Decentralisation Is Buzz Word, Now!

Share

At a time when the anti-establishment media in Andhra Pradesh has stepped up its campaign in favour of Amaravati and against the YSR Congress party government’s move to create three capitals, Sakshi, the mouthpiece of the YSRC has come out with an interesting banner story in support of decentralisation.

It is on the proposal of Jharkhand chief minister Hemath Soren to have four sub-capitals, along with its capital city of Ranchi.

The Sakshi’s story says the proposal of Soren got an inspiration from decentralisation model of Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh.

The report went on to claim that Jagan’s model is getting nation-wide appreciation and has become a role model for other states.

It said experts suggest that mulit-capital concept is the only way of achieving all round development of the state.

It is a different matter that Soren does not want to shift the administrative capital from Ranchi and relocate secretariat, high court and assembly to three different capitals.

He only wants to create four sub-capitals on the lines of regional development zones proposed in AP for decentralising development, rather than administration.

Interestingly, the other two major Telugu dailies – Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy quoted a report published in RSS mouthpiece Organiser, which castigated Jagan for coming out with the three capitals concept and playing with the lives of the people.

Both the dailies quoted the RSS paper describing Jagan’s decision as “Tughlaqian decision” and seeking immediate central intervention.

Continuing with their anti-Visakhapatnam and pro-Amaravati campaign on Friday, too, the two anti-establishment dailies carried different stories.

Eenadu carried a banner story on how land sharks have already started resorting to land mafia activities in and around Bhimili area, while Andhra Jyothy’s lead story is on how Boston Consulting Group had done superficial study on decentralisation of governance.

Apart from these stories with their respective political leanings, the common story with public interest carried by all the three dailies was on Corona Virus that is creating havoc in China and how it has now entered India through affected patients coming from China.

The stories explained how the Telugu governments are taking precautionary measures to avoid spread of the disease.

Among other important stories that figured in the Telugu dailies are: establishment of fibrenet in the Telugu states at a cost of Rs 1500 crore, irritating questions being asked in the National Population Register, meeting between chief secretaries of the two Telugu states to sort out pending issues, resignation of V V Lakhsminarayana from Jana Sena etc.

Disco Raja Director is Back to Square

Share

Ravi Teja’s “Disco Raja” has completed its first-week run. With mere Rs 6.5 crore share in the first week from Telugu states, the film has completely brought down the star status of Ravi Teja.

This is a bigger dud than his previous movies “Nela Ticket” and “Amar Akbar Anthony”. Ravi Teja is now sulking for blindly trusting the director of “Disco Raja”.

When producer Ram Talluri had stopped the production as director was crossing the budget limits, it was Ravi Teja who backed the director. Buzz is that now Ravi Teja has spread negative remarks about this director Vi Anand.

Except “Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada”, the director’s three films bombed at the box-office. He will now be left with no new offers. He will have to prove himself from the start again.

Pawan Kalyan Should Sign More Movies!

Share

Pawan Kalyan working in two movies back-to-back has made Jana Sena leader VV Lakshminarayana quit the party. He has resigned from Jana Sena Party. However, Pawan Kalyan has support from the Bharatiya Janata Party. Producer and BJP leader Ambika Krishna said Pawan Kalyan should sign more movies.

“There is nothing wrong in Pawan Kalyan returning to movies. Even late NTR did the same. An actor’s job is to act in films. Pawan Kalyan should not restrict himself to these two movies. He should continue doing more films. At the same time, he should not put aside serving the public,” Ambika supported Pawan’s idea.

Is Ambika Krishna encouraging Pawan Kalyan to slowly quit politics or he is seeking dates of the star? Quitting Telugu Desam party, Ambika Krishna recently joined Bharatiya Janata Party.

Pawan Kalyan, on the other hand, is participating in the night shoots of the “Pink” remake.

Crucial Weekend for Ala Vaikunthapurramloo

Share

Allu Arjun’s “Ala Vaikunthapurramloo” has already emerged as the non-Baahubali blockbuster in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Now, it has to cross a major hurdle in the USA to be declared as a non-Baahubali hit. The film needs to collect another 60k dollar to create such a record.

Currently, “Rangasthalam” holds non-Baahubali record at the USA box-office with its lifetime gross of $3,513,450 ($3.51 million).

“Ala Vaikunthapurramloo” has every chance of crossing the lifetime gross of “Rangasthalam” this weekend.

Naga Shaurya’s “Aswathama” and Raj Kandukuri produced “Choosi Choodangane” are premiering now but they don’t pose much threat to Bunny’s movie.

With this film, Allu Arjun has not only conquered the USA market, but he has also added a huge demand for his next film that is being directed by Sukumar.

The makers will promote it as the combination of “Rangasthalam” (director Sukumar) and “Ala Vaikunthapurramloo” (hero Allu Arjun) to sell the rights for a hefty amount.

Local body polls to divert Amaravati issue?

Share

The ensuing local body elections in Andhra Pradesh scheduled to be held in February are expected to take a sting out of the ongoing controversy over three capitals, especially shifting of administrative capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam.

YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh is learnt to be working out a strategy to divert the attention of the people from the three capitals issue by focussing more on implementing Rythu Bharosa and Amma Vodi schemes more vigorously.

The announcement of distribution of pensions to the beneficiaries at their door step from February 1 is believed to be a master stroke as it would attract the voters in a big way.

So is the case with distribution of ration cards to the people so that they would get essential commodities also directly at their door step.

Minister for municipal administration and urban development Botsa Satyanarayana, who held a preparatory meeting with the officials on the local body elections, instructed the officials to see that the benefits of “Nava Ratnaalu” would reach the people at the earliest.

Botsa urged the officials to complete the construction of houses in towns and cities. He also suggested them to focus on filling the vacancies of secretariat posts.

He ordered officials to send village bvolunteers to the beneficiaries’ houses in next month to distribute the ration cards and pensions. He instructed officials to immediately pay the salaries to secretaries and volunteers.

The voters’ list would be made available for public on the 3rd of next month. She asserted that the Electoral Returning Officer would look after the errors in the voter list.

Releasing Today: Small Films Hoping To Takeover

Share

Sankranthi films have considerably slowed down and the last week’s release Disco Raja was gone without a trace. This gives a bit of hope for new films that are releasing today.

Ashwathama and Choosi Choodangane are out in theaters now and are hoping to grab the attention of film lovers that are done with the big ticket entertainment provided by the top stars during festive season.

Ashwathama is a crime thriller with Naga Shaurya flexing his muscles and doing some heavy duty stunts. The story for the film was penned by the actor himself and it is directed by Ramana Teja. It is produced by Naga Shaurya’s home banner Ira Creations.

Choosi Choodangane is a romance comedy that marks the debut of Shiva Kandukuri, son of Raj Kandukuri, who bankrolled blockbuster Pelli Chupulu. It is directed by Sesha Sindhu. A couple of songs from the film were a hit with the music lovers.

We have to see whether the small films takeover the box office from Sankranthi biggies before the February rush begins.

Dokka speaks in double tongue: What’s up?

Share

Strange are the ways of Telugu Desam Party’s legislative council member in Andhra Pradesh and former minister Dokka Manikya Varaprasad.

He announced his resignation from the council membership hours before the three capitals bill and APCRDA repeal bill came up before the council for discussion. He said he was quitting the post in protest against the three capitals bill.

Strangely, he did not send his resignation letter to council chairman but to party president N Chandrababu Naidu.

If he opposed the three capitals, he should have attended the council meeting and opposed it openly, but he indirectly favoured the YSRC by abstaining from voting.

If Dokkka really wanted to join the YSRC, he should have done it openly. But till now, he didn’t even resign from his TDP membership.

More than a week later, Dokka surfaced again and made some more strange comments. He said he had resigned from the council membership because he did not want the way the TDP dealt with the issue.

“My thoughts are different from that of the TDP. I didn’t want to be part of the chaotic atmosphere in the council and hence, I kept away from the council proceedings on that day,” he said.

Strangely, he said he was hurt at the way the legislative council had referred the two bills to the select committee.

“Such incidents are unfortunate to occur in a constitutional body like council,” he said.

What does he mean? Does Dokka want the YSRC to go ahead with three capitals formation? If that is the case, why did he oppose it in the beginning and resign from the MLC post?

Interestingly, Dokka also said he was not happy with the abolition of the legislative council by the YSRC government. This is all the more confusing. When Dokka himself did not want to be part of the council, what difference does it make for him if the council is abolished?

What is stranger is that Dokka, while saying that he had a lot of differences with the TDP leadership, expressed solidarity with the Amaravati farmers.

He said he had seen the plight of the Amaravati farmers who gave the lands for the construction of capital. He made it clear that he would stand by them until the justice is met.

YSRC to oppose BJP on CAA, NRC

Share

YSR Congress party appears to have given up its diplomatic stance in the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens and National Population Register and decided to fight it out with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Apparently realising that the mood of the nation is strongly against the CAA and NRC, which are considered to be anti-Muslim, the YSRC leaders, in the all-party meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday, told the BJP leaders that their party would strongly oppose the acts.

YSRCP leader and MP Mithun Reddy said that his party made it clear in the all-party meeting here on Thursday that it was against National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the National Population Register (NPR).

He said that the YSRCP will stand in support of the Minorities and sought a debate on the issue in Parliament as the information sought in NPR was different than what was asked earlier.

Mithun told reporters that there was a sense of unease among the Minorities in the country after the Citizens Amendment Act was introduced in Parliament.

“We will certainly oppose NRC and NPR if they were introduced by the Central Cabinet. We sought a debate on the issue to clear the insecure feeling among the Minorities,” he said.

He said CAA Bill was introduced as an issue related to three other countries and added that way in which it was introduced and the way it is going to be implemented is different.

“Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked us to oppose anything that is against the wishes of the Minorities,” he said.

YSR Congress Parliamentary Party leader Vijayasai Reddy was also present at the meeting. At the all-party meeting, they requested the government to release the pending funds for the state.

Samantha Effect: Prabhas To Go For Title Change

Share

From a long time, the rumoured title of superstar Prabhas latest flick being directed by Radhakrishna of Jil movie fame is ‘Jaan’. It is an Urdu word which means ‘life’ and also ‘lover’. Though the Baahubali superstar got a couple of other options in hand, he is very keen on this title.

The arrival of Samantha and Sharwanand with the film “Jaanu” has however changed his mind, they say. Apparently Sam’s craze is so high that whole of social media is right now buzzing with Jaanu whether all that hype will translate into box office footfalls or not. But the title ‘Jaanu’ became so popular and with that being the nickname of Samantha from the film as shown in the trailer, it is getting more attention.

As the names ‘Jaan’ and ‘Jaanu’ are more similar, Prabhas is said to have asked his team to go for a title change. Though Prabhas could create a rage with any title he chooses, definitely he doesn’t want even a remote closeness with any other title, says a source.

JD quits Jana Sena for strange reason!

Share

At last, former joint director of Central Bureau of Investigation and retired IPS officer V V Lakshminarayana has resigned from Jana Sena Party headed by power star Pawan Kalyan.

Popularly known as JD, Lakshminarayana, who joined the Jana Sena Party just before the general elections, on Thursday wrote a letter to Pawan Kalyan stating that he was quitting the party.

But one would be surprised to know the reason for JD’s resignation from Jana Sena. In his letter, JD mentioned that he was quitting the party in protest against Pawan Kalyan’s decision to act in films again.

“You asserted several times in the past that you would dedicate your entire life to the service of the people and that you would not get back into films. But now, you have started acting in films to make money. It clearly shows that you don’t have any principles on which you can stand firmly. That is why, I have decided to resign from Jana Sena Party,” JD said.

He said he would thank every voter who had voted for him and every party worker who stood by him in the last parliament elections in Visakhapatnam.

“I will always be available for Jana Sena party workers, leaders, youth and women in my personal capacity for whatever service I can render to them,” he said.

JD wished Pawan Kalyan, his family members and party workers all the blessings from the Almighty forever.

It is not clear as to what future course of action JD will take. Since Pawan has joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party, he might not join the BJP with which he was associated indirectly in the past.

For quite some time, JD has been continuing his social service activities and not involved in any party meetings.

In fact, there were reports in the past that JD would resign from Jana Sena, but he later clarified that he would continue to sail with the party as long as Pawan Kalyan wanted him.

He even tweeted then: “Rumours are carried by haters, spread by fools and accepted by idiots. Decide to which category you belong.
