Dr. Narayana, the top boss of the CPM, is the strongest Left voice in Telugu politics. His voice became the most prominent after Raghavulu. Despite being one of the most popular politicians, Narayana has never managed to be a part of the assembly or the legislative council.

While Narayana is a National Level leader, he is spending all of his time in his hometown, Ainambakkam, of the Nagari assembly constituency. He is actively organizing dharnas, rallies and protests in various parts of the Chittoor district, and even recently became a daily wager, to personally experience the problems that daily wagers face. Narayana even organised a sem9-nude protest in Chittoor and Tirupati recently, against the rising fuel prices, and even staged a dharna in front of the Chittoor collectorate, apart from addressing local issues in Ainambakkam.

With Narayana being so active, everyone is of the opinion that he is certain that he wants to contest from the constituency and win from there. The Nagari constituency currently belongs to the YSRCP, with Roja having won from there. Given that every member belonging to the CPM having gone to the assembly or the council, Narayana remains to be the only person who has never been able to do that, which is why he’s very determined about it now. It is to be seen if he will finally be able to do it now.

After creating some curiosity by leaking a wedding card with the names of Sumanth Akkineni and Pavithra, the makers of his upcoming film have released a poster of the film.

The poster has an artistic touch. We see three different phases of marriage life in it. The poster depicts the life of a newly married couple sharing an intimate moment and then also the other two phases which are a result of traction that develops between them.

“Life after divorce is a different phase”, the statement from the makers reads.

The film has been titled Malli Modalaindi. Naina Ganguly pairs with Sumanth in the slice of life drama that is directed by Keerthi Kumar.

Anup Rubens in composing the music for the intense drama. More details about the film and also the release date will be announced in the days to come.

Amazon Alexa app adds ‘Ask Alexa’ widget to iPhones

Washington: The Amazon Alexa application for iOS has received a highly-anticipated feature with its latest update. Users can now add the new ‘Ask Alexa’ widget in their home screens to talk to the personal assistant with only one click.

As per The Verge, Amazon has updated the Alexa app on iOS so that users can access the voice assistant right from their home screens via a new widget.

Everyone can use the assistant to remind specific members of their household to perform tasks through a new ‘assign reminders’ skill.

Due to the somewhat restrictive nature of the widgets on iOS, the new Ask Alexa widget isn’t so much Alexa itself as it is a link directly to the iOS app. But if you have the Alexa widget placed on any of your screens and you’ve already given the Alexa app permission to use your iPhone’s mic, you’ll be able to start making requests with a tap.

And now those requests can get a bit more granular. Amazon has given Alexa the ability to assign reminders to specific members of your household if they have a Voice Profile set up on the same Amazon Alexa account.

So if you say “Alexa, remind Jeff to take the lasagna out of the freezer at 10 am,” Alexa will be able to deliver the reminder to the right person, at the right time, through the Alexa app.

You can add profiles to your Alexa account in Settings under Your Profile, and Amazon said you can assign relationship nicknames to each one, like mom, dad, daughter, etc.

Alexa picks up new features and skills on a monthly basis, but Amazon also announced plans in June to open up Alexa even further to third-party developers. Among many new APIs, developers will be able to create custom widgets for the Echo Show.

Google removes nearly 1.5 Lakh content peices in May-June in India

New Delhi: Google removed 71,132 pieces of content in May and took 83,613 removal actions in June following user complaints, the company said in its monthly transparency reports released on Friday.

In addition to reports from users, Google also removed 6,34,357 pieces of content in May and 5,26,866 in June as a result of automated detection.

The US-based company has made these disclosures as part of compliance with India’s IT rules that came into force on May 26.

In its maiden report, Google said it had received over 27,700 complaints in April this year from individual users in India over alleged violation of local laws or personal rights, which resulted in the removal of 59,350 pieces of content.

In its report for May, Google said it had received 34,883 complaints from individual users located in India via designated mechanisms, and the number of removal actions as a result of user complaints was 71,132.

These complaints relate to third-party content that is believed to violate local laws or personal rights on Google’s SSMI (significant social media intermediary) platforms, it added.

The content removal was done under several categories, including copyright (70,365), defamation (753), counterfeit (5), other legal (4), circumvention (3) and graphic sexual content (2).

Google explained that a single complaint may specify multiple items that potentially relate to the same or different pieces of content, and each unique URL in a specific complaint is considered an individual “item” that is removed.

In June, Google received 36,265 complaints – the highest till now – from individual users located in India via designated mechanisms.

It removed 83,613 pieces of content as a result of user complaints in the said month. Content removed during June was done under similar categories as in May.

Copyright segment accounted for the largest number of content removed (83,054), trademark (532), counterfeit (14), circumvention (4), other legal (2), graphic sexual content (1) and defamation (1).

Three content pieces were removed under the impersonation category and two under court order.

Under the new IT rules, large digital platforms – with over 5 million users – will have to publish periodic compliance reports every month, mentioning the details of complaints received and action taken thereon.

The report is to also include the number of specific communication links or parts of the information that the intermediary has removed or disabled access to in pursuance of any proactive monitoring conducted by using automated tools.

Google removed 6,34,357 pieces of content in May and 5,26,866 in June as a result of automated detection.

This data is a new addition to the compliance reports.

Talking about automated detection, Google said it invests heavily in fighting harmful content online and uses technology to detect and remove it from its platforms (including YouTube). This includes using automated detection processes for some of our products to prevent the dissemination of harmful content such as child sexual abuse material and violent extremist content.

Automated detection enables us to act more quickly and accurately to enforce our guidelines and policies,” the company noted.

These removal actions may result in removing the content or terminating a bad actor’s access to the Google service. The volume of automated detection is close to 10x that of user complaints, the company said.

Google has been publishing its Transparency Report since 2010 that provides details on government requests for content removals on a biannual basis.

The company also reports on YouTube content removals quarterly.

Etela to resign from Padayatra due to ill health

Former Health Minister of Telangana, Etela Rajender has been doing a Padayatra in the Huzurabad constituency for the past few days. This “Praja Deevena Padayatra” was started by Etela after he resigned from his post as the MLA of the constituency after he was insulted in the TRS.
Now, Etela has taken a break from the Padayatra after he fell ill due to the current climatic conditions, and because of walking continuously through the scorching sun, rains and changing temperatures. Doctors examined him at the Kondapaka village in Veenavanka Mandal of the Huzurabad constituency and determined that he is very weak and that his ankle is also strained due to all the walking.

It is now being said that Etela’s wife Jamuna Reddy will be continuing the padayatra in her husband’s stead and that he would join the padayatra after he is well, along with his wife. There are also speculations that Jamuna will be contesting from the Huzurabad constituency, instead of Etela, from the BJP. While Etela is trying to get close to the people of Huzurabad by his Padayatra, the TRS too is trying its best to get the approval of the people of the constituency.

Sun Pictures, who are bankrolling the project are planning to release the film in theaters next Pongal season. Vijay scored a box office blockbuster with Master this Pongal season and he is looking to emulate a similar feat next Pongal with Beast.

Pooja Hegde recently joined the sets of Beast and it is unclear if she will be joining the unit in the Russia schedule. The action-thriller is directed by Nelson.

BJP leaders step into election mode to woo voters in Telangana’s Huzurabad constituency

KARIMNAGAR: Though the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not yet issued any notifications regarding the Huzurabad byelection, it appears as if the BJP has already stepped into poll mode. According to sources, the party leaders and activists have already intensified their campaign, albeit the BJP leadership has not finalised its candidate for the bypoll yet. The party is planning to adopt pretty much the same strategies that worked out for it in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh to bag the maximum number of votes.

At the same time, former minister and BJP strongman Eatala Rajender is continuing his Praja Ashirvada Yatra and receiving good response from the voters. Meanwhile, party committees in all local areas are making arrangements to ensure that the yatra turns out to be a grand success. The party leadership has also formed special panna committees to reach out to the voters at their doorsteps. Each committee member has been assigned 60 voters. The committee members have been instructed to meet all these voters in-person to ensure their votes. The panna committees will reportedly continue this campaign till the poll date, sources said. The saffron party leadership has also implemented the ‘Shakti Kendra’ tactic in the Assembly constituency by merging two-three polling booths.

According to sources in the party, BJP leaders and activists have been working very strategically for the past 15 days. Party senior leader Mantri Srinivas has already set up a camp in Huzurabad to monitor all campaigning activities. In the meantime, AP Jitender Reddy’s appointment as the Assembly segment in-charge is also likely to benefit the party’s tactics. MP D Arvind and other leaders are also working round-the-clock to ensure BJP victory. However, the BJP has not yet launched any massive programmes to attract the voters, but is more focused on building personal relationships with voters.

COVID-19: China battles biggest outbreak in months as US ramps up vaccine push

BEIJING: Hundreds of thousands of people in China were in coronavirus lockdown Friday as the country battled its worst outbreak in months, while the United States intensified vaccination efforts in the face of a Delta variant-fuelled surge.

The World Health Organization has warned that the highly transmissible strain, first detected in India, could unleash more Covid-19 outbreaks in a high-risk area from Morocco to Pakistan where vaccination rates are low.

In China, a cluster of infections in Nanjing city linked to airport workers who cleaned a plane from Russia earlier this month had reached the capital Beijing and five provinces by Friday.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been locked down in Jiangsu province, of which Nanjing is the capital, while 41,000 came under stay-at-home orders in Beijing’s Changping district.

At least 206 infections across China have been linked to the cluster, and the outbreak is geographically the largest in several months.

It challenges Beijing’s aggressive containment efforts which have relied on mass testing, lockdowns and swift contact tracing.

The Delta variant is more transmissible than the pathogens that cause SARS, Ebola and smallpox, and as easily spread as chickenpox, according to an internal US Centers for Disease Control presentation reported by The Washington Post and The New York Times.

It has driven recent surges around the world, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Philippines next week will send more than 13 million people in the national capital region back into lockdown because of a Delta-linked increase, the government said Friday.

The variant has also been linked to around half of new cases in Tokyo.

Japan on Friday extended a virus state of emergency in the capital a week into the Olympics, with the city reported a record number of new cases the day before.

Meanwhile, Australia said Friday it would reopen borders and end lockdowns when vaccination rates reach 80 percent.

‘You don’t have to die’

The United States ramped up efforts to get people vaccinated in the face of a Delta variant-fuelled surge.

With infections and hospitalisations rising, President Joe Biden asked every US federal worker to either declare they are fully vaccinated or wear masks and be tested.

“People are dying — and will die — who don’t have to die,” Biden said Thursday. “If in fact you are unvaccinated, you present a problem — to yourself, to your family, and to those with whom you work.”

The president also said he would ask the Pentagon to consider making the coronavirus vaccine mandatory for active duty military personnel, and asked state and local governments to offer $100 to holdouts who get the shot.

Later, the Pentagon said all its military and civilian personnel would require masks, regular testing and travel restrictions if they are unvaccinated.

The CDC has already asked people in virus hotspots — including the vaccinated — to wear masks indoors again.

The moves stop short of a politically sensitive vaccination mandate for federal workers, but mark a dramatic return to restrictions after a rapid vaccination phase.

The surge across America — which has the highest known Covid-19 death toll in the world — has left early vaccine adopters angry at those who have so far opted against the shot.

“It’s almost like they don’t care about the rest of the world,” Alethea Reed, a 58-year-old healthcare administrator in Washington, told AFP.

“They’re being selfish and self-centred.”

COVID-19: Philippines extends travel ban to India, nine other countries till August 15

MANILA: The Philippines on Friday extended travel restrictions for those coming from India and nine other countries till August 15 to check the spread of Delta COVID-19 variant amid a surge in the number of coronavirus cases in the country.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to extend the travel restrictions currently imposed to 10 countries starting August 1 until August 15, 2021, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a Facebook post.

The countries include India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, he said.

The Philippines imposed the travel ban on India initially on April 29 which was extended.

On July 14, the government extended the travel ban, which covers India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, UAE, and Oman till July 31.

According to a report in Manila Times, the extended travel ban came after President Duterte expressed concern over the contagious Delta variant, first detected in India.

The country has, so far, reported 216 cases of the Delta variant, but health experts say there could be more undetected cases because of the slow pace of the country’s genome sequencing capacity.

Duterte on Wednesday advised those who don’t want to be vaccinated to stay at home.

“I am telling you, don’t leave your homes. If you go out, I will tell the police to escort you back to your house because you are a walking spreader,” Duterte was quoted as saying in the report.

The President said the country could not afford to go “back to square one,” in case the Delta COVID-19 variant continues to rise.

Coronavirus cases in the Philippines hit a two-month high on Friday with 8,562 new coronavirus infections, pushing the national tally to 1,580,824, the Philippines Star reported.

The death toll from the deadly virus has reached 27,722.

Some of the top names in Indian and regional cinema, Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, Samantha, Vijay Deverakonda, and Dulquer Salman have joined hands for an interesting collaboration. But don’t come to any conclusions already. This bunch of talented actors is not collaborating for a feature film or a web series, but for a promotional campaign for an online e-commerce platform, Myntra.

Hrithik Roshan started off the whole development by tweeting “Hey @advani_kiara do you think this is good enough?”. He also shared a snap of himself in trendy apparel. Kiara Advani was quick to respond and she replied “Not enough, but now it’s better Winking face What do you think @TheDeverakonda?”. The actress had also edited the image shared by Hrithik and cropped a pose of herself in the same. Vijay Deverakonda took the trend forward as he added “Beautiful 🙂 but not enough, it just needs some Rowdiness. There, set! Do you approve @Samanthaprabhu2?.” Vijay further edited the image and he added a picture of himself into the mix.

Samantha carried the development forward with her tweet. “Hahaha. No. Not enough. But I know how to make it better! @dulQuer do you think this will do?.” She wrote as she tagged Malayalam superstar Dulquer Salman. The Malayali actor then responded “I know what it needs to make it MORE than enough! @myntra :You obviously agree.” This is when everyone got to know that these actors weren’t tweeting about any potential collaboration but they were collectively promoting Myntra, an online fashion store.

Rounding off the whole conversation, Myntra tweeted, “@iHrithik @advani_kiara @TheDeverakonda @Samanthaprabhu2 @dulQuer Yes of course this is enough.Hugging face. India’s top fashion icons styled by Myntra #IndiasFashionExpert – this is the best of fashion. Why settle for less!.”

All these actors then individually tweeted the same message, i.e, “Best of Fashion Indeed! Proud to be part of the @Myntra Style Fam #IndiasFashionExpert #Myntra.”

Myntra surely has caught the attention of netizens with their promotional campaign by raking up curiosity as they roped in top stars in Indian cinema for their campaign. This Twitter conversation is now going viral on the platform and understandably so.

సోనూ సూద్ గురించి తెలియని వారు ప్రస్తుత రోజుల్లో ఎవరూ ఉండరేమో. అంతలా తన సాయాలతో ఆయన పేరు సంపాదించుకున్నాడు. సినిమాలు చేసినా.. కానీ అక్కడ సంపాదించి పేరు ప్రఖ్యాతులు తక్కువనే చెప్పాలి. ఎటువంటి బ్యాక్ గ్రౌండ్ లేకుండా ఇండస్ర్టీలోకి ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చిన సోనూ ఎక్కువ నెగటివ్ రోల్స్ లోనే ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. తాను చేసిన నెగటివ్ రోల్స్ చాలా హిట్టయ్యాయి. అడపాదడపా హీరోగా చేసిన కానీ తనకు గుర్తింపు తెచ్చింది మాత్రం నెగటివ్ రోల్స్ అనే చెప్పాలి. అంతలా సోనూ సూద్ నెగటివ్ రోల్స్ కు పెట్టింది పేరులా మారిపోయారు. ఆయన తెలుగు లో చేసిన సినిమాలలో ఎక్కువగా తనకు గుర్తింపును తీసుకువచ్చింది అరుంధతి మూవీలో చేసిన పశుపతి క్యారెక్టరే. ఈ మూవీలో అతడి క్యారెక్టర్ ప్రధాన పాత్ర కు ఏ మాత్రం తీసిపోకుండా ఉంటుంది. అతడికి తెలుగు రాకపోయినా వేరే తెలుగు వ్యక్తి డబ్బింగ్ చెప్పినా కానీ అతడు చేసిన నటనకు మంచి మార్కులు పడ్డాయి. పలువురు విమర్శకులు కూడా ఆయనను మెచ్చుకోకుండా ఉండలేకపోయారు. ఈ రోజు సోనూ సూద్ జన్మదినం. సోనూ సూద్ ది కూడా ప్రేమ వివాహం కావడం గమనార్హం. తన భార్య సోనాలి ఆయన స్టూటెండ్ గా ఉన్నప్పటి నుంచే ప్రేమించి అనంతరం వివాహం చేసుకున్నాడు.

సోనూసూద్ ఇంజనీరింగ్ చదువే రోజుల్లో ఎంబీఏ చదివే సోనాలి అతడికి పరిచయమైంది. తొలి పరిచయంలోనే ఇరువురూ ఒకరిని ఒకరు బాగా ఇష్టపడ్డారు. ఇలా వారి అభిరుచులు కూడా కలవడంతో ఇక ఆగలేకపోయారు. లవ్ ను ఎక్స్ ప్రెస్ చేసేందుకు ఇంతకంటే పెద్ద కారణం ఇంకా ఏమీ అవసరం లేదేమో. వారిరువురూ ప్రేమించుకుంటున్నట్లు పెద్దవాళ్లకు చెప్పి ఒప్పించడంలో సఫలం అయ్యారు. ఇరు కుటుంబాల పెద్దల అంగీకారంతో సోనూసూద్ సోనాలి 1996లో ఒక్కటయ్యారు. పెళ్లి తర్వాత సోనాలి ఓ సంస్థలో ఉద్యోగం చేసింది. ఆ సమయంలో సోనూ సూద్ మోడలింగ్ చేసేవాడు.
