The Congress Party is staring at a major tickets distribution hurdle before the upcoming Telangana Elections! Though the Party has announced names of 60 candidates who are likely to get B-form from the Congress Party, it is being said that nothing has been finalized yet, and the remaining seats are the reason for a major worry in the Party leadership.

While the Congress Party is aspiring to forge a strategic alliance with the Telugu Desam Party, Communist Party of India, and other smaller players like the Telangana Jana Samithi, tickets distribution to candidates from these partners.

Though Congress is aspiring to play the role of a big brother among the Opposition grouping, other members of the group may not heed to the diktats easily.

According to some Congress Party insiders, the Party is likely to face an exodus once alliances are forged and the names of all candidates are announced by the leadership.

This is one worry that is forcing the Grand Old Party of Indian politics to delay its steps on selection of candidates. How much freedom will the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Uttam Kumar Reddy get in selecting candidates is another major question being asked not just by the political opponents, but also by the cadre within the Congress Party.

In a party meeting that was held in Hyderabad this afternoon, Pawan announced Pithani Balakrishna as Janasena’s first candidate for the assembly polls in 2019. Balakrishna has been given Janasena’s ticket from the Mummidivaram constituency in East Godavari.

For the last few months, Pawan has been interacting with a lot of intellectuals, retired bureaucrats, women’s activists and the party’s local leaders from each constituency to zero in on the right candidates. There has been a lot competition for Janasena tickets and many hopeful leaders are not thinking twice to ‘contribute’ huge amounts of money as ‘party fund’ to procure tickets.

People of both the Telugu speaking states are in a shock, seeing the horrific visuals of the Kondagattu bus accident. At least 45 people, including 20 women and 7 children, have lost their lives and many injured out of the 80 passengers after the TSRTC bus they were traveling fell into a deep gorge near the Kondagattu ghat road this afternoon.

According to the media reports, the bus is quite old and had no proper fitness certificate. Furthermore, the driver, who caused the accident after losing control when the bus hit a speed breaker, has been hired by the RTC authorities, as today is Tuesday and there will be a huge of rush at the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple.

The reports further reveal that the bus was traveling in a wrong route as the area has been abandoned due to serial accidents which took many lives in the past. However, since the driver is new to the Kondagattu area, he reportedly took the fateful route and even he ended up fracturing both his legs in the mishap.

In a fast move towards the formation of Mahakutami against KCR, Telangana TDP Leader L Ramana and Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) Chief Kodandaram held first round talks at a secret place on Monday night.

The two leaders held one to one meeting for more than one hour and discussed the modalities to create Mahakutami involving opposition parties mainly Congress, left and TJS. In the meeting, the leaders also deliberated the political strategy needs to be adopted to defeat the TRS. However, no major decision like seat sharing and common election manifesto is taken in the meeting. A big meeting with all political partners is likely to be held in one or two days.

In a clear indication that TJS will join the grand alliance, Kodandaram visited police station and expressed his solidarity with Ramana and other TDP leaders who were arrested while staging dharna called by Congress against fuel prices in the country.

Ahead of assembly elections, Telangana Congress received a big jolt. Senior Congress leader from Medak district T Jagga Reddy was arrested on late Monday night. He was taken into police custody at Patanchervu when he moving to his Sangareddy Assembly constituency.

Preliminary reports says the leader was arrested for going America tour by producing passports got by fake documents along with the family members. Police are questioning the leader in a police station in Hyderabad.

Jagga Reddy was TRS leader before joining the Congress. He was one of the strong leaders in TRS in 2004 elections. He joined Congress and emerged strong leader in the district.
