YSRC starts pacifying Amaravati farmers

Share

YSR Congress party government led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has firmly decided to create three capitals with administrative capital at Visakhapatnam.

And it is unlikely that there is any change in its stand, despite desperate attempts by the Telugu Desam Party.

But the biggest problem for the government is to placate the agitating farmers of Amaravati.

Notwithstanding the additional incentives it has offered in the decentralisation bill and APCRDA repeal bill, the farmers are also firm on seeing that the capital is retained at Amaravati.

Since it is not possible to pacify the farmers from the government side, the Jagan government appears to have decided to make the YSRC leaders to go into the agitating farmers, identify the neutral groups which can be mollified and then start negotiating with them over the capital issue.

As part of the strategy, ruling YSRC MP from Narsaraopet Lavu Krishna Devarayalu made a surprising visit to Mandadam village, the epicentre of the agitation by Amaravati farmers, which entered 45th day on Friday.

Rayalu sat along with the agitating women and farmers and expressed his solidarity with them. This is for the first time that any YSRC leader came to the farmers and supported their agitation. So, it was a surprise to the locals. Though they looked at him with suspicion, they did not create any troubles for them.

The YSRC MP sat down with the locals and addressed the farmers, who tried to obstruct his speech. They demanded the government to hold talks with farmers only after announcing the Amaravati as capital.

However, the MP pacified them and said that the committee would soon visit the capital region to hear their concerns.

He assured the farmers that the chief minister was very much sympathetic towards the problems of the farmers and he would definitely do justice to them.

In the coming days, more and more YSRC leaders are expected to visit the camps of agitating farmers and there is every possibility that they would lure the potential leaders and ensure that the agitation fizzles out gradually.

Rumour: Allu Family To Enter Construction Business

Share

By producing films, sending heroes to Film Industry from the family, owing theatres, venturing into distribution through their leased theatres network and now by starting OTT platform Aha, already mega producer Allu Arvind is proving his command over film industry in a big way.

Reports are coming that while Arvind is busy with OTT platform related stuff these days, he is also looking forward to entering another vertical. After YS Jagan started insisting on three capitals plan with Vizag being one of the capital, the mega-producer is thinking about entering construction business by planning to build some plush residential projects at his lands in Vizag.

Along with Chiranjeevi and couple of other cinema celebs, Arvind is said to have purchased huge scales of land in Vizag long back. And if the city gets real-estate boom now, Arvind’s mega ventures might succeed big time. However, it is not that easy to enter the construction business and build projects on time as huge investments are always in.

But with Dil Raju and his partners Sirish and Lakshman succeeding well in the construction business, Allu Arvind might have got some energy.

Telugu girl Madhavilatha who has shot to fame with Nachavule but later succumbed to some bad films ahs recently made her entry into politics through BJP and even contested unsuccessfully for Loksabha from Guntur. Other day she has stunned everyone with her Facebook post.

Can Council Officials Overrule Chairman Order?

Share

If the reports coming from the power corridors of Amaravati are to be believed, the officials of the state legislative council have turned down the orders of council chairman Mohd Ahmed Sharif referring two crucial bills on the state capital issue to the select committee.

Though there is no confirmation from the officials so far, there are reports that the officials of the state legislature rejected the decision of the council chairman on the ground that it was in the violation of rules.

The council officials reportedly told the chairman that the bill could not be sent to the select committee as no voting was conducted on the motion introduced by the leader of opposition in the council Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. Without voting, the bills cannot be sent to the select committee, as per rules, they told him.

The chairman himself said procedures were not followed in moving the motion seeking to send the bills to the select committee, but he declared that as per Rule 154, he was using his discretionary powers to send the bills to the select committee.

He then wrote to the parties to suggest the names of the members for the Select Committee. While the TDP sent its names, the YSRC has not done it so far.

In the meantime, reports said the government was bringing pressure on the officials of the legislature department to reject the move to send the bills to the select committee.

What’s wrong in Pawan acting in films?

Share

The resignation of former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) V V Lakshminaryana from Jana Sena Party may not be a big news, but the reason cited by him for quitting the party is something that interested everybody.

Lakshminarayana, popularly known as JD because of his earlier designation during his stint in the CBI, could not find any other reason for quitting Jana Sena except party president Pawan Kalyan returning to film acting.

Had he resigned from the party on ideological grounds or lack of leadership qualities in Pawan, Lakshminarayana would have got some justification. But, citing Pawan’s return to films as the reason is something silly for a person like former CBI joint director.

Lakshminarayana should have understood that Pawan is basically an actor and not a true politician. He is known to the world only as an actor; and when he goes into the people, they throng his road shows only to see their favourite hero in him and not the politician. Otherwise, his party would have got huge number of seats in the assembly elections.

Now that his party has been rejected by the people and there is still four years’ time to get back into political activity, Pawan has chosen to return to films to sustain his filmy charm in the people.

He knows that if he doesn’t act in films and fights the next elections only as a politician, he might not get even the six per cent votes he got in the last elections.

As Pawan rightly said in his statement, he needs money and his party also needs money for the next elections. Since he has no other activity to do, he has to act in films to make money. So, he has come back to films.

It is the fault of Lakshminarayana to understand Pawan Kalyan and not vice versa. The ex-CBI officer should have found a different reason for quitting the party.

Bunny Is A Regular Watcher In Theatres, But In A Mask

Share

Whenever a new film comes out, these are the days where all our star heroes watch those movies at their personal home theatres where they will have Qube and UFO projection systems installed. But there is this hero who doesn’t want to miss out watching movies along with other audiences and stop listening to their reactions.

Apparently Allu Arjun is the one we are talking about and whenever a big film or small films get a stupendous talk, he goes to theatres without hungama and watches them. Sources revealed that he will avoid going in his luxury car to the theatre, instead takest the car of some of his associates. Also, he wears a mask and makes sure that none catches him in action. After silently watching the movie with the crowd, he then comes back home carefully.

Bunny is said to be watching movies that way from years and hasn’t missed out watching many big films. That wonders us if he has gone to the theatres of Sarileru Neekevvaru, in the same way, to catch up on the film. His father Allu Arvind, however, confirmed that his son watched Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo in the same fashion.

HIT Teaser: Investigative Thriller

Share

After making an impressive debut with Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, Vishwak Sen grabbed several eyeballs with a rebellious role in his maiden directorial ‘Falaknuma Das’, the Telugu remake of Angamaly Diaries.

His next film has been titled as HIT and it’s an investigative thriller directed by debutant Sailesh Kolanu.

Starring Ruhani Sharma as the female lead, the film is jointly bankrolled by actor Nani and stylist Prashanti Tipirneni’s Wallposter Cinema.

The teaser of HIT has been released by Rana Daggubati on January 31 and going by the proceedings, it seems to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller.

The teaser showcases Vishwak as a disturbed cop who lost someone dear to him in the past. A situation arises where he might face something similar if he doesn’t get into the thick of things.

While the film revolves around a missing person’s case, the teaser establishes the gritty mood through the brooding portrayal of the protagonist.

While the music of HIT is composed by Vivek Sagar, S Manikandan has handled the camera and Garry BH, known for editing thrillers such as Kshanam and Goodachari, is the editor. The film is set for a release on February 28.

Aswathama Movie Review

Share

Naga Shaurya turned writer for his latest home production Ashwathama. It is a thriller that is reminiscent of last year’s release Rakshasudu. Shaurya does his best but it turns out to be a film that only works in parts.

What’s It About?

Gana (Shaurya) is in search of a serial sex offender who operates anonymously. Gana’s sister is one of his victims and he is hell bent in finding the invisible villain. The film is about how Gana gets to the monster.

Performances:

Naga Shaurya has tried action for the first time and he is convincing in this new avatar. Mehreen has a very limited role. Jisshu Sen Gupta steals the show with his effective portrayal of a psychotic doctor. None of the remaining star cast got noteworthy characters.

Technicalities:

Ramana Teja’s direction is uneven as he shines in some sequences and looks amateurish in others. A tightly woven screenplay is a must for films like this and Ashwathama’s screenplay seems half baked.

Songs are needless and not even one song is worth listening to again. Background score by Ghibran is very good. Camera work is also good considering the limited budget. Action scenes are shot well. Editing is okay. Production values are neat.

Thumbs Up:

Tense moments

Jisshu Sen performance

Thumbs Down:

Uneven Screenplay

Weak Climax

No Motive For Villain

Analysis:

Ashwathama is a different film for Naga Shaurya who usually does romantic entertainers. However, it doesn’t offer much freshness concept wise. It closely resembles Bellamkonda Srinivas’s Rakshasudu, which is a superior thriller in every aspect. Naga Shaurya, who penned the story for Ashwathama has incorporated contemporary elements like sexual violence against women and also did some research regarding how the crime is operated.

Hero has a strong motive to go after the villain, but he uses brawn than brain in his investigation. Logic goes for a toss in this entire search mission. However, the anonimity of the villain holds the interest and make it partly engaging in the first half. The villain is shown post intermission with a gruesome scene that makes you cringe in your seats. Raping a corpse in a mortuary is a disgusting intro to his character.

One would expect a strong motive for him to act like a monster. Proper explanation is not given to his psychotic behavior. While he operates his crime with so much care, the protagonist finds him very easily once his character is revealed. This is where Ashwathama falls flat as the protagonist is hardly challenged in his pursuit of finding the bad guy. The screenplay writers should have taken a cue from Tamil filmmakers that are doing fabulous job in making tense thrillers out of similar concepts.

Ashwathama is an okay thriller that has a few engaging moments and a solid performance from Jisshusen, but doesn’t have enough to keep you engaged all the time. It is a movie that suits for home viewing than thetarical experience.

Verdict: Ashwathama falls flat
