Most Watched TV Show: Rana Beats NTR!
The ninth episode of Rana Daggubati’s No.1 Yaari has outmaneuvered NTR hosted Bigg Boss Telugu last week and went onto clinch the title of Most Watched Television show in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
No.1 Yaari, aired on Gemini TV, has recorded a highest TVR of 10.3 whereas NTR’s Bigg Boss is limited to 6.23. The show that hosted Rana Daggubati and saw Lakshmi Manchu, Taapsee Pannu as guests achieved this feat. This is considered as a great achievement even as NTR’s Bigg Boss was telecast at the same time.
Started with Rajamouli and Shobu Yarlagadda as guests, No.1 Yaari saw a steady rise in its ratings and went onto become the most watched TV show. It managed to make it to the top in just 9 episodes / 9 weeks.
However, on the whole, on an average, NTR’s Bigg Boss reality show is still ruling the roost. Especially, the show is getting abundance ratings in the weekends where NTR is seen.
Will KCR Act Against Dera Baba!
There has been a tense situation in both Punjab and Haryana ever since a special CBI court convicted self-styled Godman, Dera baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment for raping two women. The repercussions of this verdict have now touched the Telangana government too.
On Wednesday, a large number of workers of Left parties and farmer organizations held a protest at the site of the proposed Dera of Gurmeet Baba at Velimedu village, Chityala Mandal in Nalgonda district. They demanded the state government to reclaim the entire land of nearly 50 acres which according to them was assigned to the poor but illegally occupied by Dera Baba over the past one decade. The protesters burned the flexis of Dera Baba and also planted red flags on the land.
Earlier, the Telangana state govt. took back 8 acres of assigned land to the poor, which was allegedly occupied by the supporters of Gurmeet Baba. He had reportedly planned to set up an Ashram, educational institution and old age home at the spot. Locals however were not pleased with the govt. taking back only 8 acres of land as they continued to demand the confiscation of the entire 50 acres that was illegally occupied by Gurmeet Singh.
The Left parties have threatened to launch a massive protest if the state govt. doesn’t act fast and take back the occupied lands.
Prabhas’ Hindi Classes Not Going Well
Baahubali star Prabhas had struggled to speak Hindi during the promotions of Baahubali : The Beginning and Baahubali : The Conclusion. Since then, the actor seems to have decided to learn Hindi.
As he is prepping up for his next pan-India film Saaho, Prabhas said to have decided to learn Hindi and speak Hindi before the release of Saaho.
In fact, Prabhas said to have started taking required Hindi classes. But it is learnt that his plans to learn Hindi is not going smoothly. Due to lack of time and busy working on Saaho, the actor couldn’t accommodate time for Hindi classes.
Prabhas is right now focusing on Saaho where Shraddha Kapoor is paired up with him. The film being helmed by Sujeeth is made with an extensive VFX.
The Story Behind Ramcharan’s New Look
Taking a cue from Bollywood celebs, even Tollywood top stars are hiring stylists for their public appearances. Especially the likes of Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun are looking dapper at public events and also at film events because of this new development.
Joining this bandwagon is none other than Mega hero Ram Charan who is trying to create his own mark. Generally, he prefers to stay in modern looks but switched to traditional attire from the past few months. It is his next movie Rangasthalam 1985 that made the actor change his way of thinking and the secret behind his latest kurta look is out now.
Actually, Ram Charan shot for the first schedule across the banks of Godavari during recent mid-summer and the heat wave has taken a toll on the whole unit. To beat the heat, the actor had to search for cotton kurtas across the region. He could not get branded kurtas after which the actor visited a local fabric store and got them stitched as per his requirement.
Reportedly Charan had a huge relief wearing them during summer after which the actor continued to surprise the audience with his ethnic looking Kurta looks every time even after he’s back to Hyderabad. He’s said to be getting the kurtas stitched at the same store in the Godavari region since then.
Though he prefers to wear jeans and casuals during his public outings is now being spotted in kurtas. There are even talks that Charan is taking leaves from the books of his babai Pawan Kalyan to wear these kurtas as the Janasena leader’s political journey is mostly comprising of those kurtas only. While there is no reason behind Charan wearing kurtas specifically, this is the actual background of it.
Ex-Minister All Set To Join YCP?
Srikakulam district used to be the bastion of the Congress party prior to 2014. However, post the bifurcation of the Telugu states, the party was eradicated right from its roots in the district just like anywhere else in AP. The recently held by-poll in Nandyal once again proved that Congress party had lost it’s identity in the state.
Whereas several Congress leaders of Srikakulam district already joined other parties, Kondu Murali and former Union Minister Killi Krupa Rani are the only notable leaders still remained in Congress. Reports are now emerging that Krupa Rani is very soon going to join YSRC party to keep her political career alive.
According to the buzz in Srikakulam political circles, Krupa Rani has been holding discussions with senior leaders of YCP for quite some time but she hasn’t yet joined the party as the Jagan-headed party failed to promise her a ticket to contest the next Assembly elections. Krupa Rani reportedly asked for the ticket of Tekkali where she holds command. When YCP couldn’t meet the demand, she asked for the ticket of Palasa. With Jagan reportedly giving his verbal approval, Krupa Rani may join the main opposition party in AP very soon.
Despite losing the parliament election in 2004, Krupa Rani won in 2009, defeating four-time TDP MP, Yerran Naidu. She served as a Union minister in former PM Manmohan Singh’s cabinet.
Fidaa Overseas: Big Hit, Less Profits
Telugu films have been doing exceptional business across the circles of USA. Fidaa and Arjun Reddy are clear examples of that and Fidaa surprised everyone after the movie crossed 2 million mark which is huge for a small film.
The movie has been sold out for a massive price of Rs 4 crores in USA. The movie grossed Rs 13 crores in its final run and Rs 30 lakhs across other countries. Half of the grossed amount will be pocketed by theatre owners in overseas.
The total profits of Fidaa are said to be Rs 7 crores out of which the exhibitor’s share is Rs 1.75 crores. Risking for Rs 4 crores, the overseas buyers made a profit of Rs 1.25 crores for Fidaa. A blockbuster like Fidaa which has been exceptional managed to get just Rs 1.25 crores as profit.
We can assume about the profits and losses of the films which end up as average and below average films at the box-office. US distribution is sure a risky business and many such businessmen turned out to be cab drivers after ending up in hefty losses.
Prabhas Role In Saaho Revealed
Young Rebelstar Prabhas gained International fame after the release of Baahubali. This pan Indian actor started shooting for Saaho after a decent break. Sujeeth is the director of this big budget action entertainer and Shraddha Kapoor is the female lead.
Despite of lot of speculations, the makers kept the basic plot of the film under wraps. The latest rumor doing rounds is that Prabhas is all set to thrill the audience as a cop for the first time on screen.
Prabhas will be seen as a high profile police officer in Saaho which will have huge dose of action episodes. The actor lost huge weight for his role and his performance along with his screen presence are said to be the major highlights of Saaho. The film will be shot mostly in Mumbai and Dubai which will have huge dose of action episodes which are composed by Hollywood technicians.
UV Creations is bankrolling this big budget action entertainer which will hit the screens in multiple languages during the second half of 2018.
Mahesh To Follow The Trend
Superstar Mahesh Babu has been completely busy with his next movie Spyder directed by AR Murugadoss. Mahesh is said to have allotted ample time to promote the film all over.
His debut in Tamil has been perfectly planned through a grand event that will take place on September 9th in Chennai. Superstar Rajinikanth and Shankar are said to grace the event as Chief Guests for the grand launch. The Telugu audio launch of Spyder has been planned to take place on September 10th in Hyderabad.
However with the ongoing trend of pre-release events, the makers are in plans of a grand event that will take place in Shilpakala Vedika, Hyderabad on September 16th or 17th. Before that the entire cast and crew will interact with the media to be in news and bring enough hype for the film.
Harris Jayraj is the music composer and Rakul Preet Singh is the female lead. The movie has been aimed for September 27th release in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages.
