Google Data Center Project in Vizag Accelerates as Land Acquisition Nears Completion

The land acquisition process for the upcoming Google Data Center in Vizag has progressed swiftly, marking a significant milestone for one of Andhra Pradesh’s most important digital infrastructure projects. With compensation officially reaching farmers today, authorities confirm that groundwork for the foundation stone ceremony is nearly complete.
Spread across 588 acres, the state-of-the-art data center represents a major investment in the region’s growing technology ecosystem. The required land has been consolidated from three key locations: 308 acres in Tharluwada, 120 acres in Adavivaram, and 160 acres in Rambilli. District officials revealed that continued consultations with local communities have helped streamline the process, and the disbursal of compensation indicates that acquisition is now in its final phase.
For many farmers, the swift progress has come as a relief, particularly after waiting for clarity on compensation rates and timelines. Revenue authorities noted that landowners have shown strong cooperation, recognizing the long-term economic advantages this landmark project is expected to generate.
The Andhra Pradesh government has positioned the Google Data Center as a major catalyst for future development. Once operational, it is expected to enhance digital services, strengthen connectivity, and create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities in and around Vizag. Large-scale data centers also tend to spur allied industries—from construction and logistics to maintenance—ensuring economic benefits extend well beyond the project site.
With procedural barriers nearly resolved, attention now turns to the upcoming foundation-laying ceremony. As the project gathers momentum, both residents and officials remain optimistic that this pace will continue through the next stages of development.

Two Killed as Lorry Rams Halted Bus on Kurnool–Chittoor Highway

A tragic road accident on the Kurnool–Chittoor National Highway late Saturday night has once again raised concerns over night-time travel safety in Andhra Pradesh. A private Mythri Travels bus carrying 33 passengers from Hyderabad to Puducherry had halted near Perayipalli Metta in Allagadda mandal around 12:30 AM after two passengers requested a restroom break. Moments later, a speeding lorry crashed into the stationary bus from behind, causing devastating damage.
The impact was so severe that the rear portion of the bus was completely crushed. Two passengers, identified as Badarinath and Haritha, died instantly. Eight others sustained injuries, including one passenger who was critically hurt and shifted to Nandyal Government Hospital for emergency care.
Police teams, along with 108 ambulance services, responded promptly and transported the injured to the Allagadda CHC and Nandyal hospitals. The lorry driver, who remained trapped in the mangled cabin, was also rescued and moved for treatment.
Nandyal District SP Sunil Sheran visited the accident site and hospitals, interacted with the survivors, and directed officials to provide all necessary support to the victims and their families. A detailed investigation has been launched to determine why the lorry driver failed to notice the halted bus and what led to the fatal collision.
This accident comes just weeks after the devastating Kaveri bus fire in Rayalaseema’s Chinnatekur village, which claimed 20 lives. With two major bus tragedies occurring within a short period, concerns over road safety and night travel conditions in the region are once again under the spotlight.
Spike in NRI Heart Attack Deaths Raises Concern Among Families in India

A series of sudden heart attack–related deaths among Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) has sparked growing concern among families across India. In the latest incident, 32-year-old Abhay Patnala, a native of Eluru in Andhra Pradesh and resident of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away in the United States on Saturday morning. His grieving family has appealed to the Central government to facilitate the repatriation of his body.
Abhay’s death adds to a distressing pattern. Just a week earlier, 36-year-old Karthik Arisetty from Vijayawada succumbed to a sudden cardiac arrest in the US. His untimely passing dealt a severe blow to his family, especially after he had recently lost his father. Karthik leaves behind his wife and young daughter.
The past few months have seen similar tragedies involving Indians living abroad. In October, 37-year-old engineer Hariraj Sudevan from Kerala died of a heart attack in the UAE. In Canada, 40-year-old entrepreneur Ramandeep Singh Gill, a native of Macchiwara, also passed away due to cardiac arrest.
On September 3, Sai Krishna Rama Chander Raji Alluri (37), originally from Andhra Pradesh and an Indiana Wesleyan University graduate, collapsed during an evening walk in Virginia, US, with reports confirming a heart attack as the cause.
In another case, 35-year-old Microsoft engineer Pratik Pandey, born in Indore and residing in the US for nearly a decade, was found dead at his workplace courtyard in August. Preliminary reports suggested a possible heart attack. Earlier in May, a software engineer from Konaseema district, who was preparing to return home for his wedding scheduled on June 15, also died of cardiac arrest.
The repeated incidents have heightened anxiety among families of Indians abroad, prompting calls for awareness, timely health check-ups, and better support mechanisms for NRIs facing medical emergencies.

Shraddha Kapoor Fractures Toe During ‘Eetha’ Shoot, Takes Two-Week Break

Shraddha Kapoor has been navigating a whirlwind of controversies lately—from the Dawood-linked drug syndicate rumors to allegations about her jewellery brand copying designs, along with old debates over film credits. Amid all this, she tried to focus on her work, but fate had other plans.
While shooting for Eetha, a film based on the legendary Tamasha performer Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, Shraddha was intensively training for the Lavani dance sequences. During one shoot, dancing to an Ajay–Atul track, she shifted her weight incorrectly, resulting in a sharp slip and a fractured toe on her left foot.
The director immediately called for a break, but Shraddha, known for her determination, continued shooting for a couple of days, limiting herself to close-up emotional scenes due to the pain. Eventually, the team decided to pause the shoot for two weeks to allow her to recover fully, especially since most of the remaining sequences require her full movement and energy.
Centre Sanctions ₹39.84 Crore for Red Sandalwood Conservation in AP

The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), has released ₹39.84 crore to support the protection and conservation of Red Sandalwood in Andhra Pradesh. Of this, ₹38.36 crore has been allocated to the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department, while ₹1.48 crore will go to the Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board.
Deputy Chief Minister and Forest Minister Pawan Kalyan has taken a personal interest in strengthening Red Sandalwood protection efforts. During a recent inspection at the Tirupati Forest Department, he reviewed the seized Red Sandalwood stock, assessed security arrangements, and evaluated ongoing anti-smuggling operations. Expressing concern over continuing smuggling attempts, he assured that a special crackdown operation targeting smugglers would be launched soon.
In a parallel initiative, the NBA has approved the raising of one lakh Red Sandalwood saplings by the Andhra Pradesh Biodiversity Board at a cost of ₹2 crore, enhancing conservation efforts outside natural forests.
Red Sandalwood, prized worldwide for its deep red timber, grows naturally in select districts of the Eastern Ghats, including Chittoor, Kadapa, Anantapur, Prakasam, and Kurnool, particularly in the Seshachalam and Nallamala forests. Its high demand, especially in Japan and China, has made it highly vulnerable to illegal trade. Recently, the state government generated ₹87.68 crore through regulated auctions of seized Red Sandalwood.
With DCM Pawan Kalyan’s active involvement and support from the ruling coalition, the Centre has quickly sanctioned this significant biodiversity-linked funding. The move paves the way for the upcoming Red Sandalwood protection operation, which is expected to strengthen forest conservation, empower local Biodiversity Management Committees, support frontline staff, and boost the state’s fight against smuggling networks.

Apparao Shocks With Sudden U-Turn on iBomma Ravi Case
In a surprising turn of events, the father of arrested piracy accused iBomma Ravi has shifted his stance within just a few days. Earlier, Apparao expressed shock over his son’s alleged illegal activities and admitted that Ravi’s open challenges to the police and film industry were a mistake.
However, Apparao has now changed his tone, defending his son and questioning the current state of the film industry. He criticised the steep hike in theatre ticket prices and argued that audiences naturally turn to cheaper alternatives when costs rise. He also targeted producer C. Kalyan, who had earlier called for strict action — including encounters — against people like Ravi.
Apparao stated that only strong content draws audiences to theatres and blamed producers for inflating budgets. He added that he was willing to offer financial support for his son’s legal fight. This sudden reversal has sparked intense discussions across social media, adding a new twist to the ongoing controversy.
