He also spoke about the reaction from industry friends and senior actors Nagarjuna, Venkatesh and others.

“Apart from audiences, positive feedback from my industry friends gave me high satisfaction. I and Nagarjuna watched the film in a controlled theatre. By end of the film, Nagarjuna eyes turned red. He became speechless and hugged me emotionally. To my surprise, Venkatesh too had come home and applauded me by kissing. Also, Mahesh Babu had tweeted in support of the film and many other directors have directly come home to share the feedback with me.” – said Chiranjeevi when asked to share the best compliments he received.

‘What more do an actor can expect apart from all the positive applause from the fellow actors!’ – added Megastar.

Joining TDP Is Big Mistake, Jagan is Missile – Jupudi

Share

In a major set back to TDP and Janasena, both of its leaders have joined Jagan’s party. Ex MLC and former chairman of SC Corporation Jupudi Prabhakar has returned to YCP.

Jupudi, who had quit YCP and jumped into TDP in 2014, has finally returned to ruling YSRCP. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has welcomed Jupudi into party fold by felicitating him with a shawl. Meanwhile, ex MLA of Rajahmundry town and ex Janasena leader Akula Satyanarayana had joined Jagan’s party.

Interestingly, Jupudi admitted his mistake and stated that he is regretting his decision to join TDP. He said it was his mistake to join TDP and said he is correcting the mistake now.

He further said that he wouldn’t repeat such mistakes in future. Heaping praises on Jagan, Jupudi called Jagan as “missile”. He said Jagan’s implementation of reservation in nominated posts is being hailed across the country. Jupudi said he is impressed with the way the state is being progressed under Jagan’s rule.

IT can be noted that, Jupudi had severely criticized Jagan and his party while leaving YCP in Aug 2014 and while joining TDP later in Dec 2014. Even during his stint at TDP, Jupudi had been a harsh critic of Jagan and YCP. Jupudi’s return to YCP is seen as a shock to TDP.

It has once again proved, there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics. It is heard that Vijay Sai Reddy had played crucial role in bringing back Jupudi into party. Jupudi has praised Vijay Sai Reddy as a Man with Iron Fist and determination. Akula also praised Jagan and Vijay Sai Reddy.

‘Have become thickskinned about film reviews now’

Share

Mumbai: Actor Anil Kapoor, who is still going strong after four decades in Bollywood, has said that negative reviews used to affect him in his early days because his hard work would be ignored, but now he has become thick-skinned.

Anil Kapoor was addressing the media at the launch of Khalid Mohamed’s book “The Aladia Sisters” along with Karan Johar, Javed Akthar and Asha Parekh on Tuesday in Mumbai.

Mohamed has worked as a journalist, editor, film critic, screenwriter and film director. On being asked if Mohamed’s film reviews hurt him, and if he could recall any of the critic’s caustic reviews, Kapoor said: “There are quite a few films. Right now, the film that comes to my mind is ‘Beta’ for which I won the Filmfare Award as Best Actor. He titled his review as ‘Beti’ (laughs)! Fortunately, the film was a huge success at the box-office.”

“Beta”, released in 1992, became a blockbuster at the box-office, and many among the audience and the trade alike had attributed the film’s success to its heroine Madhuri Dixit at the time.

“The second film is ‘Lamhe’,” Kapoor continued, adding: “I think reviews of ‘Lamhe’ (1991) were quite devastating for Yash (Chopra) ji and for all of us because it impacted business of the film. I remember Khalid compared ‘Lamhe’ with Gulzar saab’s ‘Mausam’ (1975). But almost after 25 years, Khalid sent me a message saying that ‘I was wrong and it’s a very good film’. So sometimes it’s your state of mind. And at that time, you may not like the film but when you watch it again you might like it.”

“Lamhe” was a dud at the box-office on release, but over time the film has been widely acclaimed as one of Kapoor’s best performances ever and is counted among the late Yash Chopra’s best directorial efforts.

Kapoor also added that he is surprised that the recently released Hollywood film “Joker” has got a few negative reviews.

“I recently watched ‘Joker’, and although the film has received 99 per cent positive reviews, there are some reviews that are not very positive — which surprised me because I loved the film. So, these things keep happening. Obviously, now the time has passed, so I have become much more thickskinned where reviews are concerned. But earlier when you start your career, you are quite sensible because there are certain films in which you and your team have worked really hard, so when you don’t get favourable response, that can be quite upsetting,” he said.

Anil Kapoor will next be seen in Anees Bazmee’s “Pagalpanti”, Mohit Suri’s “Malang” and Karan Johar’s “Takht”.

Telangana RTC to remain, but 50 pc buses!

Share

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday announced that there is no plan to privatise RTC completely, but indicated that it will run only 50 per cent of its buses, while the remaining would be operated with private participation.

After a four-hour long meeting with the authorities, KCR declared that only 50 per cent of 10,400 buses will be fully owned by the RTC. Another 30 per cent buses will be hired from private owners. The remaining 20 per cent will be operated by private operators.

The TSRTC currently has 10,400 buses. As per the CM’s new proposal, 5,200 will be owned by the RTC, 3,100 hired from the private operators and 2,100 will be operated by the private players.

The chief minister is firm on sacking 48,000-odd employees who had not returned to duties. He said they were automatically dismissed, as per the law.

“As per the RTC rolls, there are only 1200 employees in the RTC and all the others stand dismissed without any notice,” he said.

He directed the Director General of Police to arrange special police squads at all the bus depots and bus stations to prevent entry of the sacked employees and also to ensure that they did not create any law and order issues.

KCR further declared that there would be no more workers and employees’ unions in the RTC.

“Since those who did not join the duty within the deadline stand dismissed, the unions have lost their existence. So, in future, there will be no unionism in the RTC,” he announced.

KCR blamed it on the trade unions in the RTC for the current situation.

“The unions staged protests during Congress and TDP regimes over the last 40 years and are continuing with the same attitude now. We have to protect the commuters’ interests”, he said.

Varun Tej Revives Shelved Sports Drama

Share

Varun Tej announced last year that he was going to do a film based on a real-life sports drama.

It was said the film would introduce a new director named Kiran. He even went to the USA to undergo training as a boxer.

But for some reason known only to him, he put off the film. In its place, he signed for Harish Shankar’s film “Valmiki.” After the blockbuster “F2” and an average grosser “Valmiki,” he looks like he got the confidence to experiment.

Now, Varun Tej has decided to revive the shelved project. The film on the life of a boxer is going to be launched again.

Since the film marks the debut of his brother-in-law Allu Bobby as an independent producer, he is taking up this film.

The boxing drama will be bankrolled on October 10. It will be made on a limited budget. The concept-based drama will be his next release.

Meanwhile, Varun Tej updated his Twitter with the latest photoshoot pics saying that he’s working. He is ready to begin his new film.

Share

There is something amiss regarding Allu Arjun and Sukumar’s third film that was announced long back.

Supposed to commence its shoot in August, the film’s launch was postponed several times for various reasons.

Last month, Sukumar’s team informed the media that the untitled rustic drama would be launched in the first week of October on the eve of Dasara festival.

But now, the news is that the launch has been postponed once again. The film is not going to be launched on the Dasara festival today.

Sukumar was even spotted at the Allu’s party thrown to the team of “Sye Raa”. That he is very much working on the film with Allu Arjun was proved with the party, where they had displayed a lot of bonhomie.

Sukumar even has finalized two tunes that Devi Sri Prasad composed.

The work is on but the launch has become a worrying issue for all. Unless the movie goes on to the sets, the rumors about this film would continue.

Media went overdrive in writing that Allu Arjun was not satisfied with the script of Sukumar. He reportedly raised his doubts about the second half. But Sukumar’s camp has been scoffing at these rumors. The film will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers.

Rashmika Mandanna has been confirmed as the main heroine. Bunny will be seen in a rural youth’s role.

Set in the backdrop of Chittoor, it deals with the subject of Red sanders smuggling.

Jagan To End Rent-Scam In Govt Buildings!

Share

The YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has discovered yet another major scam perpetrated during the previous Telugu Desam Party regime led by N Chandrababu Naidu.

This scam is about some key people in the TDP government taking several private buildings on lease on a rent ranging from a few thousands of rupees up to Rs 1 crore and in turn, giving the same on rent to the state government for a huge rent.

The new government has identified as many as 200 such people, including a gentleman who held key position in the government, who looted the government money by collecting huge amounts as rent for such buildings.

Apparently, they sought to take advantage of the lack of permanent buildings for the state government after it moved from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and Guntur permanently, though they could have operated from Hyderabad till 2024.

On March 7, 2016, the then TDP government issued a government order (GO Ms No. 37), abnormally increasing the rent for the private buildings to be taken on lease by the state government departments fixed previously in 2011.

Accordingly, the rent for buildings hired by the government departments in Vijayawada and Guntur was raised from Rs 7 per sq ft to Rs 18 per sq ft; in Visakhapatnam from Rs 7 to Rs 12 and in Tirupati from Rs 7 per sq ft to Rs 10.

In all other corporations and special grade municipalities, the rent was increased from Rs 5.50 to Rs 10 per sft, and selection grade municipalities from Rs 5.50 to Rs 8 per sft, in all Grade-I Municipalities. Rs.4.50 to Rs 8 per sft and in all the other Municipalities and Mandal Headquarters from R 3 to Rs 6 per sft.

The reason cited by the government was that the building owners were not coming forward to lease or to rent their buildings at the old rates and were also pressing to vacate the buildings already occupied by the government departments or to enhance the rent as per the local market valuations of the buildings.

“Thus, the building owners had looted huge money from the government because of this abnormal fixation of rents. Now, all these lease agreements will be cancelled and the government will go in for own buildings to accommodate the government departments,” sources said.
