Lover Movie Review
Director Aneesh Krishna won good name with his debut movie ‘Ala Ela’, a simple but effectively told romantic drama. When he teamed up with Raj Tarun for Dil Raju’s banner, movie lovers started having hopes on this combination.
Though the trailer didn’t seem promising, the makers claimed that it would appeal to all. So, does it?
Story:
Raj (Raj Tarun), a bike designer who modifies bikes, lives in Ananthapur with his brother (Rajeev Kanakala). He falls in love with a Malayalee nurse Charita (Riddhi Kumar) who works in a government hospital.
Charita finds that something fishy is happening at her hospital with blood and organ donor lists, this lands her in trouble.
How Raj rescues her and wins his love forms the story.
Artistes’ Performances:
Raj Tarun as a bike designer and a lover has played in his regular style. But he has tried to look different. There is nothing new in his acting here except mouthing dialogues in Rayalaseema accent occasionally. Riddhima Kumar as Malayali girl is beautiful and has done neat job.
Sachin Khedkar appears for brief moments, Ajay has outdated characterization and Rajeev Kanakala plays brother role in his typical manner.
Technical Excellence:
The film has good cinematography with cinematographer Sameer Reddy showing his form. He has shot locations of Ananthapur, Gandikota (Kadapa district) and Alleppy beautifully.
The film has music by different composers as each song is composed by a different music director and the songs are catchy. A music bit that keeps coming throughout is good.
Editing is okay. Artwork is decent. Production values are neat.
Highlights:
Cinematography and visuals
Couple of songs
Drawback:
Routine narration
Boring screenplay
Formulaic conflict
Analysis:
A hero living with his brother as his parents die in his childhood and treating his brother as father figure is such an outdated line. A hero falling for beauty and the beauty falling in trouble when she notices some illegal activity happening at her work place is even more formulaic line. Aneesh Krishna’s Raj Tarun starrer “Lover” is all about these two points.
First half of the movie drives on hero charmed by the Malayalee nurse and he trying all ways to impress her with ideas from his friends. Two good songs and many formulaic scenes later, the film comes to the interval point that heroine is going to land in trouble. The first half runs on predictable way and tests patience.
Post-interval, the film reveals the problem that heroine is facing and why ‘villain’ is after this heroine and other things. The reason why villain is after a small girl that heroine has kept in hiding lacks novelty. Thus both the first half and the second half doesn’t excite in any way though songs like “Chilipik Kala” and “Adbutham” make proceedings better to some point.
The hero’s occupation – bike designer – is effectively linked to the climax portions. But the conflict between hero and villain is not handled well.
The film lacks exciting moments. Riddhi Kumar’s innocent face, good songs and cinematography are worth talking about in this regular love story with formulaic scenes. To come out from his thick Godavari-accent, Raj Tarun has used Seema slang. He is looking good compared to his recent movies but this old plot doesn’t help him.
Overall, Raj Tarun’s “Lover” falls in the category of ‘been there, done that’. Except songs, the proceedings don’t connect with youth audiences. It’s a damp squib.
Bottom-line: Endha Chato!
Modi’s No-Confidence Motion Speech: Ignores TDP, Targets Congress

After a dramatic day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his speech over the no-confidence motion introduced by the TDP in the Parliament. But Modi ignored the TDP and targeted the Congress in his counter attack. Amid loud protests by the TDP MPs, Modi started his speech, terming the no-confidence motion a “strength to the democracy”.
Modi requested all the house members to reject the no-confidence motion and stand by a government that was put in place after getting a full majority.
Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi’ Jaadu Ki Jhappi and the amusing wink that followed, Modi said that he was surprised at Rahul Gandhi’s excitement to come and hug him. “What is the hurry? You should trust the people in a democracy,” Modi said, mocking Rahul Gandhi’s ambition to become the PM in 2019.
“Some people said that I can’t stand for at least 15 minutes. But here I am, standing and proud of my work. Remember, nobody can decide who should sir or stand, it’s the country that decides,” said Modi.

Did RaGa Wink Better Than Priya Prakash Varrier?
Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday created quite a political storm after he hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha at the end of his speech during the no-confidence motion debate.Shortly after that, Gandhi was seen sitting on his seat and giving a quick wink.
The image of Rahul winking has reminded the netizens of another person who had taken the internet by storm just a few months ago: actress Priya Prakash Varrier. Varrier had quickly become the Internet’s heartthrob after a clip of her winking in a song from her debut film Oru Adaar Love went viral on social media, earning her accolades.
On Friday, as the Parliament witnessed unprecedented drama during the no-trust vote debate, thanks to Gandhi’s gestures of a ‘jhappi’ and a ‘wink’, Twitteratis could not help but compare the two epic winks of our times.
‘You May Call Me Pappu, I Don’t Hate You’
Congress chief Rahul Gandhi launched his sharpest ever attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the floor of the parliament on multiple issues including the Rafale deal, saying he is not a “chowkidaar (guard)” but a “bhagidaar” (participant) and “he cannot look me in the eye”.
His scathing speech was punctuated by screaming protests from the BJP members and the Speaker had to adjourn the house for several minutes. As the debate started on the no-confidence motion in the government, the numbers in parliament dropped rapidly, bringing the government’s goal of getting two-third votes within striking distance.Naveen Patnaik’s BJD walked out, and in a last-minute twist, ally Shiv Sena stayed away.
“You may have hatred for me in your heart, you may think I am ‘Pappu’ for you” says Rahul amid huge cheer. He says he will convert the BJP men to Congress members. After finishing this, he goes and hugs PM Narendra Modi in an unprecedented gesture. The PM shakes hand with Rahul. The whole House breaks into laughter when Rahul Gandhi says a lot of the BJP MPs came and told him during the brief adjournment that he spoke very well.
“You may think that I have anger for the PM. I am speaking from the heart. The PM, BJP, and RSS have taught me the meaning of the Congress, being Indian, Lord Shiva, and being a Hindu.”
TDP MP Jayadev names Mahesh Babu’s film in LS
TDP MP Galla Jayadev, who initiated the debate on the no trust motion in the Lok Sabha on Friday, mentioned Telugu blockbuster “Bharat Ane Nenu” of his brother-in-law and popular actor Mahesh Babu. The industrialist-politician kicked off the debate with the mention of the movie to stress the point before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government that “promises should be kept”.
“The latest Telugu blockbuster ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ which means ‘I Bharat’ is a story about an young NRI who returns to India after his father, who is a Chief Minister, dies suddenly. “Bharat enters politics reluctantly and becomes a young, dynamic and beloved Chief Minister,” said the Guntur MP.
“The recurring theme in this movie is about trust and his mother’s advice Bharat keeps recalling. A promise is a promise. If a man makes a promise and does not keep it, he does not have the right to call himself a man. “It was a blockbuster because the general mood of people reflects well in this film. People are tired of empty assurances and unfulfilled commitments,” he said.
Jayadev, whose family owns Amara Raja Group, is the son-in-law of veteran Telugu actor Krishna, father of Mahesh Babu. One of the wealthiest MPs, Jayadev had declared assets of Rs 683 crore during 2014 elections.
His mention of Mahesh Babu’s movie triggered varied reaction on social media. Some remarked that he is trying to promote his brother-in-law’s movie while others commented that this goes on to show how politics and films are deeply intertwined, especially in Andhra Pradesh.
Pawan Avoids Talking About No-Confidence Motion
Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan continues his political game. In his fresh tweets, ‘very smart’ Pawan Kalyan appeared to attack BJP and TDP for delaying the Special Category Status to AP, but he blames TDP completely for not getting the SCS to the state. Further, Pawan urged the BJP to accord the Special Status to AP and asked them not to deny the Status to the state for the sole reason of its anger against TDP.
Pawan pleads BJP but Targets TDP
Conveniently forgotten to utter a word about the ‘No-Confidence Motion’ that is taken for the debate, Pawan Kalyan on Twitter literally pleaded BJP to grant the Special Category Status.”Please deliver justice,” Pawan appeals to BJP. Whereas, Pawan targets TDP saying that it is involved in “theatrics” and is wasting time, money of people and causing great agony to the Telugu people. Throughout his choice of words, Pawan carefully and systematically targets TDP in unilateral way and arbitrary manner.
PK Had Demanded For No-Confidence. But When It Came Up, He Goes Silent
Earlier Pawan had demanded TDP & YCP to move the No-Confidence Motion and even promised that he personally would gather support from the MPs of other states for the No-Confidence Motion. But after TDP moved the No-Confidence Motion twice in the Parliament and the No-Trust Motion is even came for the discussion in the House today, Pawan’s deliberate silence about the No-Confidence Motion yet again exposes his whims and fancies.
