India’s dreams of winning an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category will not fulfill even this year as “Newton”, India’s official entry at the Oscars 2018, is out of the race.

Of the 92 films that had been in competition to win the Best foreign language film Oscar, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences shortlisted 9 films that will advance to the next round of voting. And, “Newton” couldn’t make it to the shortlist.

A Fantastic Woman (Chile), In the Fade (Germany), On Body and Soula (Hungary), Foxtrot (Israel), The Insult (Lebanon), Loveless (Russia), Felicite (Senegal), The Wound (South Africa) and The Square (Sweden) are the 9 films that made it to the shortlist. The Oscars ceremony will be held on March 4 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Mother India, Salaam Bombay! and Lagaan are the only Indian films that have so far made it to the final 5 in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Academy Awards. However, none have won the award.

Several critically acclaimed and commercially successful Telugu films released this year. As we are in the last month of this year, people are coming up with the list of their favorite films. Ever wondered what could be the favorite film of the director who delivered no just this year’s but All Time blockbuster film, ‘Baahubali 2’, in April this year.

In a recent interview, when ace director SS Rajamouli was asked, he replied that ‘Arjun Reddy’ is his favorite film of 2017. He said that the film was pure and intense.

One may recall that Rajamouli had praised the film after watching it soon after its release. “Just saw Arjun Reddy. Though love stories are not my cup of tea, can’t but appreciate the film. Top notch performance by Vijay Deverakonda. He just lived it. Not just him, Shalini, the friends, everyone were so good and natural. Very good background score and fine photography,” he had tweeted then.

Arjun Reddy, inarguably the boldest film of 2017, is the favorite film of not just Rajamouli but many. The film has been praised as a groundbreaking effort, it became a huge box office success too. Rajamouli picking it as his favorite film over the likes of Ghazi, Fidaa and some other remarkable films is a huge achievement on the film’s part.

Apparently, one hit is enough to propel a hero’s career to a new height and such thing happened to Vijay Devarakonda through “Arjun Reddy” movie. The phenomenal success of this film actually made a happening star out of him.

Since then there is buzz that Vijay will be making his debut in Bollywood as well. For the kind of good looks, he has, debuting in Hindi arena is not a big deal and the young hero also seems to be well versed with speaking Hindi, which is another advantage. So what happened to his plans?

Reports are coming that actually Vijay was in talks with Yash Raj Film for quite some time and the Bollywood production giant offered him a three-film deal. But with Vijay interested to do only one film with them and not a three-film deal, he has opted out of it. Though the likes of Ranvir Singh, Anushka Sharma and Parineeti Chopra emerged stars out of such deals, somehow Vijay didn’t find it interesting.

Cut to Tollywood, Vijay is almost wrapping Parasuram’s Geetha Govindam and Rahul Sankrithyan’s Taxiwala, while he will be part of Nandini Reddy and Kranthi Madhav’s films respectively.

Balakrishna’s 102nd film – Jai Simha – continues to hog the limelight. Since the film marks Balayya’s collaboration with veteran director KS Ravi Kumar, it is garnering good buzz. The latest is that the film’s final schedule has been shot in Dubai where two songs were shot on Balayya and his female leads.

One of the two songs were shot on Balakrishna, Nayantara where 20 European dancers have been recruited and shot lavishly in Dubai. Meanwhile, the second song featuring Balayya, Natasha Doshi saw as many as 30 other European dancers in the backdrop, total tally coming at 50 dancers.

Touted to be a commercial entertainer, the film’s audio launch will be held in December whereas the film is all set for release on Jan 12, 2018 for Sankranthi.

“30 European dancers were a part of one song shot on Balayya, Natasha Doshi choreographed by Johnny Master while 20 European dancers joined Balakrishna, Nayanatara for one more song under Brinda’s choreography shot lavishly in Dubai. Thus the entire shooting part is finished and post production works are also progressing simultaneously at a brisk pace,” said producer C Kalyan.

The film’s cast includes Nayantara, Natasha Doshi, Hari Piya, Brahmanandam, Prakash Raj, Murali Mohan, Ashutosh Rana and etc.

Death of comedian and hero Vijay Sai by hanging from the ceiling fan in his two bedroom apartment in Yousufguda lead to a huge shocker in Telugu Film Industry. As per the selfie-video recorded by Vijay, it was found that his wife Vanitha Reddy, her friend Sasidhar and a lawyer named Srinivas have harassed the comedian.

The moment Vijay’s news broke out on TVs, Vanitha Reddy also came before cameras and blamed her husband for having extramarital affairs and other things. However when police asked Vanitha to appear before police station, surprisingly her mother has come to say that her daughter is suffering from fever. Also, it was revealed that she went to Suryapet then, but actually she went missing.

Reports are coming out that police are analysing the call date of Vanitha’s cell phone and tracing her out. Very soon they are likely to catch Srinivas and Sasidhar also, who are also said to be absconding since then. For now, their three months call-date is being analysed by police sleuths.

Recently released Khakee movie of Karthi and Rakul Preet is a stunner of sorts. It deals with the story of a deadly dacoit gang from North India who has shown stars to Tamilnadu police after committing robberies and brutal murders in Tamilnadu state. But the story is true and it happened a decade back. Here is its next iteration now.

Inside the film “Khakee”, when a team of Tamilnadu police goes ahead to grab a dacoit gang in Rajasthan, they were attacked crudely and also one police loses his life. In the same style, a couple of days ago when a jewellery store was robbed in Kolathur, Tamilnadu, police found that two people from Rajasthan including Nathuram and Dinesh Choudari are the culprits. They have drilled a hole into the jewellery shop from the ceiling above and entered the store to steal jewellery.

When a team of five police from Tamilnadu went to Ramavas village in Pali District of Rajasthan to nab them, one of the accused Nathuram grabbed the revolver of Inspector S Periyapandi (48 years) and shot him dead. Right now police arrested Dinesh and now took Nathuram’s wife and girlfriend into custody for a grilling session to know whereabouts of the gang.

Needless to say, the incident is a repetition of what happened in “Khakee” movie and how exactly it happened in the original story that inspired the movie. How come only five police went to nab such cruel criminals and what is Rajasthan Police doing without providing any manpower and logistic support to Tamilnadu police? After an inspector was killed, however, Rajasthan Police issued a shoot-at-sight order!!

In a no-holds-barred web series, Ramu has loaded it with violence, profanity set against Rayalaseema backdrop. Well, it has Ramu’s trademark scenes of gory (Netturu) and profane dialogues (Buthulu), but they look aesthetic in the trailer. The trailer is gripping and raising curiosity. The background music and visuals of Kadapa reminds us of The Attacks of 26/11, Vangaveeti, Raktha Charitra series.

What’s more? RGV has yet again quoted some of the top leaders from the region on violence, fractionism only to give a controversy touch. Claiming it as a first Telugu web series made on international standards, Ramu announced that the film is based on real people, real incidents and it is a ‘true epic story of the real violence of Rayalaseema’. As usual, he begins the trailer with his voice over that sets the tone, mood of the web series.

We have recently witnessed the exemplary theatrical trailer of India’s first Space film, ‘Tik Tik Tik’, a Tamil film starring Jayam Ravi in lead role. If the emerging reports are anything to go by, a new Telugu film could be Tollywood’s first and India’s second Space film.

Bollywood star hero Akshay Kumar, who highlighted a social issue in his last film, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, is back with another film that explores the life of a man who made the lives of women in rural areas better through numerous hardships.

The trailer of Akshay’s upcoming film “Pad Man” is out, and it gives a glimpse of the humorous and inspiring content in store. The film is based on the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented low-cost sanitary pad making machines.

The trailer starts off with narration from Amitabh Bachchan, declaring ‘Pad Man’ as India’s answer to American superheroes like Superman, Spiderman and Batman. It then shows how Akshay, who strives to provide a hygienic life to the women of his family, works hard to make a sanitary pad, and try it out himself. When he offers the pad to his wife and sister, they scorn him off, calling the idea ‘shameful’. His persistent efforts lead to his wife leaving him and villagers shunning him.

Sonam Kapoor, a social worker then comes in as a guiding light to help Akshay materialize his dream, and eventually become an international figure. The inspiring film will have its worldwide release on 26th January, 2018.
