The film industry is a platform for all and at least one new talent get introduced to the industry every week. It has been just a few days since the year 2018 got started and four newcomers made their presence felt here in Film Nagar in February alone.

First, we have to talk about the writer turned director Vikram Sirikonda who marked his directorial debut with Touch Chesi Chudu. This mass action entertainer with Mass Maharaj in the lead failed to impress the audience and recorded mediocre collections. Later the debutant who came to test his luck is Venky Kudumula with Chalo. Starring Naga Shourya and Rashmika, the movie succeeded in generating comedy based on the disputes between two states and made the audience laugh wholeheartedly. It’s a box office hit.

Next, we have actor turned director, Venky Atluri, who made his entry with a beautiful love story Tholi Prema starring Varun Tej and Rashi Khanna. The film carried good emotions throughout the film and made a positive impact on the hearts of viewers. It’s making stunning collections at box office still. Other newcomer is Prashanth Varma whose ‘Awe’ movie blended the lives and stories of different people (person with different personalities) and engaged the viewers with his directorial notch.

Talking in terms of collections, Touch Chesi Chudu is the only film which earned fewer collections and left the theatres with average tag. Rest of the three films have been doing exceptionally well at the box office and are making fortunes to the buyers. In this race, we have witnessed four new talents out of which three succeeded in leaving a mark. This can be considered as a good sign and we can expect some more good stories and movies in the future as well.

Director Harish Shankar is yet to take his new film onto floors, but he has already announced his another project, and it is a biggie.

Harish is currently busy with the pre-production work of ‘Daagudu Moothalu’. To be bankrolled by Dil Raju, this multistarrer will most probably feature Nithin and Sharwanand in lead roles. After this film, he will do a commercial entertainer titled, ‘Seeti Maar’. An official announcement in this regard has just come out. Harish however didn’t reveal who the film’s hero will be.

We have learnt from reliable sources that Harish will team up with his ‘DJ’ star Allu Arjun for ‘Seeti Maar’. In fact, this catchy title is borrowed from a chartbuster song of the same name from DJ. We heard that Harish has very recently narrated the script to Bunny and got his nod, which is why he might have made the announcement although the film wouldn’t go on floors until this year end.

Allu Arjun has firm belief in Harish Shankar’s ability in penning and making masala entertainers that cater to all sections of audience. It could be the reason why he agreed to do second film with Harish in such short span despite several talented directors are waiting for his dates.

Krishna, who earlier bankrolled Sai Dharam Tej’s ‘Jawaan’, will produce ‘Seeti Maar’ on his Arunachala Creations banner.

A new schedule of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s latest movie “Sye Raa” is supposed to start from Feb 23/24th. But that will be not taking off now. Director Surender Reddy recently met Megastar Amitabh to convey the same. Wonder why? Here goes an interesting revelation.

Apparently, Megastar Chiru is worried about the post-production work of “Rangasthalam” at the moment. He doesn’t want to put too much pressure on cinematographer Ratnavelu who has finished the shoot of Charan’s movie and working on Digital Intermediate process of the film. While Ratnavelu is interested to kick start Sye Raa shoot and take care of Rangasthalam colour correction work in the nights, Chiru doesn’t want him to take such pressure.

Chiru is heard conveying to Ratnavelu to finish Rangasthalam work first such that they could focus on Sye Raa completely from March 2nd week. Shocked by Chiru’s caring attitude towards a film, now the cinematographer is working round the clock to finish work on Charan’s film. For that reason, Sye Raa has to wait for two more weeks.

With March 30th fixed as release date, definitely, its Rangasthalam that has to be wrapped first and Chiranjeevi doesn’t want the producer of his son to suffer. That’s why Sye Raa is getting delayed.

With the arrival of GST, Goods and Services Tax, many filmmakers are facing the music from IT sleuths in case if they fail to file tax returns and pay GST amount on time to the government. A leading English daily today published a story about one such top Telugu producer who failed to pay GST on time.

According to the to the report, a top Telugu producer who has duly collected GST from his actors, technicians and other clients has failed to pay the same to the government. After raiding his office recently, GST Commissionerate (Central Tax) detected that he has evaded nearly 7 crores tax. However, the producer is quick to admit about the evasion and paid 2 crores on the spot. He sought another 10 days time to pay the balance dues.

It is written in the news article that the company of the producer spent 60 crores in making three films since July 2017 and all the three went on to become super hits. Though the production house collected GST in this entire period they have failed to pay it to the government for at least 7 months.

Evading GST of more than 5 crores will be treated as an offence and the offender has to pay 100% penalty with 18% interest as well. Seems like the producer is paying the same.

Trivikram has finally recovered from the unexpected disaster of Agnyaathavaasi at the box office and is all set to start the shooting of his upcoming movie with NTR. After the hero of this films, the selection of leading lady also created expectations for this movie. Who is going to be the love interest of Taarak in the movie? has become a hot topic in the industry.

It has been a forever dream of NTR to work with the Wizard of Words and things finally got materialised. Trivikram has been hunting for a beautiful lady to play the lady love of Tarak. Everyone thought that there will be two heroines in this family entertainer. One of them is DJ beauty Pooja Hegde and the other is Bollywood starlet Shraddha Kapoor who is marking her debut here with Saaho.

The audience kept guessing that both Prabhas’s heroine and Bunny’s heroines are going to romance the young tiger on the silver screen. But as per the latest reports, there will only be one heroine in this movie. It is only Pooja Hegde who will be paired up with NTR in this Trivikram’s directorial.

We hear that Shraddha Kapoor missed out this opportunity as she felt that there are other commitments that would be requiring her dates around the same time.

Keeping just films as an only career option and source of income is not at all a good plan. Whether it is a star hero or a leading director, one won’t just stick to films for financial security because the film industry is a tricky field that could turn the table unexpectedly in any direction. That’s the reason many stars do come up with some sort of businesses.

It seems like this popular Tollywood director also realised this and is seeking another way of income. He is none other than Seenu Vaitla who is going through a slump now after an illustrious 15 years of career. He has not recorded any hit movie in the past three to four years. We hear that his wife Rupa Vaitla has recently started a new business much to anyone’s surprise.

Rupa has come up with “Vedik”, a brand that sells cow milk. To popularise this cow milk, they are also promoting that it is the only right milk one should drink. We hear that the business is going well and already Vaitla couple are earning lakhs with it per month. While many other businessmen are also entering into this cow milk business, we have to see what heights Vaitlas will reach.

As Seenu is still struggling to score hits, they might have started this as their side business to avoid going penniless, people are heard commenting. Well, it is a good thing that despite being a known director in the industry, he opted a new stream to protect his financial interests. Good move!!
