Joining the bandwagon of star kids testing their luck in film industry is the son of noted film director Vijaya Bhaskar. He had earlier directed super hit films such as Nuvve Kavali, Nuvvu Naku Nachav, Manmadhudu, Malliswari, Jai Chiranjeeva etc.

We have learnt from our sources that Vijaya Bhaskar’s son Kamal will soon be introduced as hero. A debutante, Kali will direct this film. While the pre-production is currently underway, the youngster is busy grooming himself to make an impact with his debut film.

Vijaya Bhaskar had earlier directed the debut film of Sai Kumar’s son, Aadhi – Prema Kavali. His last directorial is Venky and Ram starrer, ‘Masala’, which turned out to be a massive disaster at box office.

After the release of Rajamouli’s “Baahubali”, we have witnessed the trend of ‘Non-Baahubali’ records in our Telugu film industry. Apparently, Bollywood is following the similar format ever since the release of ‘Baahubali 2’.

Its the end of 2017, which saw the release of two Salman Khan-starrers and a SRK-starrer, but the highest grosser in Bollywood is still, Baahubali 2. The Hindi dubbed version of the Telugu epic conveniently holds the titles of highest day 1, weekend, week and lifetime records. Baahubali 2 is the first Hindi (dubbed) film to gross Rs 400 Cr and Rs 500 Cr at domestic box office, and end its theatrical run at around 510 Cr. In comparison, only 4 Hindi films have thus far crossed the Rs 300 Cr gross mark, with the highest being Aamir’s “Dangal” (around 380 Cr).

Some Bollywood trade pundits, who can’t digest the fact that a non-Hindi film is holding all their box office records, have alienated ‘Baahubali 2’ as a ‘dubbed film’ and have started the trend of ‘direct Hindi’ box office records.

It seems that it is not enough a Salman Khan and it needs an Aamir Khan to beat Baahubali 2 Hindi records and thus save Bollywood from the embarrassing trend of ‘Non-Baahubali 2’ BO records. Aamir’s Dangal had broken the highest worldwide gross record of Baahubali 2, all thanks to the film’s unbelievable run in China, and so Hindi film fraternity hopes he can only break Baahubali 2 Hindi domestic records with his next film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’.

Also starring Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif, ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ is a magnum opus being made by the makers of ‘Dhoom 3’. It has the genre, scale, star cast, production team and market to beat Baahubali 2 records. We have to wait until next Diwali to find out whether Aamir can pull off the seemingly impossible.

Coming to Telugu, we can forget about breaking Baahubali 2 records until and unless Rajamouli takes up another massive project.

Audience, who feel Natural Star Nani is getting monotonous in his choice of films, is all set to surprise everyone with his new film where he essays two vastly different characters.

We have reliable information that Nani essays dual roles in his new film, “Krishnarjuna Yuddham” and that while one character is Local, the other stays offshore. The difference lies not just in their backgrounds but characterizations too.

We have seen one character having grey shades in our recent Telugu films like Gautam Nanda and Jai Lava Kusa when heroes played multiple roles. In Krishnarjua Yuddham however both the characters are positive ones. How the director pits two positive leads, both essayed by Nani, against each other is the crux of the story. Its like Nani from Nenu Local vs Nani from Ninnu Kori. Being a talent powerhouse, the ‘MCA’ star will presumably stun audiences with his diversity in both roles.

Directed by Merlapaka Gandhi of ‘Venkatadri Express’ and ‘Express Raja’ fame, the film has two heroines. The film will be Nani’s first release in 2018.

Though Tollywood follows the trend of releasing trailers on the eve of the audio function itself, somehow Pawan Kalyan’s 25th film has stayed away from it. They haven’t released the trailer of “Agnyaathavaasi” at the recently concluded audio event of the film.

Director Trivikram is said to have planned the release of the trailer for Christmas as that will bring more hype to the film as the released date is approaching. However, today (Dec 25th), fans started waiting eagerly for the movie’s trailer and there is no update about it.

Most of Pawan Kalyan’s fans are busy checking social media pages of Haarika And Haasini Creations, but they haven’t got any update. Sources working in the film have revealed that actually the trailer will be released in the first week of January but not in 2017 anymore. That’s sad news for movie lovers who are waiting for the film’s trailer.

For now, the trailer launch (say social media release) is postponed and the date of release is yet to be announced. Featuring Keerthi Suresh and Anu Emmanuel, this Pawan-Trivikram combo film garnered huge attention already, thanks to many factors, while Anirudh’s rejuvenating music is also one of them.

Senior hero Venkatesh, who has become very choosy these days, is setting up an interesting line up of films. The latest one to join in his kitty is the multistarrer with a young hero from Mega family.

We have already reported that hat-trick director Anil Ravipudi’s next film, titled F2 (fun & frustration), will star Venkatesh and another young hero in lead roles. The names of Sai Dharam Tej and Rana Daggubati have surfaced earlier, but its Varun Tej who came on board in the end. Our sources have confirmed that Ravipudi got the nod of both Venky and Varun Tej for his next film. This is the first multistarrer featuring heroes from Mega and Daggubati families.

Dil Raju will bankroll this multistarrer. He had earlier produced Venky and Mahesh’s multistarrer, SVSC. The film will go on floors in the first half of 2018. It is going to be high on entertainment just like Ravipudi’s first three films.

After Anushka’s “Bhaagamathie”, another big film has opted put of the Sankranthi race, thus easing the competition for Pawan Kalyan’s “Agnyaathavaasi”.

Since the Sankranthi season in the past two years has proved that even 3-4 films can find their audience and become hits at box office, a spate of Telugu films considered the lucrative season this year despite knowing that Pawan Kalyan-Trivikram’s “Agnyaathavaasi” is scheduled. While Balakrishna’s “Jai Simha” and Suriya’s “Gang” have confirmed their berths, the other films in race have opted out.

UV Creations had earlier thought of releasing Bhaagamathie for Sankranthi but they changed their minds and rescheduled the film for January 26. Latest reports suggest that Ravi Teja’s “Touch Chesi Chudu” has also opted out of Sankranthi clash. Since makers have significant amount of work that is yet to be finished, they have decided to bow out. Buzz is that the action entertainer can target January 26, since it also happens to be Ravi Teja’s birthday.

Meanwhile, Raj Tarun’s “Rangula Ratnam” might join the Sankranthi race, and take the slot vacated by Touch Chesi Chudu. Since a Raj Tarun-starrer is not as big a film as a Ravi Teja-starrer, makers of Agnyaathavaasi wouldn’t mind much. Furthermore, the Pawan-starrer wouldn’t have to lose as many theatres for ‘Rangula Ratnam’ as for ‘Touch Chesi Chudu’.

Actually, buyers of Pawan’s films don’t bother much about competition, the only thing they pray for is, decent content. For Agnyaathavaasi, which is just a family entertainer, however, the competition factor is also being taken into account since exorbitant amounts have been splurged for the theatrical rights. Having said that, they need theatres for at least a week to recover major part of their investment. Two big films – Jai Simha and Gang are already in contention so buyers hope no more biggies join the race, so as not to lose theatres.

Natural Star Nani’s “MCA” is going from strength to strength each passing day at the worldwide box office. The film’s first 4 days collections have already gone past Nani’s previous highest first week share, which is a remarkable feat.

After having a solid Saturday, MCA showed exceptional growth on Sunday, around 35-40 percent growth in every territory, which is a tremendous achievement for a medium budget film by any measure. The Nani-starrer collected a distributor share of 3.75 Cr on Sunday (Day 4), which is significantly higher than its Day 2 (3.32 Cr) and Day 3 (3.13 Cr) collections in the Telugu states.

The 4 days cumulative share from the Telugu states accrues to a fantastic 17.90 Cr. At the worldwide box office, MCA grossed over 35 Cr, with a distributor share of approx 23 Cr in its first weekend run (4 days). MCA is the 5th 20 Cr share movie for Nani after Eega, BBM, Nenu Local and Ninnu Kori.

Director Puri Jagan has seriously surprised film lovers by announcing that he is coming up with a short film and the first look poster of ‘Hug’ that features a foreign girl nude from the back raised eyebrows.

At a time when he’s busy with the shooting of his son’s movie “Mehbooba”, one wonders where did Puri Jagan make this short film. Details are coming out that this “Hug” is not made now but a couple of months back itself. While shooting for ‘Paisa Vasool’ in Portugal with Balayya and Shriya, the ace director got this idea of a short film. As the concept requires a girl to go nude, he did that with a Portugal model there itself, which would have been little tough in India.

Though the short film’s length is just four minutes, music scored by Sandeep Chowtha is said to have taken time along with other post-production works. And now, Jagan wants to release this ‘Hug’ on December 31st and later send it to Film Festivals for awards consideration.

In the wake of Paisa Vasool’s colossal failure, we wonder if Puri Jagan concentrated more on this ‘Hug’ than that Balayya starrer. Why ride two boats at same time director Saab?

Akhil Akkineni’s second film, which is considered as perfect relaunch (or launch) by his father Nagarjuna, got rave reviews. Many film lovers are wondered by the magical narrative of “Hello” on the first day. But the mood at the box office suggests that mass audiences are not showering that much love.

If we have to tell in this film’s style, there are a lot of “I Hate You” messages being poured for the film, but audiences are saying only “I Love You” when it comes to collections. Actually in “Hello”, the phrase ‘I Love You’ means someone loving to a height of Mt Everest, but ‘I Hate You’ means loving to the level of the sky.

Cut to the topic, Hello ended up collection 10+ crores share across the globe in the first three days of run at box office. Comparatively, for the kind of positive reviews the movie fetched, this is very less we have to say. Whether Nagarjuna should publicize more or should increase the number of theatres is something to work upon, in order to get more ‘I Hate You’ for collections also.

Directed by Vikram K Kumar of Manam and Ishq fame, Hello got quite a good applause for its narrative. Lead pair Akhil Akkineni and Kalyani Priyadarshan are also getting praised for their acting potential.
