Whereas a bold and gutsy film, ‘Arjun Reddy’ is being called the best Telugu film of 2017, Tamil film fraternity has also unofficially crowned the Best film trophy upon a gutsy heroine-centric film, ‘Aruvi’.

Having released this Friday, ‘Aruvi’ has received immense critical acclaim. The reviews from top critics are as good as the word of mouth from cine goers. The film is being called by many as the best Tamil film of this year.

The film is a revenge drama, the story of a woman who is wronged by the male-dominated society. It has created a sensation even before its theatrical release, through its audacious promos and by winning numerous awards at the film festivals where it was screened.

Interestingly, the film is directed by a debutante, Arun Prabhu Purushotham, and has a debutante, Aditi Balan playing the lead character. While the director is being lauded for having made a path breaking film, Aditi is winning accolades for giving an unflinching performance in an extremely challenging role. The novel screenplay and the raw portrayal of the societal abuse have what made Aruvi a film that will be remembered for a long time.

Nayantara’s “Aramm” was called the best Tamil film of this year before the release of “Aruvi”. Incidentally, both films have heroines taking the centre stage.

The background song and music in Agnyathavasi teaser has got a huge thumbs up from all quarters. Going into details, the song was penned by a scholar, poet, pioneer of Carnatic music. Oothukkada Venkata kavi aka Oothukkadu Venkatasubba Iyer who is master of science, music and eloquent in Sanskrit, Tamil. The lyrics he had written some 270 years ago (approximately) have been now used for Pawan Kalyan’s Agnyathavasi.

Lived between 1700-1765 AD, Venkata Kavi was an aficionado of Lord Krishna and has penned several songs and composed that left an indelible mark on generations.

He used talas and themes that not many other Carnatic composers have preferred to handle. His compositions are a blend of a high degree of scholarship on a variety of subjects and inspired expression.

Renowned for his rare depth, scholarship and sublime appeal, he was proficient in a variety of musical forms such as the kriti, tillana and kavadichindu. Looks like, Trivikram Srinivas has yet again shown his profound love for language, culture, tradition by using his lyrics for his film. It is indeed, Trivikram’s fitting tribute to Venkata Kavi.

Whenever I find a kickass script!!

With dusky Chennai siren Trisha Krishnan completing 15 years in films, other day she has held a Q&A session on Twitter to enthral her fans. At that time, one of the fans asked her about a comeback to Tollywood.

Frankly speaking, two disasters including Dammu (2012) and Lion (2015) marked the end of Trisha in Tollywood. Since then she tested her luck here with dubbed films like Nayaki, Cheekati Rajyam and Dharma Yogi, but never she scored a mark. And now, when she says that a kickass script is needed, many wonder what is that.

Throughout her career, Trisha has done commercial films where her roles have a lot of masalas and ample glamour quotient pinned to them. And now, if she wants kickass films like a female-centric script, one wonders if she could really pull the audiences. That’s the reason any kickass scripts will not go to her.

On the other hand, she has half dozen Tamil films including Mohini, Garjranai, Saturanga Vettai 2, 1818, 96 and debut Mallu movie Hey Jude that are likely to hit Telugu cinemas as well with dubbed versions. Hope the 34-year-old hottie will get some respite then.

These days call for Megastar Chiranjeevi to take late Dasari Narayana Rao’s oppositions are just doubling. Promotions of “Hello” movie have kick-started and just before taking his flight to the USA, Akhil Akkineni took part in an interview along with his producer, his dad Nagarjuna. Guess what, this interview sounded somewhat surprising.

Sample this: The anchor asked about dialogues in the film and Nagarjuna throws a blank face about the name of dialogue writer. Then Akhil takes over and says Kittu is the one. But the stumper came from Nag, as he shots back that there is some other lady who’s involved with the job. Then Akhil says, it is only Kittu but not anyone else.

On a whole, it is understood that Kittu and her lady assistant, and writer-actor Harshavardhan (Amrutham actor, Manam writer) have done the job. But according to Nagarjuna, the original dialogue was written by Vikram Kumar himself in English and these people only adopted it to Telugu version.

But with the producer himself not knowing who exactly is the dialogue writer of the film, will the true dialogue writer ever get needed recognition? Also, such confused faces during promotional events will mislead audiences about the movie.

By the time we’re talking about this particular thing, already “Agnathavasi” teaser amassed 3+ million views and 3+ lakh likes. That’s the power of Powerstar Pawan Kalyan and the way director Trivikram carved a perfectly set film for him.

Apparently, the most liked thing about the trailer is nothing but the intro shot of Pawan Kalyan. Whether it is the same inside the film is not known, but here, as Pawan turns, an aeroplane flies in the sky and then as he steps over the fence a bike gets cleared off the way hitting the goon out of the frame. Dynamically shot from a low angle, this intro is giving goosebumps to many movie lovers.

Actually, the plane in the backdrop and the bike being shovelled apart are work of good visual graphics artists but not real. However, the Pawan fitted in that scene is what creates an impact in the end and Trivikram found the right mass pulse there.

We hear that many such action scenes are actually ideas of Pawan Kalyan only though there is a fight master.

“If you make nuisance like this there will be no shootings and functions happening in Warangal. You have to be silent to appease and attract everyone” warned Dil Raju, addressing the humongous crowds at Warangal other day who have turned up for MCA pre-release event.

Comedian-turned-hero Sapthagiri has claimed that he’s always a Mega fan and he will remain to be the same. The young actor, along with the unit of his latest film Sapthagiri LLB, touring Andhra Pradesh state as part of success tour. The movie team, on Saturday, visited Sapthagiri’s native place Chittoor and surprised audiences at MSR theatre in town.

During the visit, Sapthagiri spoke to media persons and answered to their queries. When he was asked about Pawan Kalyan, who visited the audio launch of Sapthagiri’s first film as hero, he said- ‘Pawan Kalyan will always be in my heart and I’m very grateful to him. He encouraged a guy (referring to himself) from Chittoor to become a hero and gave his blessings by attending my audio launch.’ After hearing what Sapthagiri told about Agnathavaasi star, the public around him cheered him in full swing.

When a media journalist further asked Sapthagiri whether he would join Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena, the actor replied – ‘I do not have any knowledge on politics, but I am prepared to stand with Pawan Kalyan. Also, if he calls me, I am more than ready to join him in politics.’

Thikka, Winner, Nakshatram and Jawaan- that is four flops in a row, but still the craze for Mega Menalludu Sai Dharam Tej is not going back. Sometime back he’s rated as that 20 crore club hero, but in the recent times, he broke that trust.

No matter whether SAi Dharam’s films will amass the invested money or not, it seems like producers are interested to bankroll projects with him. Including VV Vinayak’s Intelligent (Or Dharma Bhai) and Karunakaran’s untitled flick, he has two films on the floors right now.

Why would a series of flops don’t deter producers from investing in this hero, while other heroes lose their market with just one flop?

“Actually the mega background made him a 20 crores star and producers now expect that if story clicks then he will automatically collect 20+ crores from the box office. Furthermore, that mega craze fetches him huge theatres, a big release and mega functions as well. Keeping these things in view, producers can’t ignore him just like that”, a trade source said.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Friday denied permission for Bollywood actor Sunny Leone to perform at a New Year’s Eve show in Bengaluru.The event billed as the ‘Sunny Night in Bengaluru NYE 2018’ is organised by event management outfit Times Creations Company.It’s scheduled to be held at White Orchid, adjacent to Manyata Tech Park here.

“We have denied permission fearing law and order problems in the wake of protests by pro-Kannada outfits and also keeping in view the directions of the Karnataka high court in a molestation case reported on MG Road last New Year’s Eve,’’ home minister R Ramalinga Reddy told media.He added that they decided not to grant permission considering that her fans in Kochi went berserk during her visit there in August.“We took feedback from Kochi police before taking the decision,’’ Reddy added.

The organisers said: “We haven’t received any official communication from the police. We’ll wait for it before calling off the event. We don’t know why there is so much fuss about Leone performing here. She is not here to perform a nanga (nude) dance but for a family show.”

Some pro-Kannada groups, including Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, were up in arms against the show claiming her performance here will be an assault on Kannada culture and tradition of Karnataka and will corrupt young minds.“We all know her background. She’ll perform wearing skimpy clothes and make inappropriate gestures. We don’t want her to come spoil our youth,” the protesters had said.

Members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike protested on Friday at Manyata Tech Park by burning posters of the actor. They even threatened to commit suicide if her programme is eventually held.
