised some expectations — but how does the film actually fare?

Story:
The narrative revolves around Ramesh (Thiruveer), who runs a small photo studio in a remote village in northeastern Andhra Pradesh. Across his studio is the panchayat office where Hema (Teena Sravya) works. Gradually, they develop feelings for each other.

The plot thickens when a local influential man, Anand (Narendra Ravi), comes for a pre-wedding video shoot for his engagement to a village girl, Soundarya. Fearing Anand’s reaction, Ramesh devises a plan to stop the wedding — a decision that drives the rest of the story.

Performances:

  • Thiruveer delivers a natural performance as a naive yet vulnerable photo studio owner, convincingly portraying guilt and innocence.
  • Teena Sravya is expressive and suits her role as a simple village girl.
  • Narendra Ravi stands out, balancing humor and subtle emotional depth with ease.
  • Master Rohan adds charm and energy, while the supporting cast performs consistently.

Technical Aspects:

  • The music stays true to the Srikakulam region, focusing on folk elements instead of conventional film tunes.
  • Cinematography captures the village’s essence, its people, and their emotions beautifully.
  • Editing is crisp, with a runtime of 1 hour 56 minutes, keeping the pace brisk and engaging.

Highlights:

  • Engaging storyline
  • Well-crafted screenplay
  • Narendra Ravi’s performance

Drawbacks:

  • Slight dip in the second half

Analysis:
The film impressively develops a simple story with twists, conflicts, and resolutions. Some events happen quickly, but this keeps the narrative moving steadily. Characters are grounded and realistic, without cinematic exaggeration.

While such films often suit OTT platforms, they gain charm in theatres, where the audience can connect with authentic performances and relatable characters. The first half moves briskly with intriguing developments, the interval delivers a twist, and although the second half dips slightly, the climax remains dramatic and impactful. A slightly happier ending might have made it even more satisfying.

The film’s regional authenticity — in dialect, accents, and cultural nuances — gives it a quiet charm. It doesn’t rely on commercial tropes, yet its honesty in storytelling and sincere execution leave a lasting impression. It proves that cinema doesn’t need grandeur to resonate; simplicity and heart can be just as powerful.

Bottomline:
A well-made, entertaining film with regional authenticity and sincere performances. It quietly wins you over and has the potential to capture the audience’s attention.

Verdict: Good Show

US Visa Policy Expanded: Chronic Health Conditions Could Lead to Denial

Share

Foreigners applying for U.S. visas may now face denial if they suffer from chronic health conditions such as diabetes or obesity, under a new directive issued by the Trump administration. The policy, communicated through a cable from the State Department to U.S. embassies and consulates and reviewed by KFF Health News, expands the scope of medical scrutiny in visa decisions. Applicants deemed likely to become a “public charge” — relying on U.S. resources due to age or illness — could be rejected, CBS reported.

“You must consider an applicant’s health,” the cable states. “Certain medical conditions, including but not limited to cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, cancers, diabetes, metabolic diseases, neurological diseases, and mental health conditions — can require hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of care.”

The directive also highlights obesity, noting it can lead to complications such as asthma, sleep apnea, and high blood pressure — all cited as potential grounds for visa denial. Consular officers are instructed to assess whether applicants have sufficient financial resources to cover long-term medical expenses without relying on government aid. The cable asks: “Does the applicant have adequate financial resources to cover the costs of such care over his entire expected lifespan without seeking public cash assistance or long-term institutionalization at government expense?”

Experts say the guidance represents a significant expansion of existing medical assessments, which traditionally focused on communicable diseases like tuberculosis or vaccination records. Sophia Genovese, an immigration lawyer at Georgetown University, noted, “Taking into consideration one’s diabetic history or heart health history — that’s quite expansive. There is a degree of assessment already, just not this broad.”

Critics argue the directive gives excessive discretion to visa officers, who lack medical training and may rely on subjective judgment or personal bias. Charles Wheeler, senior attorney at the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, said, “The guidance directs visa officers to speculate about potential medical emergencies or costs in the future. They are not medically trained and should not make such projections based on personal knowledge or bias.”

The Trump administration’s move aligns with its broader push to tighten immigration policies, including refugee bans and reductions in legal migration.

Canada’s New Immigration Plan Boosts Skilled Workers and Provincial Nominee Programs

Share

Canada has unveiled its highly anticipated immigration levels plan for 2026–2028, delivering a major boost for skilled immigrants and provincial governments. Announced on November 4, 2025, the plan signals a strong recovery for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), with nominations expected to rise dramatically over the next three years.

After a temporary dip in 2025, the PNP is set for a significant rebound. Total admissions will increase from 55,000 in 2025 to 91,500 in 2026, and stabilize at 92,500 in 2027 and 2028. This represents a 66.36% increase from previous years, positioning the PNP as one of Canada’s most powerful pathways to permanent residency.

The PNP remains a key pillar of Canada’s immigration system, allowing provinces and territories to nominate candidates for permanent residence based on local labor market needs and demographic priorities. Under the new plan, the PNP will account for nearly 38% of overall economic immigration targets in 2026–2028, reaffirming its central role in Canada’s immigration strategy.

Provinces such as Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta will see their allocations recover from 2025 cuts, while Atlantic provinces—Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland & Labrador—are expected to experience the fastest growth, with quotas increasing by over 65%. This highlights the growing importance of regional immigration strategies, particularly in areas facing retention challenges.

For skilled workers and international graduates, the plan offers expanded opportunities to obtain permanent residency through the PNP, with higher chances of receiving nominations and faster processing times. Candidates with Canadian work or study experience will be prioritized, providing a clear pathway for those already in the country.

The federal government’s decision to restore the PNP to near-record levels reflects confidence in provincial nomination systems and aligns with Canada’s broader immigration goals: meeting labor demand, supporting population growth, and ensuring sustainable community development. By 2028, provinces will account for nearly a quarter of all new permanent residents, solidifying the PNP’s role as a cornerstone of Canada’s immigration future.

Yoon Suk Yeol and Kim Keon Hee to Appear in Separate Court Trials on Same Day

Share

Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife, Kim Keon Hee, are set to appear in court on Friday in separate trials, marking the first time both are scheduled to appear on the same day since their arrests.

Yoon will attend one of his trials related to his failed attempt to impose martial law in December, as well as allegations of obstructing investigators in January and deleting secure phone records from government servers. He had skipped his two martial law trials since being arrested for the second time in July but recently resumed court appearances as key witnesses began testifying.

Kim, the former first lady, faces corruption charges, including alleged involvement in a stock manipulation scheme and interfering in candidate nominations for elections. She has been present at every trial session since proceedings began in September and has been in custody since August 12.

Both trials are scheduled to start around 10:15 a.m., but authorities have arranged for the couple not to cross paths, as they are being held at separate detention centres, Yonhap news agency reported.

Earlier on November 4, a special counsel team summoned Yoon to appear for questioning over his alleged interference in a military probe into the 2023 death of a young Marine. Investigators suspect Yoon instructed the presidential office and the defence ministry to reverse initial findings in order to shield a Marine commander from responsibility.

The former president is also suspected of helping former Defence Minister Lee Jong-sup avoid accountability by appointing him as ambassador to Australia in March 2024. The special counsel had previously requested Yoon’s appearance on October 23, but he did not comply, citing trial schedules for his lawyers.

The late Marine, Cpl. Chae Su-geun, died in July 2023 after being swept away during a search mission for victims of heavy rains, reportedly without proper safety equipment, including a life vest.

G20 Summit to Tackle Global Financial Reform and Wealth Inequality, Says Ramaphosa

Share

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said the upcoming Group of 20 (G20) Leaders’ Summit is expected to take concrete steps toward reforming the global financial system while tackling the widening gap in global wealth and income inequality.

Speaking at a question-and-answer session in the National Assembly on Thursday, Ramaphosa said South Africa’s G20 presidency aims to “foster a more stable, effective, and resilient international financial architecture.”

One of the key outcomes anticipated from the Johannesburg summit later this month, he explained, is “an agreement on strengthening multilateral development banks, such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and African Development Bank.” This effort will build on initiatives from Brazil’s G20 presidency to enhance these institutions’ effectiveness in helping countries achieve their sustainable development goals, according to Xinhua news agency.

Ramaphosa emphasized the need to address debt vulnerabilities in low- and middle-income countries, which he said limit fiscal space, hinder efforts to reduce poverty and inequality, and constrain investment in growth and development. “We expect the summit to make a political commitment to address these debt vulnerabilities,” he said. He added that the Johannesburg Leaders’ Declaration is expected to include “a commitment to further strengthen the implementation of the G20 Common Framework for Debt Treatment in a predictable, timely, and coordinated manner.”

The summit will also urge the international community to support countries facing liquidity challenges despite having sustainable debt, under a strong reform agenda.

On the issue of inequality, Ramaphosa noted that the G20 Extraordinary Committee of Independent Experts on Global Wealth Inequality, chaired by Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, submitted a landmark report this week. “The committee provided a comprehensive analysis of global inequality and recommended specific actions that leaders need to take,” he said. These include reforming international economic rules, ensuring fair taxation of multinationals and the ultra-wealthy, and establishing “a new international and independent panel to monitor inequality trends and ensure effective policies are implemented.”

Trump Plans India Visit, Praises PM Modi as “Great Man”

Share

US President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to visit India soon, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “great man” and a “friend.”

During a press conference at the White House on Thursday, Trump said trade negotiations with India are progressing “very well.” He added, “He’s a friend of mine, and we speak, and he wants me to go there. We’ll figure that out. I’ll go… He’s a great man and I’ll be going.” When asked if the visit might take place next year, Trump responded, “It could be, yeah.” Recalling his previous trip to India in 2020, he said, “I had a great trip there with the Prime Minister.”

Trump also noted that India has “largely stopped buying oil from Russia,” highlighting ongoing economic and strategic discussions.

His remarks follow recent statements from the White House emphasizing Trump’s respect for Prime Minister Modi. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said earlier this week that Trump “feels very positive and strongly” about the bilateral relationship, adding, “I know the President has great respect for Prime Minister Modi, and they speak pretty frequently.”

Leavitt also confirmed that Trump and his trade team are in “serious discussions” with India on trade matters. She highlighted last month’s Diwali event at the White House and the appointment of Sergio Gor as the next US Ambassador to India as further evidence of Trump’s commitment to strengthening ties.

“He recently spoke to the Prime Minister directly while celebrating Diwali at the Oval Office with many high-ranking Indian American officials. We have a great US Ambassador to India in Mr. Sergio Gor, who will represent our country very well,” she said.

On October 21, Trump hosted a special Diwali celebration at the White House, calling Prime Minister Modi “a great person” and expressing his admiration for “the people of India.”
