Naidu Keeps Option Open On SCS?
With the issue of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh snowballing into a major embarrassment to the ruling Telugu Desam Party again, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu seems to be changing his strategies again.
Till a few months ago, Naidu used to say that the special category status to AP is a closed chapter and that his government had got a financial package that would compensate all the benefits that could be accrued to the state through SCS.
He even said the Finance Commission had ruled out special category status to any state and even those who already have it would lose the same shortly.
But nothing of that sort had happened and the Centre has extended benefits of SCS to the already existing special states for another 10 years. On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh is yet to get the full financial package announced by the Centre even after one year.
So when the opposition parties under the banner of Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi revived the agitation and took up Chalo Assembly on Monday, Naidu had to go on the defensive. He said his government or the party was not against the Special Category Status, but had to accept the package in the best interest of the state. “There is no use in taking up fights and agitations in Andhra Pradesh. They should do it in Delhi and achieve the status. We will also support it,” he said.
Naidu’s right hand Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy also said the TDP would never oppose any agitation for Special Category Status and was open for it.
“However what is the use of agitating in Vijayawada? The state government or the assembly cannot grant the status. YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said he would ask his party MPs to resign to bring pressure on the Centre for special category status. What has he done?” he asked.
Apparently, the TDP, too, wants to take up the issue strongly before the elections, if it is confirmed that the BJP will cut off the alliance with it.

‘Na Mind Dobbaledu’
After working together for sensational films such as Shiva, Antham, Govinda Govinda, the devil combo of Nagarjuna and Ram Gopal Varma is back after nearly 28 years. The film was launched amidst much anticipation with RGV’s mother Suryavathi sounding the clapboard on Nag.
At the launch Nag mouthed the film’s dialogue, “Nenu Adigina Prasna Ku Samadhanam Cheppina Cheppakapoyina Ninnu Champadam Guarantee. Entha Twaraga Chebithe, Antha Twaraga, Takkuva Noppitho Chasthav. Choose.”
Interacting with media after the film’s inauguration, Nag said, “First of all, I’d like to clarify all of you that I haven’t not lost my mind. I’m fine. (Naku Mind Dobbaledu. Na Mind Bagane Vundi)”
Nagarjuna continued, “After a longtime, I’ve woken up at 4 AM with a lot of excitement. I wish everyday would be like today. During Shiva, I had not bothered about hit or flop. I went by my gut. I’m not bothered about it even today. Because, that’s the kind of trust we have between Ramu and me. An artiste gets maturity at 28 years. When I was 28, Shiva happened to me. And exactly after another 28 years, this film with Ramu is rolling on. I’m doing the film with double maturity. RGV is making the film with utmost sincerity. I’m looking forward to the shoot of a few scenes narrated by Ramu. The shoot begins from today and will lasts for 10 days. After the release of Hello, the film’s second schedule will begin which will be the final schedule. The film’s shoot will end with that.”
Touted to be a cop drama, the film is about a sincere cop who believes in his own philosophy. It is said to be a unique concept.
How Good Balayya Is…
Balayya Babu may have been part of numerous controversies related to slapping people in public, smoking at public events, comments against women etc. but almost all the people who had some sort of direct association with him, sing praises of his humane nature, kindness and down to earth character. Noted anchor Udaya Bhanu says that Balayya is like God for her.
It is known that that Udaya Bhanu is hosting a dance-based TV show, “Neethone Dance’. In the recently aired episode, she got very emotional, and had tears in her eyes while talking about the kindness of Balayya. Narrating the incident that made her come to know about the actor’s true character, Udaya Bhanu said,
“After having faced several problems in my life, I finally found happiness in the form of my twin babies. I wanted to celebrate their first birthday in the presence of my family members, who are none but industry people. When I called, several people bluntly ignored my calls. I messaged Balayya sir saying that it was the most important day in my life, and that I would be very happy if he could attend the event.
Soon after receiving my message, he called me, inquired about the time of the event, and he attended it. Actually, he had a meeting in Ananthapur the very next day, and he would have to do night journey from Hyderabad to Ananthapur if he attended the birthday celebration of my daughters. He still kept his promise made to me. He didn’t just give a blink-and-miss appearance but he spent nearly 45 minutes at my house, and happily obliged for photographs.
When he was walking into the event on that day, I saw a God walking into my house. I can never forget what he has done for me. He is the most genuine and sweet person one can find in the industry.”
USA BO: Garuda Vega, Khakee Perform Well
Last weekend nearly nine movies hit the screens in domestic market but in USA only four films saw the releases.
They are bilingual “Khakee” (“Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru” in Tamil), “London Babulu”, “Prema Entha Madhuram Priyuralu Antha Katinam” and “Prematho Mee Karthik”.
Except “Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru”, no film had collected 10k dollars in entire weekend. Among Telugu latest releases “London Babulu” collected about 8k dollars, rest of them were total washouts.
Karthi’s “Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru” aka “Khakee” got 255k dollars in its opening weekend in USA, which is second best opening for him after “Oopiri”. The film was bought for low amount, so the distributor might see profits.
On the other hand, Rajasekhar starrrer “PSV Garuda Vega has finally breached the half million dollar mark. The movie that won critical acclaim has crossed 500k dollars this Sunday. Its cumulative gross now stands at $500,660.
The distributor who bought the rights for paltry amount is said to have got more than Rs One Cr profit on this movie after all expenses are deducted.
Dad Deeply Uspet On Nandi Issue – Lokesh
In a shocking turn of events, the controversy around Nandi Awards have put TDP government in a spot. Although the final decision has been taken by the Nandi Awards jury and it has nothing to do with the State Government or the Chief Minister who are not aware of winners till the final announcement, the whole issue seems to have become a head-ache for the Naidu-led government.
Breaking the silence, IT & Panchayat Raj Minister Nara Lokesh , belonging to top brass of the government, has responded over the allegations made by a few producers, filmmakers in Telangana over Nandi. Lokesh gave a befitting counter to the detractors who are making a huge fuss over the awards. Lokesh said that those who don’t even have Aadhar card and Voter Id card from AP are making ‘allegations’ against AP government. Lokesh made it clear that these allegations don’t have significance and won’t stand in front of people. Lokesh also said that how can someone comment over AP Special Status when they are not the residents of AP.
However, Lokesh admitted that their leader and his father Chandrababu Naidu is deeply upset over the entire Nandi issue and how it has been handled.
When Amaravathi Swung To Pawan’s Song
Other day Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department has organized the first-ever “Social Media Summit and Awards” in Amaravathi and honored talents across the nation. At this event, star heroine Deepika Padukone, hunk hero Rana Daggubati received Most Popular Indian Actress on Social Media and Most Active South Indian Actor on Social Media titles respectively.
What is stunning is that, upon receiving his Most Popular Indian Musician on Social Media, composer Anirudh took everyone by a storm. Upon someone whispering in his ear, he took the mike and sent the crowds into cheers and whistles by singing a song that he composed for Pawan Kalyan.
Yes, he rendered a couple of lines from “Baitakochi Chooste Time Emo 3’o clock” song and sent crowds into regaling. Definitely, the crowd was seen very much jubilant with this rendering. And everyone at the stage including Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhilapriya felt stunned with the rendering and the receiving.
Meanwhile, the likes of Deepika thanked AP Government and expressed their happiness for the greenery around Amaravathi and promised to visit the new-capital yet again. And she uttered in Telugu, “Nenu Mimmalni Premistunnanu”.
At the same time, Rana also broke the crowds into laughs saying, “I work less but stay most active on social media”, after receiving his title.
Overseas: Half Million For GV
Rajasekhar’s comeback film Garuda Vega have fetched double profit for the film’s distributor in the US. While the film’s break-even was 200K USD, the film has surpassed a collection of 500K USD and still counting. Although half million dollars isn’t a big thing today, it was unexpected for Rajasekhar-Praveen Sattaru’s long delayed film.
Proving the trade analysts wrong, the film did magic at the US BO. It took 3 weeks for Rajasekhar to achieve this feat. Yet it is a substantial achievement for him given that from almost zero market, he managed to enter into half-million dollar club.
This is expected to help Rajasekhar’s future films in the US. Let’s wait and see.
Cameraman Rejected Sye Raa, Signs NTR Biopic
In an interesting turn of events, acclaimed cameraman Ravi Varman, who had earlier opted out of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s prestigious film, ‘Sye Raa’, has signed Balakrishna’s ambitious NTR biopic.
When the cast and crew of Megastar’s ‘Sye Raa’ was officially announced in August, Ravi Varman was on board to crank camera for this historical film. He however opted out later for some undisclosed reasons, and Ratnavelu stepped in.
Our reliable sources have now confirmed that Ravi Varman has signed NTR biopic. Some time ago, reports emerged that he had signed Shankar-Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’. With both Balayya and Kamal’s films set to take off next year, it needs to be seen how he can manage both films.
‘I Didn’t Lose My Mind’: Nagarjuna
Nagarjuna and Ram Gopal Varma have joined forces after 28 years. Interestingly, Nagarjuna was 28 years old when he first teamed up with the director’s first movie Shiva which had become a trend setter then.
“First thing I need to say is I didn’t lose my mind. I didn’t consider anything to do Shiva and I’m doing the same for the new movie as well since we both maintain warmly relationship with each other for ages. I got maturity with Shiva when I was 28 years old and I am doing the new movie after 28 years with double maturity,” said Nagarjuna.
On the other hand, RGV also made curious remarks.
“Many have criticized me saying I lost my mind and there is no juice (stuff) left in me anymore. Yes, I lost my mind. But, you will get clarity on whether there’s any juice left in me after watching the film,” said RGV.

Venkatesh’s Cameo In PSPK25 Not Happening!
The name of Pawan Kalyan itself is a reason enough to draw crowds to theatres, now imagine the impact a Pawan-starrer can create when Trivikram encapsulates it with numerous attractions. Senior hero Venkatesh’s cameo was expected to be one such attraction for PK25, but it is not going to be there.
For the reasons best guarded, Trivikram and Venkatesh have decided to drop the idea of the latter making a special appearance in the former’s film. Our sources have confirmed the happening of this last minute development, which could mildly disappoint movie lovers.
Venky and Pawan have already shared screen space in ‘Gopala Gopala’, and the duo share very warm relation. Venky has good camaraderie with Trivikram too. Hence the star director had earlier wanted to rope in Venky for a special role, a cameo in PK25. The idea however has been dropped now.
The shooting of PK25 is currently happening in Hyderabad, following the recently completed schedule in Europe.
Chiru’s Sweet Warning To Charan-Upasana

As the opening ceremony of Nagarjuna and Ram Gopal Varma’s fourth ever collaboration happened today, it’s a stunner for the onlookers if they have to go to the posters erected at the venue.
With many star heroes in Bollywood and other tinsel towns are picking up roles that are coming of their age, only in Telugu, we’re seeing these 55+ aged star heroes still playing those 30+ guys on silver screen. But it looks like Nagarjuna want to change his game, like the way Jagapathi Babu has done.
Some of the posters indicate that Nagarjuna is, in fact, sporting grey hair and white mustache, giving a view of his real salt and pepper look. Though some of the posters of being absurd as usual with Ram Gopal Varma mark, as those close-ups from little up odd perspectives are not much interesting, still Nag’s white hair is the most talked aspect.
Probably with Nagarjuna playing such a matured character, he’s busy giving feelers that this film will be another game changer for him like Siva. We have to see how fans and cinema lovers receive this new-age cop drama.
