Komatireddy-Kishan meet raises eyebrows in Telangana political circles

Share

HYDERABAD: Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy called on Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy in New Delhi on Sunday, which raised many eyebrows in the political circles. It has provided enough grist to the rumour mills that he is testing waters in the BJP camp and deciding whether he should don the saffron robes.

There is also speculation that Venkat Reddy might use this meeting as a bargaining chip to get a better position in the AICC or CWC, so that he could have an upper hand over newly-appointed TPCC president A Revanth Reddy.

The Bhongir MP, who is yet to acknowledge the change of guard at TPCC, told media persons that the meeting with the Union Minister was about the development of the historic Bhongir Fort. However, the meeting triggered speculations that the Parliamentarian was trying to send out a message that he was in touch with BJP biggies like Kishan Reddy, who took charge as a Union Minister recently in New Delhi.

When media persons asked him about the TPCC president post and Revanth, he underplayed the issue and asked them to avoid discussing it. While it is unlikely that he, along with his brother MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, would move to a different party, political observers are keeping a tab on the developments.

‘Spoke about Bhongir Fort’

The Bhongir MP, who is yet to acknowledge the change of guard at TPCC, told media persons that the meeting with the Union Minister was about the development of the historic Bhongir Fort.

Nothing Ear 1 price in India has been revealed on Flipkart to be Rs. 5,999. This is an unusual strategy by the new brand, which is backed by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, with the price revealed around two weeks prior to the official launch of the product on July 27. Furthermore, the Nothing Ear 1 will come with active noise cancellation, as per some details already revealed.

Nothing Ear 1 price in India
The company has gone with a strong pricing strategy for its first launch in India, with the Nothing Ear 1 set to be priced at Rs. 5,999 as per the landing page for Nothing on Flipkart. This follows shortly after the global pricing of the Nothing Ear 1 was revealed to be GBP 99 (approximately Rs. 10,200) by Nothing co-founder and CEO Carl Pei. The India pricing is considerably lower than the global pricing, which could be a smart decision given the competitive nature of the true wireless segment in India.

At this price, and considering that the earphones will have active noise cancellation, the Nothing Ear 1 will go up against options from brands such as Oppo, Realme, and OnePlus, along with some affordable options from brand such as Sony and Samsung as well. The feature set and design will give Nothing an edge, particularly the transparent casing which will be quite unique in a reasonably priced pair of true wireless earphones.

Nothing Ear 1 features
Not too much is known about the Nothing Ear 1, beyond the transparent design and the presence of active noise cancellation. However, Nothing has tied up with Swedish industrial design firm Teenage Engineering, and also appointed Manu Sharma, a senior executive with experience at Samsung, to spearhead operations in India.

Inside Story: Suresh Babu’s recommendation for Rana

Share

It is known that Rama Daggubati is sharing the screen space with Sai Pallavi for Viraata Parvam, periodic social drama that is being directed by Venu Udugula. Suresh Babu is co-producing this film along with Sudhakar Cherukuri.

Now, we an interesting update on the Rana and Sai Pallavi starrer.

Apparently, Suresh Babu recommended a few changes to the final script before the commencement of shoot. He asked the director Venu to extend Rana’s character in the film.

Initially, Rana’s role was more of an extended cameo appearance. After Suresh Babu’s inputs, the director reworked on the role and gave it more prominence in the script. This is when Rana came on-board for the project.

It appears to be that Suresh Babu’s recommendation is the reason why Rana’s role in Viraata Parvam was extended.

Viraata Parvam is in final leg of production and the makers are contemplating OTT release for the film. The final call will be taken soon and an official announcement will be made correspondingly.

Dutch leader says easing Covid-19 lockdown in Netherlands was ‘error of judgment’

Share

THE HAGUE: The Dutch leader apologised Monday for what he called “an error of judgment” in relaxing the Netherlands’ coronavirus lockdown, a move that has led to a sharp surge in infections.

Caretaker Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s government scrapped most remaining restrictions just over three weeks ago amid declining infection numbers and hospital admissions.

The easing meant that, among other public spaces, nightclubs and discotheques were allowed to reopen for the first time in more than a year.

On the first weekend after the relaxation, thousands of mainly young people flocked to clubs in towns and cities across the country.

Since then, infections have skyrocketed.

Rutte was forced to backtrack and on Friday reintroduced some measures to rein in the virus’ spread.

On Saturday, the country’s public health institute reported more than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases, the highest number of positive tests since late December.

“An error of judgment was made, we are sorry about that,” Rutte told reporters in The Hague.

Caretaker Health Minister Hugo de Jonge said the relaxation combined with a lack of social distancing and the delta variant “has had, of course, an accelerating effect.

You can unfortunately see that with hindsight.

The Netherlands is not alone in facing soaring infections.

Countries across Europe are scrambling to accelerate coronavirus vaccinations in the hope of outpacing the spread of the more infectious delta variant.

More than 46 per cent of the Netherlands’ adult population is fully vaccinated and more than 77 per cent of adults have had at least one shot.

Health authorities say they will administer first or second shots to more than 1.3 million people this week.

UN human rights chief urges ‘wide range’ of reparations over racism

Share

BERLIN: The U.N. human rights chief on Monday, July 12, 2021, urged countries to “fully fund comprehensive processes” and take “a wide range of reparations measures” to address the legacies of slavery, colonial rule and racial discrimination.

Michelle Bachelet presented to the U.N. Human Rights Council a landmark report launched after the killing of George Floyd in the United States and released last month. A year in the making, it hopes to build on momentum around the intensified scrutiny worldwide of the blight of racism and its impact on people of African descent.

Bachelet told the council in Geneva that research “could not find a single example of a state that has comprehensively reckoned with its past or accounted for its impacts on the lives of people of African descent today,” despite some attempts at seeking out the truth through apologies, litigation and memorialization.

She recommended that countries “create, reinforce and fully fund comprehensive processes –- with full participation of affected communities — to share the truth about what was done, and the harms it continues to inflict.”

“Establishing the truth about these legacies, and their impact today, and taking steps to address this harm through a wide range of reparations measures is crucial to healing our societies and providing justice for terrible crimes,” Bachelet said. “Measures taken to address the past will transform our future.”

The Human Rights Council commissioned the report during a special session last year following the murder of Floyd, a Black American who was killed by a white police officer in Minneapolis in May 2020. The officer, Derek Chauvin, was sentenced to 22 1/2 years in prison last month.

The U.S. charge d’affaires in Geneva, Benjamin Moeling, welcomed the “insightful and forthright report” in a video statement to the council.

“The United States is addressing these challenges, at home and abroad, honestly and transparently by tackling the underlying issues of racial discrimination and the use of excessive force in policing,” he said.

Om Birla replies on RRR’s dismissal request

Share

YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy has been trying his best to get Narasapuram MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju dismissed from the Lok Sabha. He has been warning Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla that he would call for a freezing of the house, if necessary action wasn’t taken on the request. Om Birla has finally responded today, saying that a call on the matter would be taken in due time, after hearing out the arguments of both sides.

Om Birla said that everyone has the right to protest, but that there’s a procedure for everything, and the same would be followed in RRR’s petition case. This is now making everyone wonder if RRR will even be disqualified from the Lok Sabha in the first place. With the Supreme Court recently giving a clear statement that it cannot interfere with the member disqualifications of either of the two houses (Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha), and that only the speakers of those respective houses hold the power, Vijayasai Reddy and the YSRCP have no other option, but to wait.

RRR has been filing counter responses to the petitions being filed by the members of the YSRCP. It is being said that all the MPs have been one major task by the high command of the YSRCP, and that is to make sure that RRR is disqualified from the Lok Sabha. Hence, they are filing a petition every week. However, given that the speaker has clearly stated that the decision will be taken according to the right procedure, it is now to be seen how long it will take for the speaker to take the decision, and what will happen ultimately.

Vishnu Manchu to bear the MAA building expenses

Share

By now everyone knows that hero Vishnu Manchu is contesting for Movie Artist Association’s presidential post. In this regard, he today released a video message in which he said that if the bigwigs like Krishna, Krishnam Raju, Chiranjeevi, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Murali Mohan and Mohan Babu unanimously elect one of MAA president this time, he will step down from the MAA presidency race.

Vishnu also revealed that he and his family would bear every cost for the construction of MAA building. If some elders sit down and unanimously choose one of them to lead MAA family, I will abide by their decision and withdraw from the competition. “I sincerely hope that you will bless our younger generation and bless me as MAA President,” he said.

However, another twist has taken place in MAA election with the comments of Manchu Vishnu. It is learned that Murali Mohan recently said that this time MAA president will be unanimous. Many doubts have been raised over the recent election as Manchu Vishnu has also mentioned the same thing.

On the other side, Prakash Raj had already announced his 27-member panel and is pulling support to win the polls this time. It remains to be seen what happens next.

Production House Goes To The Top League Just With One Blockbuster!

Share

We usually hear about how a director or an actor becoming overnight stars just with one film. But there is one production banner that entered the top league with just one success. It is ‘Homebale Films’ which is Kannada based production house that started making films from 2014.

While it made films with Kannada stars like Puneeth Rajkumar in the past, it was ‘KGF: Chapter 1’ that completely changed its fate. It was a pan-Indian film which was the costliest film ever made in their banner. While the trailer appealed to the audience, no one expected the sheer magnitude of its success. It landed them in a lot of profits and they became a huge production house in South India right now.

Apart from making ‘KGF: Chapter 2′ with a lot of budget, they are even bankrolling Prabhas’ pan-Indian project ‘Salaar’. This movie is being canned on a grand scale and there are high expectations on it. Apart from making huge pan-Indian films, they are even making straight Kannada big projects with Srimurali, Puneeth Rajkumar and others. But the analysts say that the result of ‘KGF 2’ is crucial for them as it can make them or break them. Let us see what happens!
