Jagan is a leader with guts, says JC

Share

Strange are the ways of former Anantapur MP and senior Telugu Desam Party leader J C Diwakar Reddy. Nobody knows what he speaks and what stand he will take while making political comments.

Sometimes, JC makes a scathing attack on YSR Congress party government and some other times, he takes a complete U-turn and showers praises on chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

On Wednesday, JC once again made strange comments. He described Jagan Mohan Reddy as a leader with guts who would take bold decisions on whatever he wanted to do.

He gave full marks to Jagan for his six-months rule and schemes like Arogya Sri would go a long way to benefit the people, JC said.

“I wanted to say what I felt. I don’t mind whatever our leader Chandrababu Naidu thinks about me,” JC said.

While appreciating Jagan for giving prominence to Reddys in various nominated posts, JC said Naidu could not do justice to Kammas. However, he also took pot shots at the chief minister for resorting to revenges on his political rivals.

“He is behaving more like his grandfather Raja Reddy,” he said.

Lone Jana Sena MLA embarrassing Pawan!

Share

The only MLA of Jana Sena Party Rapaka Varaprasad representing Razole in East Godavari district, has turned out to be an enigma for party president and actor Pawan Kalyan.

On one hand, Rapaka claims that he has no intentions to change the party as was being speculated in the media and will remain with the Jana Sena; but on the other, he does not leave any opportunity to shower praises on YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

At the same time, Rapaka is hardly seen in the Jana Sena Party activities, though Pawan Kalyan is extensively touring different parts of the state to highlight the alleged failure of Jagan government.

Even when Jana Sena chief is taking up day-long deeksha on farmers’ issues, Rapaka chose to stay away from the programme on the pretext that he is busy with assembly sessions.

On Wednesday, Rapaka praised Jagan government for implementation of welfare schemes, though he said the government has been lagging behind in the developmental works.

What is more embarrassing to Pawan was Rapaka’s appreciation for Jagan for deciding to introduce English medium in government schools. He said it was not a good practice to oppose the decision.

“During the TDP regime, Chandrababu Naidu, too, tried to introduce English medium in government schools, but could not fulfil it. Now the new government has made a good decision for the poor students,” he opined.

Rapaka pointed out that many students in the past had not been able to get good jobs due to lack of English language. Now with the government’s decision, even poor students were studying in English medium. There is nothing wrong with this decision,” he said.

Rapaka’s view is exactly contrary to Pawan Kalyan’s stand, as the latter was vehemently opposing the forcible introduction of English medium in the schools.

The MLA, however, said Pawan, too, was not opposed to English medium, but only wanted both the mediums to continue.

Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo Teaser: A Well-Packaged Trivikram’s Celluloid

Share

Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo has been making a lot of noise with its sensational hit musical numbers and colorful looking posters.

The much awaited teaser of AVPL lives up to the expectations as it promises to be a well-packaged entertainer with all the elements that cater to all sections of audience.

Allu Arjun is looking at his stylish best in a role that looks tailor-made for him. The dialogue, expression and the last ‘beedi lighting’ shot showcases his mass side. The teaser revolves around Allu Arjun, but also covers all the main star cast.

Trivikram’s mark is present all over the teaser and many shots have an uncanny resemblance to that of the director’s industry hit Attarintiki Daredi.

Bankrolled by Harika Hassine Creations Radha Krishna and Geetha Arts Allu Aravind, AVPL looks like a perfect Sankranthi film.

Family entertainers have been doing exceptionally well at Sankranthi box office in recent times and Ala Vaikunthapurramulo ticks all the boxes that the festive crowds look for in terms of movie entertainment.

Trivikram fans will be happy to see the director back to his strengths as they missed his ‘trademark’ in his previous outing Aravindha Sametha. Also Allu Arjun fans will be rejoiced to see him in his zone after his uncharacteristically serious act in Naa Peru Surya. On a whole, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo teaser will instil confidence in its buyers and create worries for its competition.

When Jagan found fault with his own paper!

Share

When YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy found fault with his own newspaper Sakshi openly in the state assembly for wrong reporting, it naturally becomes a big news for the rival papers.

That is what Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy did on Wednesday. The chief minister’s statement that his government had never made any promise to supply “sanna biyyam” (fine rice) through fair price shops and that Sakshi had wrongly reported has become a headline for both the dailies.

Eenadu even highlighted the fact that Jagan had displayed the clipping of ETV in the assembly to nail Sakshi, while Andhra Jyothy prominently mentioned his statement that “Sakshi had wrongly reported.”

As a matter of fact, both Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy also carried the reports originally, quoting civil supplies minister Kodali Nani’s press conference that the state government would supply “sanna biyyam” to the consumers. Later, ETV carried a follow-up report that it was Swarna variety of rice.

But when the debate was going on in the assembly, the authorities apparently misled the chief minister that only Sakshi had reported on supply of fine rice and showed Eenadu clipping carrying the follow-up report about supply of Swarna type of rice.

At the end of the day, the debate projected not only the Jagan government, but also Sakshi daily in bad light. However, Sakshi did not highlight Jagan’s comment on its error in reporting.

The debate over Rythu Bharosa, onion supply and challenges and counter-challenges over Heritage Fresh also made it to headlines on the front pages of the three major Telugu dailies. Andhra Jyothy projected Naidu’s challenge to the government on Heritage Fresh, Sakshi sought to highlight how the TDP and Naidu had beaten a retreat when the government put forth the facts before the House.

The increase of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus fares with effect from today was prominently highlighted by Eenadu and Andhra Jyothy, to convey the message that the decision is going to cause huge burden on the consumers. Andhra Jyothy made it a banner story and Eenadu carried it at the bottom; Sakshi ignored it for its own reasons.

The introduction of Citizen’s Amendment Bill in Rajya Sabha, amidst nationwide protests, is yet another story that hit the headlines in the front pages of all the three dailies. Eenadu made it as a second lead story highlighting the protests.

The flyer story carried by Sakshi on the anguish expressed by President of India Ramnath Kovind over growing atrocities on women is a thought-provoking report. Alongside, the daily also carried a curtain raiser on the proposed bill to be introduced by the YSR Congress party government in Andhra assembly to fast track the trial of the rape cases.

The anchor story of Sakshi is also a very interesting one – it is on increasing pollution of all major rivers in the Telugu states, including Godavari and Krishna. Such stories will definitely increase the credibility of the paper.

On the other hand, Andhra Jyothy carried a special report on fake websites of prominent temples which are looting people.

The debate in the AP legislative council over continuing of Telugu medium in government schools is yet another report that appeared only in anti-establishment papers. As expected, Sakshi pushed it to inside pages.

DSP Needs To Take A Cue From Thaman

Share

Devi Sri Prasad, who used to be the number one music director in Telugu Cinema industry, is currently struggling to find form.

There was hope that the ace musician will bounce back strongly with Sarileru Neekevvaru. But he is simply rehashing his old tunes and is delivering some pretty ordinary songs for this biggie.

Devi Sri Prasad should take a cue from Thaman who took a brief break and reinvented his music. There is a lot of difference in Thaman’s music post the break. He has delivered some chartbuster songs in Tholi Prema and Aravindha Sametha.

Thaman has outclassed himself with Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo that has made him the most sought after music director in the industry now. Devi also needs a break before he gets sidelined, totally.

Naidu Threatens Speaker Thammineni

Share

The AP Assembly on Wednesday witnessed pandemonium during Question Hour with Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu making derogatory remarks against Speaker Thammineni Sitharam.

When the members were discussing a question on introducing English medium in the government schools and Chandrababu Naidu was speaking on the issue, Legislative Affairs Minister Buggana Rajendranath said that the issue is posted to Thursday for detailed debate and the members can have detailed and lengthy discussion.

He wanted the Speaker to stop further discussion on the issue now and take up next question.

At this stage, Chandrababu Naidu insisted on the discussion and made some harsh remarks against the Speaker which ignited heated debate.

The Speaker too took strong exception to the gestures and harsh and objectionable remarks against the chair. He wondered how Chandrababu Naidu who claims to have 40 years’ experience questions and disrespects the chair.

Even as the ruling party members objected to Naidu’s remarks, the TDP chief continued to threaten the Speaker pointing his finger at the chair further triggering the debate.

YSR Congress members Ambati Rambabu, Jogi Ramesh and Minister Anil Kumar Yadav demanded suspension of Chandrababu Naidu from the House for his remarks.

The ruling party members demanded that Chandrababu Naidu be suspended from the House for his derogatory remarks against the Chair.

However, the Speaker excused the remarks made against the chair by the leader of the Opposition and sought the cooperation of the members avoiding degradation of the office of the chair.

Kartikeya’s Flops Prove Ajay Bhupathi’s Talent

Share

Getting success or fame is tough, and retaining it is even tougher. Many stars had seen success with their first or second films but soon vanished out of the screen due to bad choices or overconfidence. Similarly, Kartikeya who shot to fame last year is now standing at the crossroads.

Four movies starring Kartikeya were released this year – ‘Hippi’, ‘Guna 369’, ‘Gang Leader’ and the latest ‘90ML’ and all of them had witnessed the same result.

While he can boast that he had four releases in a single year, these movies also exposed his real talent or lack of it. The films have proven that it was director Ajay Bhupathi’s brain that made ‘RX100’ a smash hit.

Even as Ajay Bhupathi is struggling to take his second film to the sets, he has a reason to rejoice that he has delivered a flop yet unlike Kartikeya.

With four flops in a single year, Kartikeya indirectly proved that all the credit for ‘RX100’ goes to its director.

Watch: Naidu Needs Medical Assistance

Ruling YSR Congress MLA Appala Raju, a doctor by profession and a first-time MLA made sarcastic comments on Leader of Opposition and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday.

He spoke in the Assembly when the House was discussing about the remarks of Chandrababu Naidu against Speaker Thammineni Sitharam.

Appala Raju said that Chandrababu Naidu has aging problem and also a psychological disorder which require immediate treatment.

He said as a first time MLA, he wanted to learn from Chandrababu Naidu who is experienced and who had served as chief minister for 14 years and has 40 years of public life.

However, Appala Raju said that Naidu, because of the age problem, is losing psychological balance and deserve medication and rest.

“Chandrababu Naidu had served the people for 40 years. It is time he should be given rest and medical support from the government. The government should give him enough rest and health support in recognition of his services to the state,” Appala Raju said sending the House to laughter.

Kesineni Defies Naidu, A Tit-For-Tat

Share

Telugu Desam Party’s Lok Sabha member from Vijayawada Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani created ripples in the party by defying the party line on Citizen’s Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha, which passed the bill on Monday night amidst intense discussions.

While the TDP decided to support the bill for its own reasons, Nani abstained from voting when Lok Sabha speaker called for a division in the House.

However, two other MPs – Galla Jayadev and K Rammohan Naidu voted in favour of the bill. So did all the 12 YSR Congress party MPs.

Kesineni told the reporters later that the CAB is against the fundamentals of the Constitution.

“It discriminates a section of people getting Constitutional rights. I cannot support such a bill, irrespective of the party’s stand,” he said, adding that he cannot act against his conscience.

Though the TDP has not issued any whip for the voting, it was a clear case of defiance of party stand by Kesineni. The only solace for the party is that he did not vote against the Bill.

Though Nani had taken a different stand against the party on other occasions in the past, too, TDP president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is not a position to take any action against him, since there are only three MPs for the party in Lok Sabha. He has remained helpless!
