Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, appears to be carving out a fresh political identity after parting ways with the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Observers who have followed her political journey note that Kavitha’s recent public appearances — marked by traditional sarees, a bold bindi, and confident demeanor — have drawn notable comparisons to the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. They believe Kavitha is deliberately reshaping her public image as a strong, independent woman leader representing empowerment and regional pride.
Through her “Jagruthi Janam Baata Yatra,” Kavitha has been highlighting issues of women’s empowerment and political representation for Backward Classes (BCs), signaling a calculated effort to reposition herself within Telangana’s evolving political landscape. Analysts describe this as her use of “visual politics,” where appearance and symbolism are harnessed to create emotional resonance with women and grassroots voters.
“Jayalalithaa turned her distinct persona into a symbol of strength and resilience. Kavitha seems to be taking a similar approach to establish her mass appeal,” observed a political analyst.
While some interpret this as image reinvention, others view it as part of a broader social and political agenda. “She’s going beyond optics. By emphasizing BC and women’s empowerment, Kavitha appears to be building a new political base that extends beyond her father’s legacy,” analysts said.
