Centre Sets A Deadline For Polavaram Project
Polavaram project is reckoned as the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh. Despite being a national project, the construction of it is going at snail pace. Initially the project’s target to get completed was in 2019. But due to the strained political equations between BJP and TDP, the project did not meet the deadline.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sujana Chowdary has posed a question regarding the project’s completion and in reply, the Centre has set a new deadline. In its written reply, the Centre extended the deadline to 2021 and added that due to technical issues in the contract with construction agencies, the project completion is pushed to 2021.
Centre’s reply also had details of the budget too. For the 2018-19, the total cost of the construction was Rs 3047 crore while Centre has supported with Rs 1400 crore. As per suggestions of Polavaram authority and central water commission, till date the Centre has sanctioned Rs 8614 crore for the project.
However on November 26th, 2019 the Finance ministry had stated that it will not release any funds until the state government sends audit reports of the expenditure so far.
The ruling YSRCP government is giving least preference for the Polavaram project and will the Centre’s new deadline meets the expectations is something to be seen. If not the budget of the project would further go up resulting in a delay.
V New Poster: Intense Nani, Fiery Sudheer
The new poster of Nani and Sudheer Babu’s V movie is out announcing the teaser release date as 17th February. In the new poster, the sharp faces of rugged Nani and foery Sudheer were shown in halves. Nani decided to be the baddie Rakshasudu and Sudheer had to be the Rakshakudu that fights back the baddie.
Nani changed his look like never before in a twisted mustache and looks like he is going to impress us with his extremely bad doings in the movie. Sudheer Babu too appears apt to fight for good, probably. Director Indraganti Mohan Krishna enthralled us with movies like Gentleman and Ashtachemma equally.
We have to see what really the ‘V’ is and how the two actors make it more interesting.
Select committees run into rough weather!
The constitution of select committees by Andhra Pradesh state legislative council chairman Mohd Ahmed Sharif to look into the two crucial bills – AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill, 2020 and the APCRDA (Repeal) Bill seems to have run into rough weather.
On Monday, the officials of the state legislature sent back the file on constitution of the select committees to the legislative council chairman on the ground that the committees cannot be constituted because the motion on the same was not passed in the council.
The officials reportedly mentioned that Rule 154 cannot be applied in the constitution of the committees.
Following this, members of the Telugu Desam Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and PDF met legislature secretary P Balakrishnamacharyulu and demanded that the committees be constituted since the chairman has the discretionary powers to do so.
They are now planning to serve a notice of breach of privilege on the legislature office, if the committees were not constituted as per the directions of the council chairman.
The two bills were passed in the state assembly on January 20, but were held back in the legislative council, which later announced that they would be sent the same to the select committee.
Subsequently, the Jagan government moved a resolution in the state assembly on January 27 seeking to abolish the legislative council and it was adopted unanimously.
Later, it was intimated that there would be two separate select committees for two bills and the chairman asked the political parties in the council to suggest names for these select committees.
Except YSRC, the other political parties sent the names of their representatives to the council chairman which announced the formation of committees.
The YSRC, however, has announced that as far as the government is concerned, the legislative council stood abolished.
YSRC floor leader in the council and minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose and party MLC Ummareddy Venkateshwarlu wrote a letter to the state legislature secretary P Balakrishnamacharyulu stating that the YSRC cannot send its names for the select committee, which was constituted against the rules and without following any procedure.
YSRC leader and advisor (public affairs) to the state government Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said there was no sanctity to the select committee which the legislative council chairman announced without following any rules. “Our party doesn’t acknowledge the select committee at all.
So, how can we suggest the names of our members to the committee that doesn’t exist at all?” he asked.
GHMC resolution against CAA, NRC a foolish act!
Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana unit on Monday described as a foolish act the latest resolution passed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation led by Telangana Rashtra Samithi against Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens.
BJP spokesperson K Krishnasagar Rao said the resolution publicly exposed intellectual and political bankruptcy of the TRS and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
“The GHMC mayor, deputy mayor and all the TRS and MIM members who voted for it have only made fools of themselves by passing a resolution against a central legislation at the local body level. More so, the GHMC has nothing to do with neither the city nor its administration,” he said.
Rao said the CAA literally had no impact at GHMC level, leave alone anywhere in Telangana state. NRC is a figment of imagination of moronic minority appeasers, as there’s neither a bill nor a law so far on national NRC. Only GHMC mayor and his deputy should explain how one can pass a resolution against a national law which is non-existent, he said.
“In a mad rush to please their bosses, both mayor and his deputy have done the unthinkable. They have become the first local body in the entire country to pass this type of a resolution to make themselves a laughing stock,” the BJP spokesman said.
Ex-intelligence chief is a traitor, alleges YSRC
YSR Congress party on Monday described senior IPS officer and former state intelligence chief AB Venkateswara Rao as a traitor and demanded that the central government issue a look-out notice for Rao in the wake of reports that there are chances of his escape from the country.
YSRC MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy said Rao was a corrupt official pampered by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. “He had bought many lands in Telangana with ill-gotten money. One Gattamaneni Srinivas is a Benami for Rao,” he said.
Chevireddy pointed out that the IPS officer owns 53.07 acres of land in Jadcherla, 57.59 acres in Pasuvula village, 64.20 acres in Chityala village.
“Moreover, he has taken about Rs 67 lakh through the Rythu Bandhu scheme for these lands. Apart from these, he owns 100 acres of land in Bengaluru,” he said.
The MLA said the state government had suspended Rao for the act of treason. Now, Rao has got time to take care of his illegally earned properties. “Rao is a big whale in corruption and there are chances for national security breach with such officers,” he alleged.
He requested that the Central government seriously consider the issue and conduct a detailed enquiry on Rao’s irregularities. Not only on Rao, but enquiry should also be conducted into his Benami G Srinivas and expose all the irregularities.
Fan To Samantha: Akka! Abbayo Ammayo Puttali Akka
Flaunting her ravishing looks in sleeveless revealing blouses and sexy sarees, Samantha is actually taking Telugu folks for a ride as she is promoting her latest movie “Jaanu”. Cutting a break amidst her tight schedules, other day she went to Tirupathi along with Dil Raju and Sharwanand to pay homage to Lord Balaji.
While she is returning from the temple, an incident has happened which has made the heroine blush. When she is on her way back to the guest house, many lady fans have tried to shake hand with her and some succeeded. As they addressed her as ‘Samantha Garu’, she felt very happy. Later an exciting lady fan commented, “Akka, Abbayo Ammayo Puttali Akka” after shaking her hand with the actress.
This made the star heroine break into laughs and she can’t stop blushing for a time. Of course, Samantha has confirmed during Jaanu promotions that she will be retiring after 2-3 years as she wants to have a family then. Though earlier she stated that she would plan kids at the age of 30, maybe her superstardom is not allowing her to give up career easily.
Anyway, not just that lady fan, many are wishing Samantha and Naga Chaitanya to start their family soon.
In Last Six years, ‘Rich’ Telangana Turns ‘Poor’!
The oppositions in the Telangana have been criticizing TRS government that CM KCR has pushed the state into debts in the last six years. However, CM KCR himself squashed these allegations and added that the state’s financial status is quite stable. But in his first budget of the second term, KCR had stated that the country is going through on economic slowdown and so it had an impact on Telangana too.
The Telangana BJP rubbished KCR’s comments on the economy and said that CM is covering up his inabilities by throwing the blame on the Centre. To get the real facts, Telangana Congress stepped into action. Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has asked about the budget allocations made to Telangana in the last six years.
Finance Minister Niramal Sitharaman has given a written reply to MP Komatireddy’s question. In the year 2014-15, Telangana was a surplus state but in the latter years, the state’s debts have piled up. From the central taxes share, Telangana received Rs 85,013 crore in the last six years. Under states disaster funds Rs 1289.04 crore and local bodies funds of Rs 6511 crore, for the development of backward districts Rs 1916 crore and for rural development Rs 3853 crore were released stated Nirmala in her reply.
Also for union government schemes and grant in aid a sum of Rs 51,298 crore and welfare of women and child Rs 1500.54 crore, were sent to Telangana by the Centre.
The numbers are there and it is up to the Telangana BJP now which is not able to counter TRS leaders allegations that the Centre is not supporting Telangana state by any means.
Jagan balances ‘Freebies’ by Tariff Hikes
In another shock, the YSRCP government has hiked the tariff of electricity. The hiked tariffs are applicable to users above 500 units monthly. Also after 500 units usage, one unit would cost 90 paisa more which means instead of the current rate which is Rs 9.05 paisa, the unit would cost Rs 9.95 paisa.
Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) took this decision in a meeting after DISCOMS have made it clear that the tariffs should be hiked or else they would go into huge losses. The hike can be seen as a balancing act of AP CM YS Jagan led YSRCP government’s welfare schemes i.e, freebies. For schemes like ‘Amma Vodi’ Rythu Bharosa, YSR Cheyutha, Village Volunteers, YSR Nethanna Nestham and Arogya Sri, all of them need huge funds.
For the year 2020-2021, Jagan government has allocated a budget of Rs 6318 crore for Amma Vodi scheme and so just imagine the case of other welfare schemes.
But the YSRCP government is reducing its prime revenue generator which is excise department. In order to compensate this, recently the government has increased the tax on fuel. The value added tax (VAT) on petrol was increased from 31 percent to 35.20 percent and on diesel, it was 22.25 percent and now it is at 27 percent. Then the APSRTC charges were also hiked and later the transport authority was dissolved with the state government.
Now the tariff of electricity is hiked. This hike may not impact the common man much but would burn the pockets of commercial users and also investors. In the coming days, the government may consider other departments under its wings to create revenue from its own sources.
3 Things Pawan Doesn’t Have, But Pawan Has 3 …
YSRCP has stepped its ante against Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan. YCP’s Anakapalli MLA Gudivada Amarnath has made sensational remarks against actor-politician Pawan Kalyan. Stating that Pawan Kalyan doesn’t have 3 things, he also said Pawan has 3 other things. Talking about the three things which Pawan doesn’t have, YCP leader said, “Pawan does not have stability, ideology and personality.” (Siddhantham, Sthirathvam, Vyaktitvam Ane Mudu Pawan Kalyan Ki Levu,” said Amarnath.)
Talking about the three things Pawan have, he said, “Everyone knows this.” He referred to Pawan Kalyan’s three marriages. Amarnath’s comments are drawing the ire of Janasainiks and Pawan’s hard-core fans.
YCP’s Amarnath went onto say that Pawan should either do politics or confine to acting in movies. He further said that Pawan’s glass tumbler was broken in the last general elections where Pawan lost in both the seats he had contested and the party secured only one MLA seat from Razole – Rapaka Varaprasad who is also now supporting Jagan’s government in principal.
One has to wait and see, how Janasena would counter attack YSRCP leader’s remarks.

Jaanu Result Proves The Current Tollywood Trend!
Definitely we can’t simply say that only commercial films will run at Telugu box office or small budgeted movies with novel concepts will click at the box office. But certainly, there is a mood of audiences that is to be considered here as that decides what type of movies will work in a particular season.
At a time when films like Pellichoopulu had released, many small films worked at the box office. Later, period movies like Rangasthalam, Mahanati have stolen the show. Then some high budgeted bonanzas like KGF worked out for a while. And then we have comedies like Brochevarervaru Ra doing well for a while. But from last December, irrespective of the ratings, some commercial movies are actually raking up the moolah at the box office.
In a row, films like Venky Mama, Prathiroju Pandage, Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo have worked out big time at the theatres, giving no room for small budgeted films or emotional movies to work out. In this not-so-feasible situation, Dil Raju thought that Jaanu would change the game, but it has to give up for the mood of people.
Looking at the collections from the box office, trade pundits are feeling that audiences are yet to give up their ‘commercial masala’ mood, and still the Sankranthi films are doing a bit better.

Samantha’s ‘Jaanu’ sari inspired of Kareena’s ‘Bebo’ Sari!
Samantha Akkineni looked beautiful in the pink organza sari which she wore to the ‘thanks meet’ of Jaanu. This pink coloured sari is something that you cannot take your eyes off and it is designed by Urvashi Sethi under her brand Pichhika.
Well, how many of you feel that you have seen the same sari somewhere else? Yes. You are right. Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor also has a same sari. While Samantha’s sari had ‘Jaanu’ written over it, Kareena’s sari has ‘Bebo’, which is her pet name. Kareena was seen wearing the sari during the promotions of her latest flick Good Newwz.
Both the actresses have pulled off the sari amazingly well. Undoubtedly, it is clear that Samantha has got inspired by Kareena and got the exact sari customised for herself.
Samantha’s fashion choices are perfect and she gives fashion goals to many women out there. But it is really inspiring to see that she is inspired by another actress. She finished out her look with a lot of eye shadow, neutral makeup, bright pink lips and hair in a braid.
