Why different rules for Jagan, Chidambaram?
Senior Congress leader and former Union finance minister P Chidambaram is presently counting the bars in Tihar jail in New Delhi in connection with CBI cases into INX Media money laundering cases and a couple of other scams.
The Supreme Court has not granted bail because the CBI has strongly resisted the same stating that he might influence the witnesses in the case. Yet, the Congress leadership is desperately trying to get the 74-year old leader out on bail.
On Sunday, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah held an all-party meeting for the smooth conduct of Parliament proceedings during the winter session commencing on Monday, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad put forth a request to the home minister Amit Shah to ensure that Chidambaram gets the permission to attend the Parliament session.
Naturally, this angered YSR Congress party’s parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy who was also present at the all-party meeting.
“This is nothing but double standards being adopted by the Congress,” he criticised.
He pointed out that the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government had not allowed YSRC president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who was then Kadapa MP, to attend the Parliament session to represent his constituency issues.
Jagan was then in Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad in connection with a CBI case.
“Our leader was imprisoned by the then Congress government by foisting false cases against him. Despite repeated requests, it had not given him permission to attend the Parliament session,” he pointed out.
The same Congress leadership, which is now in the opposition, is seeking permission for Chidambaram, who was also thrown behind bars in the CBI cases on the lines of Jagan in the past, to attend Parliament.
“When Jagan was not granted permission to attend Parliament, why should Chidambaram be given the permission? The Centre should not give any such exemption to Chidambaram. Why different rules for Jagan and Chidambaram?” Sai Reddy asked.
Accusing the Congress of adopting double standards, the YSRC leader said the Centre should allow the law to take its own course in the matter.
Lingamaneni Becomes Bankrupt!
Lingamaneni Ramesh, the promoter of Lingamaneni Estates Private Limited (The LEPL), that has promoted several real estate projects in and around Amaravati, the existing capital city of Andhra Pradesh, has gone bankrupt.
The LEPL has filed an insolvency petition before the National Company Law Tribunal on November 14, stating that the company had been in huge losses and that it was not in a position to repay the loans to its creditors.
A notification to this effect was released in the media by Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India on Monday in the name of Interim Resolution Professional M S Mano Ranjani.
The insolvency resolution would be processed and the exercise would be completed by May 12, 2020.
The notification has called for all the creditors, who had given loans to Lingamaneni Estates, to submit their claims along with proofs on or before November 29.
The Lingamaneni Estates was incorporated in March 1996, with its registered office in Vijayawada and corporate office in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
Ramesh had taken up several real estate ventures in coastal districts, particularly near Vijayawada and Amaravati. He also floated an airlines project – Air Coasta, but it did not take off.
He allegedly collected huge money from the customers towards advance payments of the projects. Now, he has to pay back all the money.
Since his projects did not take off and money was locked up, Lingamaneni threw up his hands and filed the insolvency petition, sources said.
Lingameni recently shot into headlines when the YSR Congress government headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy served a demolition notice to his guest house constructed on the banks of Krishna river at Vundavalli unauthorizedly.
The guest house was leased out to Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who is still staying in it. The issue is now in the high court.
Jagan Issue: Amit Shah Serious on Vijay Sai Reddy?
Ahead of Parliament’s Winter Session, an All-party meeting has been held at Parliament Library Building in Delhi which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah besides Parliamentary Party Leaders of various political parties. As part of the custom, the all-party meeting was called for smooth functioning of the upcoming Parliament session.
However, an interesting incident took place in the meet when YSRCP parliamentary party leader Vijay Sai Reddy raked up YS Jagan’s topic. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior members have reportedly expressed their displeasure over raising Jagan’s topic in the all-party meeting. Vijay Sai Reddy has been reportedly advised to not to repeat such acts and asked him to be cautious of what to speak at such high level meet convened ahead of Winter Session.
Going into details, the Congress Parliamentary Party Leaders have asked to permit their senior leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram, who is in remand, to attend parliament’s winter session. At this time, Vijay Sai Reddy has raised objection raising YS Jagan Reddy’s 16-month jail tenure when he was MP and how he was denied bail and not allowed to attend Parliament’s Sessions. This has irked both Amit Shah and Congress leaders who told Vijay Sai Reddy that Jagan is no longer MP and Jagan’s topic is irrelevant. Amit Shah reportedly told Vijay Sai Reddy that Congress has made its request and it has been noted by the Union Government. He advised Vijay Sai Reddy to not raise political and irrelevant points at all-party meeting. With this, Vijay Sai Reddy reportedly turned silent. Congress leaders have also told Vijay Sai Reddy strongly that how can he compare Chidambaram with Jagan. Vijay Sai Reddy reportedly got full class from senior leaders at the all-party meeting.
Meanwhile, the winter session of Parliament starts from today i.e November 18 till December 13. The meeting was also attended by Union minister Thawarchand Gehlot, Congress’ leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and deputy leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma.
TMC leader Derek O Brien, LJP leader Chirag Paswan and Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav, Telugu Desam Party Jayadev Galla and YCP’s V Vijaysai Reddy were among those present at the meeting. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had on Saturday appealed to all political parties for cooperation for ensuring smooth functioning of the House.
English medium: Jagan move right, say netizens!
The decision of YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to introduce English medium compulsorily in all the government schools in the state might have become politically controversial.But the common people seem to be appreciating the move, as it will go a long way in improving the educational standards in the schools and improving the competitiveness of the students across the globe.
This was proved by an online survey conducted by Greatandhra.com in the last one week.The survey on the topic: “Is it wise to introduce English medium in all government schools in AP?” was conducted between November 11 and 18, in which as many as 14,312 readers took part and expressed their views.
According to the survey that concluded at 9.26 am on Monday, a huge majority of people – as many as 10,301, out of the total number of 14,312 netizens who took part in the online polling, felt that the decision was right. They account for 71.97 per cent of the total votes polled.
Only 3,507 people, accounting for 24.5 per cent, said “no” to Jagan’s decision, indicating that they do not appreciate the introduction of English medium in government schools.
The remaining 504 voters (accounting for 3.52 per cent) were undecided, as they couldn’t say whether Jagan’s decision was right or wrong.
May be, they want both English and Telugu mediums to continue and the choice should be left for the students and their parents to decide.

Pawan Kalyan Beats Drum For Chandrababu Naidu
Andhra Pradesh politics are turning quite interesting. The Jana Sena and the Telugu Desam Party have come together in open as if they are alliance partners.The TDP is not happy for two reasons – it lost the power and Jagan Mohan Reddy won. The TDP is not able to digest the fact that Chandrababu Naidu is not the chief minister of the state. The rank and file of the TDP are upset as Jagan Mohan Reddy is sitting in the hot seat.
Like the TDP cadre, even the Jana Sena chief is not happy with Chandrababu Naidu losing power. He is also not happy with Jagan Mohan Reddy is occupying the top seat.While they have no option to reverse the voters’ verdict for the next five years, the two leaders are fighting together against the government.
Pawan Kalyan found that Jagan Mohan Reddy is destroying whatever Chandrababu Naidu had done for the State in the last five years.The Jana Sena chief said that Jagan Mohan Reddy government is working with vengeance than with any agenda for the development of the State.The latest tweet of Pawan Kalyan shows how upset and worried is Pawan Kalyan with Chandrababu Naidu’s defeat.

Advertisements Makes All The Difference!!
After a long time, the YSR Congress party government has released a full-page jacket advertisement to the major newspapers in the state on the steps being taken by the government to overcome sand crisis and how sand is now available without any hassles to the people who require the same for the construction.
The advertisement is obviously aimed at putting to an end the malicious campaign being unleashed by the opposition parties over the last few weeks over sand crisis in the state.
The advertisement has all the details of sand reaches and stock points in all the districts along with the rate at which it is supplied.
Needless to say, Andhra Jyothy has not been given the advertisement, though it is one of the major dailies, for the simple reason that it has been carrying a negative propaganda against the government.
Though Eenadu also belongs to the rival camp, it got the advertisement because it is still No. 1 daily in the state.
The advertisement has its reflection on the coverage of news by the dailies. Eenadu did not carry a single negative story against the Jagan government at least in the front page on Monday.
Its banner story is about the all-party meeting held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the eve of parliament sessions, wherein he exhorted the need to enhance the image of the august house.
What is more, Eenadu also carried the objections of YSR Congress parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy’s objection to the Congress party seeking bail to Chidambaram for attending the parliament session and his poser as to why the same rule was not applied to YSRC president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy when he was in jail in 2012-13.
The other positive stories carried by Eenadu were TTD chairman Y V Subba Reddy’s clarification that there was no question of increasing the price of Tirupati laddu and all steps being taken by the government to purchase paddy cultivated in Kharif season.
On the other hand, Andhra Jyothy which did not get the jacket advertisement, unleashed a string of negative stories on the page-1 – Jagan’s government’s proposal to sell university lands as part of resource mobilization as its banner story, Vijay Sai Reddy being pulled up for raking up Jagan’s bail issue at the all-party meeting, commotion in the state government over Centre’s refusal to release funds for Polavaram, former minister Devineni Uma’s outburst against YSRC ministers, Pawan Kalyan’s criticism against Jagan’s vindictive politics and the anchor story on lack of financial resources for village secretariats.
Sakshi, of course, its own brand of stories – the banner story on need to promote English language as medium of instruction for education and employment, supply of adequate electricity in tune with the demand and a small anchor story on Kondaveedu fort.

Besides Pawan, No One Exists in Jana Sena?
Jana Sena party won only one seat in Andhra Pradesh but even the lone MLA never gets a chance to talk about his party’s stand.The party’s president Pawan Kalyan never invites him to sit beside him in addressing the media on various issues nor he encourages the MLA to speak on his own.
Forget about that lone MLA, there are no leaders in the party to organize a press conference.Other than Pawan Kalyan, no one gets the spotlight. The party has now become one-man’s party, observes a political analyst.It is not that the film doesn’t have well-known faces. Former speaker Nadendla Manohar and CBI’s former joint director Lakshmi Narayana are the most prominent leaders in the party but they are not coming forth to counter the YSRC party.
Nadendla is regularly spotted with Pawan Kalyan but he is not speaking up. Lakshmi Narayana is maintaining a low profile. The party has not strengthened its cadre. It doesn’t have second-rung leadership.
No wonder then that Jana Sena has been dubbed as One Sena.
Auditors express doubt over NDTV’s survival
NDTV’s auditors are of the view that there is a significant doubt on the ability of the company to continue as a going concern.The report was submitted to the board of directors of NDTV on November 12 by BSR & Associates, Chartered Accountants signed by its partner, Rakesh Dewan.The auditors’ report that the parent company which runs the television business, current liabilities exceed its current assets by Rs 88.92 crore. These conditions, along with other conditions cast a significant doubt on the ability of the company to continue as a going concern, BSR said.
“We draw attention to Note I of the statement’ wherein it is explained that company, which runs television business, has incurred a net loss of RS 10.16 crores (Rs 1,016 lakhs) and Rs 1.17 crores (Rs. 117 lakhs) during the quarter and six months period ended 30 September 2019: and, as of that date, the company’s current liabilities-exceed its current assets’ by Rs 88.92 crores (Rs 8,892 lakhs),” the auditors said.”Management has said that the company has initiated certain strategic and operational measures to mitigate the uncertainty. Accordingly, they have prepared the statement on a going concern basis. Our conclusion is not modified in respect of this matter,” the report said.
In a note to the board of directors of NDTV, the auditors have reviewed the statement of unaudited results for the quarter ended 30 September 2019 and year to date results of the period from 1 April to 30 September 2019.NDTV announced that after five consecutive quarters of profit, the NDTV group has declared a loss of Rs 10.27 crores. Of this, a loss of Rs 10.16 crores were from the television operations mainly due to a fall of advertising revenues, a challenging environment arid the slowdown in the overall economy.
