తెలుగులో అనూహ్యంగా ఎదిగిన సింగర్ మంగ్లీ అలియాస్ సత్యవతి రాథోడ్. ఓ టీవీ ఛానల్ లో యాంకర్ మంగ్లీగా ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చిన ఆమె.. ఆ ఎపిసోడ్ పాపులర్ కావడంతో అదే పేరుతో పాపులర్ అయ్యింది. ఈ క్రమంలోనే తెలంగాణ ఫార్మేషన్ సాంగ్ తో తనలోని సింగర్ ను ప్రపంచానికి చాటిచెప్పింది. ఆ పాట కూడా అద్భుతంగా క్లిక్ కావడంతో.. ఆమెలోని సెకండ్ యాంగిల్ లోకానికి తెలిసి వచ్చింది. ఆ తర్వాత ఎన్నో గీతాలు ఆమె నుంచి వచ్చాయి. ఆ తర్వాత సినిమాల్లోకి సైతం ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చి.. తన సత్తా చాటుకుంది.

అయితే.. ప్రతీ ఫెస్టివల్ కు మంగ్లీ ఓ కొత్త పాటతో రావడం కామన్ అయిపోయింది. ఇదే క్రమంలో తాజాగా బోనాల సాంగ్ తో ప్రేక్షకుల ముందుకు వచ్చింది. ”చెట్టుకింద కూసున్నవమ్మా..” అంటూ సాగిపోయే మైసమ్మ పాటలో ”మోతెవరి లెక్క కూసుకున్నవమ్మా..” అనే పదాన్ని వాడారు. దీనిపై కొందరు అభ్యంతరం తెలిపారు. మరికొందరు హద్దులు దాటి వ్యాఖ్యానాలు చేశారు. పాట విడుదల చేసిన మొదటి రోజు నుంచే మొదలైన ఈ కామెంట్ల పరంపర.. రానురానూ శృతిమించింది. చివరకు కొందరు ఈ విషయమై పోలీసులకు సైతం ఫిర్యాదు చేశారు.

”రచయిత రామస్వామి ( ఈ పాట రాసిన రచయిత) గారి అభిప్రాయం ప్రకారం.. చెట్టుకింద కూసున్నవమ్మ పాటలో మెతవరి అంటే గ్రామంలో పెద్ద అనే అర్థంలో సాగుతుంది. ప్రస్తుతం ఆ పదం వ్యతిరేక పదంగా వాడుకలోకి వచ్చిందన్నది వాదన నిందాస్తుతిలో కోలాటం రూపంలో సాగే ఈ పాటను మాకు తెలిసిన కొంత మంది కళాకారులు పెద్దల సలహాలు తీసుకుని చిత్రీకరించాం. గ్రామదేవతల ఒగ్గు కథలు బైండ్లోల్ల కొలువులు ఇలా రకరకాల ఆచారాలున్నాయి. భక్తిలో కూడా మూఢ భక్తి వైరి భక్తి అని రకరకాలుగా ఉన్నాయి. అందులో భాగంగానే ఈ పాటను రూపొందించాం.

నేను పండితుల కుటుంబం నుంచి రాలేదు. చెట్లు పుట్లను కొలిచే గిరిజన జాతికి చెందిన తండా నుంచి వచ్చిన ఆడబిడ్డను. బతుకమ్మ బోనాలు పండగల్లాగే మా బంజారాలో తీజ్ శీతల (సాతి భవాని) పండగల్లో ప్రకృతినే దేవతలుగా పూజిస్తాము. మాకు కష్టం కలిగినా సంతోషం వచ్చినా.. మేము చెప్పుకునేది నమ్ముకునేది గ్రామదేవతలకే. వారిని మా ఇంట్లో సభ్యులుగా నమ్ముతాము. మేము తినేది తాగేది ఆ దేవతలకు నైవేద్యంగా పెడతాము. నేను సింగర్ గా అంతో ఇంతో ఎదిగింది కూడా అమ్మవారి కృప ఆంజనేయ స్వామి దీవెన మీ అభిమానం ఆదరణ వల్లే అని నమ్ముతాను. అందుకే నేను పుట్టిన తండాలో మా తాతలనాటి ఆంజనేయ స్వామి విగ్రహానికి గుడి కట్టించి పూజలు చేస్తున్నాము.

ఏనాడూ గుడికి వెళ్లనివాళ్లు బోనం ఎత్తనివాళ్లు కూడా నా జాతి ప్రాంతం కులం అంటూ కామెంట్లు చేస్తున్నారు. ఇది ఎంత వరకు సమంజసమో గమనించాలి. గత నాలుగేళ్లుగా ప్రతి ఏటా లాల్ దర్వాజ అమ్మవారికి బోనం ఎత్తుతున్నాను. గత ఆరు సంవత్సరాలుగా బతుకమ్మ సమ్మక్క సారక్క శివరత్రి సంక్రాంతి బోనాలు.. ఏ పండగ వచ్చినా నేను పాటలు చేస్తున్నాను. ఈ సారికి శివరాత్రి పాట అత్యంత పవిత్ర స్థలం కాశీకి వెళ్లి మరీ చిత్రీకరించాము. ప్రతి పండగలో నా పాటల ద్వారా మీ ఇంటి భాగస్వామిని అయ్యాను. మీ ఇంట్లో ఓ ఆడబిడ్డగా కడుపులో పెట్టుకున్నారు. ఇందుకు ఎప్పటికీ రుణపడి ఉంటాను. నేను ఒక్క రోజులో ఫేమస్ కాలేదు. నా పాటల వెనుక పదేళ్ల కష్టం ఉంది. కానీ.. కొందరు తమ ఇంట్లో తల్లి చెల్లి ఉందన్న విషయం మరిచి విచక్షణ కోల్పోయి కామెంట్లు చేస్తున్నారు. ఈ పాట నేపథ్యం తెలుసుకోకుండా నిందిస్తున్నారు.

Pooja Hegde is one of the highest paid actresses in Telugu cinema currently. She is said to be charging in upwards of Rs 2.5 crores per project. Incidentally, the actress has now started a foundation, through which she aspires to give it back to the society.

Pooja started a foundation named All About Love through which she will provide financial support to those in need.

It’s a gift I don’t take for granted. I hope to inculcate a culture of giving back to society in whatever way possible, big or small. Pooja has been paying the medical bills of child cancer patients through this foundation. She is also organising one month’s ration supplies for daily wager in her hometown Mangalore.

Pooja really needs to be appreciated for her philanthropic work. It is high time that the economically sound section give it back to the society in the dark times and Pooja is proving the same.

Vakeel Saab Beats Ala Vaikunthapurramulo Sesational Record

Pawan Kalyan’s recent theatrical outing Vakeel Saab has created a sensation of sorts on the small screens as it has reported record-breaking TRP rating points. The film has broken the record set by Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramulo recently.

Vakeel Saab premiered on Zee Telugu recently and it managed to post a TRP rating of 32.20 which is the highest ever TRP for any Telugu film to date. It appears to be that the small screen audiences are lapping up Vakeel Saab and hence, the record-smashing TRPs.

Vakeel Saab premiered on Zee Telugu on 18th June and it clocked a stellar TRP rating of 32.20. It has broken the record previously set by Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramulo. The Allu Arjun starrer had clocked 29.40 TRP rating which was the highest ever at that point in time. But the record has been rewritten by Pawan Kalyan’s Vakeel Saab now.

Mega fans are now on cloud 9 as both the films that have registered the highest ever TRP ratings feature mega heroes in the lead roles.

Coming to Vakeel Saab, the film features Pawan Kalyan, Anjali, Nivetha Thomas, Shruti Hassan, Ananya Nagalla, and Prakash Raj in the lead roles. The film is directed by Sriram Venu.

Pfizer/BioNTech to produce Covid-19 vaccine in South Africa

FRANKFURT: Covid-19 vaccine makers BioNTech and Pfizer on Wednesday said they had found a South African partner to produce their jab locally, the first such deal on the African continent.

The move comes amid growing criticism of vaccine inequality that has seen poor countries fall behind richer ones in the race to protect people from the coronavirus.

Under the agreement, Cape Town-based Biovac will complete the last step in the manufacturing process of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, known as “fill and finish”, the companies said in a statement.

The project will take time to get off the ground however, with the first African-finished vaccines not expected before 2022.

Once up and running, Biovac is set to churn out more than 100 million doses annually that will be distributed to the 55 countries in the African Union.

“This is a critical step forward in strengthening sustainable access to a vaccine in the fight against this tragic, worldwide pandemic,” said Biovac chief executive officer Morena Makhoana.

The “technical transfer, on-site development and equipment installation activities will begin immediately,” the statement added.

The coronavirus vaccine developed by BioNTech and its US partner Pfizer, based on mRNA technology, was the first to be approved in the West late last year.

Studies have shown it is highly effective against Covid-19, including against newer and more contagious virus variants.

– ‘They never come’ –

With the vaccine rollouts well under way in the West, and supply even outstripping demand in some countries, calls have grown for pharma companies to waive patents on their life-saving jabs.

This has been fiercely opposed by the companies themselves and countries like Germany, whose Chancellor Angela Merkel says suspending intellectual property rights could stifle innovation and would not resolve the lack of manufacturing capacity in the short term.

She has instead argued for licensing agreements and partnerships between vaccine makers and local firms, an approach taken by BioNTech, a German company.

“We aim to enable people on all continents to manufacture and distribute our vaccine while ensuring the quality of the manufacturing process and the doses,” said Ugur Sahin, BioNTech’s co-founder and CEO.

Pfizer/BioNTech said they have so far shipped more than one billion COVID-19 vaccine doses to more than 100 countries or territories, including through the global Covax vaccine-sharing programme.

The Covax scheme, backed by the World Health Organization and heavily relied on by African countries, has delivered far fewer doses than expected so far however.

The WHO estimated earlier this month that only two percent of the African population, around 16 million people, were fully vaccinated.

South Africa has the highest number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in Africa, recording more than 2.3 million infections and over 67,000 deaths.

The country is currently battling a brutal third wave of the pandemic, fuelled by a lack of vaccines, public fatigue with Covid restrictions and the rise of the highly contagious Delta variant.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa last month announced a plan to turn his country into an mRNA vaccine hub, saying Africans “cannot continue to rely on vaccines that are made outside of Africa because they never come”.

China begins mass testing for Covid cases in Nanjing city after new virus cluster

BEIJING: China has begun mass testing of people in Nanjing in Jiangsu Province after 17 airport workers in the city tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday causing massive flight cancellations and delays.

Nine of the workers were diagnosed as confirmed cases and five as asymptomatic carriers, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The remaining three are awaiting further diagnosis, it quoted local officials as saying.

A total of 521 flights have been cancelled at the Nanjing Lukou International Airport.

The airport was earlier scheduled to handle 663 inbound and outbound flights on Wednesday.

The city’s Jiangning district launched a massive nucleic acid testing campaign following the detection of the coronavirus cases.

Nanjing, which has a population of more than 9.3 million, plans to carry out city-wide nucleic acid testing after the campaign in Jiangning district concludes, the municipal government said.

The municipal government has urged residents not to leave the city unless necessary.

Anyone leaving the city must produce a negative nucleic acid test certificate, done within 48 hours of their departure.

Nanjing authorities have classified four residential compounds as medium-risk areas for COVID-19 and have launched closed-off management there.

All public transportation will halt in these medium-risk areas, the report said.

Since the outbreak of coronavirus in Wuhan in December 2019, China has so far reported 92,364 Covid cases as of Tuesday.

This included 602 patients still receiving treatment, 15 of whom were in severe condition, according to a Xinhua report.

So far 4,636 have died of the disease.

VIJAYAWADA: BJP state president Somu Veerraju said that he would undertake a temple yatra from July 24 for four days to various temples including Srisailam, Vontimitta and others to pray to the deities to present wisdom to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, whose government is allegedly promoting other religions in the state.

He added during his visit, he would also assess the alleged presence of non-Hindus in temple administration and development of infrastructure.

Speaking to the media after visiting the Mahankali temple in Kantamraju Konduru on Tuesday, Veerraju alleged that state-backed attempts to build churches and erect statues of controversial ruler like Tippu Sultan were being made in AP.

Padayatras may trigger third wave, warns DPH

HYDERABAD: Director of Public Health Dr G Srinivasa Rao advised politicians to eschew padayatras owing to the looming threat of a third wave of Covid-19. Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he said, “Politicians are rarely seen wearing masks, especially while delivering speeches. This can lead to droplets falling on the people around them. The virus spreads through droplets and wearing a mask is the only way to prevent it,” Dr Rao said.

Former Health Minister Eatala Rajender, who is gearing up for the upcoming elections in Huzurabad, is already on a padayatra with BJP workers, while YS Sharmila, president of YSRTP, has announced her intention to launch her padayatra three months from now. BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar has also declared a padayatra from Bhagyalaskmi temple in Old City to Huzurabad from August 9, the day the Quit India Movement was launched in 1942.

Dr Rao further said that the use of masks had fallen to just 40 per cent in crowded areas of Hyderabad and that post-lockdown activities were organised with zero physical distancing. He added that the second wave was still not over. “We have around 3,000 odd Covid-19 cases in the hospitals. We are still in the second wave and the people who are partaking in religious and political activities must be cautious,” said Dr Rao.

Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music for this film and sources say that the first part is expected to release by the end of this year. The teaser doubled the expectations on the film and is nearing the 100 million mark.

This movie marks the return of ‘Arya’ trio. Sukumar-DSP-Allu Arjun have come together after 12 years. They lastly worked on ‘Arya 2’. DSP is in good form after ‘Uppena’ and ‘Rang De’ while Sukumar scored a sensational hit with ‘Rangasthalam’. Allu Arjun too is riding high on the success of ‘Ala Vaikunthapuramlo’. Coming to Fahadh Faasil, he is not just acting in ‘Pushpa’ but is also a part of Kamal Hassan’s ‘Vikram’ in which Vijay Sethupathi is also playing a key role.

Why is former TDP biggie, arch foe of YSR family and former MLC SV Satish Reddy not coming forward to join the YSRCP? Satish Reddy was loyal to the TDP till he resigned from the party a while ago, has never baulked from the responsibility of fighting the YSR family from Pulivendula. He fought YSR, Vijayamma and then YS Jagan.

But, soon after Jagan came to power in 2019, Reddy resigned from the primary membership of the party. There were reports that he would join the very party he had opposed all these years. In fact, he made a very significant statement when he said that the YS family helps those who stand by them. This was seen as an indication that he would join the YSRCP. Some even said that it was just a matter of time when blue-green-white stole of the YSRCP was wrapped around his shoulders.

But, though it has been months, Satish Reddy’s joining did not happen. Enquiries have shown that Saitsh Reddy was busy with agriculture and his businesses in Khammam district. He is also quite diffident about talking about politics these days.

Insiders say there are two reasons why he has not joined the YSRCP. Firstly, the party did not indicate what would be his position after he joined the party. Secondly, he is worried that he may be ill-treated in the YSRCP. He is said to be showing the treatment meted out to P Ramasubba Reddy as an example of how the party treated those who had joined the party. P Ramasubba Reddy of Jammalamadugu is said to be treated like dirt in the YSRCP. So, Satish Reddy is deferring his joining of the YSRCP as he is afraid of being mistreated in the party.

The arrest case of businessman Raj Kundra is taking new twists and turns with one after the other interesting information coming out.

After Raj Kundra, Shilpa Shetty’s husband was sent to the police custody till the 23rd of this month, by a court in Mumbai on Tuesday, the Mumbai Police shared crucial information in regard to the case.

Addressing the media, the Mumbai Police said that Raj Kundra and his brother-in-law Pradeep Bakshi are the key persons behind the racket that is into filming erotic content.

The cops said that the duo own a mobile app named ‘HotShots Digital Entertainment’ where the pictures and videos of hot models will be uploaded.

In order to consume the content in the app, the users have to pay for it. In the app the erotic content is being uploaded. The revenue generated though this is closely Rs 60 lakh per month. Rs 7.5 crore that belongs to Raj Kundra was also seized by the cops.

The Police went on to say that, during their investigation in regard to the racket, they have gathered information about Raj Kundra’s links through Whatsapp. Other data like erotic content was also seized by them.

Raj Kundra is in police custody currently. Given the seriousness of the allegations, he may have to face a jail sentence if the allegations are proved.

It has to be noted that, earlier a few actors have openly accused Raj Kundra of wrong doings in regard to taking auditions and filming erotic content.

Kokapet auction: Telangana govt rejects corruption claims

HYDERABAD: Dismissing allegations of corruption and nepotism in the e-auction of lands in Kokapet and Khanamet on Hyderabad’s outskirts as imaginary, unfounded and not based on facts, the State government on Tuesday warned of defamation proceedings against those who continued with their ‘slander campaign’.In a carefully-worded statement, the government said that certain news items had appeared on Tuesday which were casting aspersions and alleging procedural irregularities in the conduct of the recently concluded auction of lands by HMDA and TSIIC. Therefore, it has become necessary to clarify and place on record the factual position on each of these allegations, read the statement.

MSTC (the government’s platform for e-auction) provided login and password to buyers and the apprehension regarding anyone trying to influence the bid are totally unfounded, the government said. It further said that all the bidders who had finally won the bid got it through this extremely transparent process of e-auction.

“Allegations levelled regarding restricting the competition, less realisation of bid amount or favouring certain firms are imaginary, unfounded, not based on facts and at some level are aimed at maligning the extremely transparent process and the reputation of the State’s and GoI’s agencies. Legal defamation is being contemplated over these unfounded allegations, should they continue any further,” read the statement.

The statement, explaining the need to carry out such auctions, read: “Auction of the government lands for various purposes is nothing new and has happened regularly elsewhere in the country. Such auctions are done to ensure planned growth of the city and address the growing needs for office space and residential segments. Hyderabad city has been growing faster than any other metro in recent years and it has become essential to create more work and residential space, especially in green field areas, so that the city is able to meet its future requirements.”

It is known that Rana Daggubati tied the knot with Mihreka Bajaj in a private wedding ceremony later last year. The couple is presently spending some quality time together at their private residence in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, Rana has been lining up a series of big-ticket projects which will later be streaming on OTT platforms. He is partnering with Netflix for his digital content endeavours and setting up a few exciting projects. In his recent interaction, Rana opened up about his upcoming projects and also his personal life.

“I have certainly changed a lot of getting married. I am much more organised and focused now. All the madness has been channelised into a sense of calmness. I am more responsible now. On the work front I have a few interesting projects coming up and more details about the same will be unveiled very soon. I am excited about what’s in the store for our Telugu viewers,” he said.

Rana confirmed that he will be working on a Daggubati multi-starrer that will feature himself, his uncle Venkatesh, and his brother Abhiram in the lead roles. This project is likely to be announced in the near future. When asked about rumors regarding him hosting Bigg Boss 5, Rana came up with an affirmative response, saying he is not a part of the show in any way. He says any report claiming otherwise is completely baseless.

“I too am disappointed that Babai(Venkatesh’s) Narappa didn’t release in theaters and premiered on OTT. But that is how things are at the moment, due to Covid outbreak. As for the Netflix projects, I am partnering with them to produce several web series’ and films. All these projects will come with exciting stories and plot lines. I am excited about them,” he said.
