Sudeep Opens Up on Lack of Support for Kannada Cinema

Kiccha Sudeep, one of the biggest stars of Kannada cinema, enjoys a massive fan following not just in Karnataka but across India. He gained widespread recognition in Telugu cinema with films like Eega and has also appeared in a few Hindi movies. Known for taking on challenging roles, Sudeep has impressed audiences as a hero, villain, and in special appearances alike.
Recently, Sudeep expressed his disappointment over the lack of support for Kannada films from other language industries. He pointed out that while he, along with stars like Shivarajkumar and Upendra, often make cameo appearances in films of other languages—sometimes even without remuneration—the same level of support is rarely reciprocated for Kannada cinema. According to him, genuine mutual backing is missing.
Sudeep revealed that he had hoped actors from other industries would make cameo appearances in his latest release, Mark, which hit theatres as a Christmas treat. However, his requests reportedly went unheeded. The film opened decently at the box office, but mixed reviews suggest it may face challenges sustaining its run.
Prabhas’ Self-Troll and Praise for Maruthi Steal the Show

Prabhas is known for keeping his public speeches short, casual, and relaxed. Lengthy or overly emotional addresses have never really been his style. Instead, he prefers to keep the atmosphere light and entertaining. This time, however, he took things a step further by poking fun at himself.
Addressing his fans, Prabhas said, “I know people say my speeches are always the same and that they get boring, so everyone starts chanting ‘Baahubali Jai Ho.’ One day, I’ll come on stage and truly entertain you—you’ll all be shocked.” With this remark, he playfully acknowledged the criticism and won cheers for his self-deprecating humor.
He also cracked a light-hearted joke about music director Thaman, who attended the event dressed in a suit. Prabhas joked that he doesn’t have the confidence to wear a suit to such functions like Thaman does. He humorously added that despite having nearly 200 outfits in his wardrobe, he still ends up wearing simple clothes, wondering if dressing up too much might feel over the top. He concluded by saying that he needs Thaman’s confidence to pull off a suit.
Later, Prabhas showered praise on director Maruthi, applauding his work on The Raja Saab. He remarked that Maruthi didn’t write the film’s climax with a pen, but with a machine gun, highlighting the sheer power and intensity of the climax sequence.
Akhanda 2 Crosses $1M Overseas but Ends as Major Flop

A few years ago, crossing the $1 million mark overseas was considered a major milestone for Telugu cinema. For a long time, a $1 million overseas gross served as a key benchmark of success for several Telugu stars, including Nandamuri Balakrishna.
However, following the strong performance of some of his recent films, producers and distributors significantly raised expectations. This shift also led to Balakrishna’s films commanding much higher prices in the overseas market.
Riding on the proven success of the Balakrishna–Boyapati Srinu combination and the sequel factor, the overseas rights of Akhanda 2 were acquired for an astronomical amount. Even after selling the film to multiple international territories, the project needed to collect around $1.6 million overseas to reach the break-even point.
Unfortunately, Akhanda 2 struggled at the box office and took a considerable amount of time to even reach the $1 million mark. The film eventually crossed the milestone only 24 days after its release.
While this marked Balakrishna’s fifth film to achieve a $1 million overseas gross, it also ended up being a major commercial disappointment. Reports suggest that the overseas distributor suffered losses exceeding ₹5 crore on the deal.
Three Actresses Who Became National Crushes This Year

This year saw the emergence of several stunning actresses who captivated audiences on the big screen, but three in particular rose above the rest to become true national crushes, winning hearts across the country. Interestingly, none of them were newcomers. However, the massive success of their recent films catapulted them to unprecedented nationwide recognition.
One such actress is Ritika Nayak, who left a strong impression with her performance in Mirai. Her commanding screen presence, confidence, and effortless charm played a crucial role in making her widely admired well beyond regional cinema boundaries.
The second is Rukmini Vasanth, who gained immense popularity with Kantara: Chapter 1. Her elegance, expressive acting, and the strength she brought to her character struck a deep chord with audiences, turning her into one of the most talked-about actresses of the year.
The third is Sara Arjun, whose role in Dhurandhar earned her nationwide attention. Her surprising maturity as a performer, combined with a striking screen presence, impressed both critics and viewers alike.
The phenomenal success of these films, along with the actresses’ talent, performances, and on-screen allure, elevated them to national fame. As the industry looks ahead, all eyes are now firmly set on what the future holds for these three rising stars in 2026.
