kcr

It was none other than Telangana CM KCR gave a clarion call to all Telangana people to join ‘Haritha Haram’ programme actively and plant each one a sapling to ‘bring back rains and send back monkeys’ to the forests. The dwindling forest cover was the result of the simians entering our residences. Once the forest cover is increased, monkeys will go back to their original habitations in the forests.

The increase of green cover in Telangana state will also help more rains in the state in future, KCR said.Every villages is facing monkey menace as the apes strayed into human habitations after the forest area diminished, he felt. The Chief Minister launched Haritha haram in Nalgonda district aiming to plan 46 crore saplings in the two week long drive involving students, employees and all sections of people.

KCR predicted good rains this year which will help to grow the plants speedily. He wanted to increase forest cover to 33 per cent from the present 25 per cent in two years.

Chiru, Its Too Risky!

Share

chiru
The shooting of Chiranjeevi’s 150th has started two weeks ago and director Vinayak has wrapped up the first schedule of the film. Few comedy scenes involving Chiru-Ali and introduction scenes of Chiru in the film were shot in the first schedule. As the search for the film’s leading lady is on and makers are finding it difficult to cast a heroine on par with Chiru, Chiranjeevi announced that the film would be released for Sankranthi.

While Mega fans are happy that Chiru is arriving for Sankranthi, at the same time, they were also a bit worried whether Chiru & the team are actually speeding up the filming so that to release the film Pongal. Especially after the experiences of films like Sardaar Gabbar Singh and Bruce Lee where the movies were forced to complete to meet the release dates that were announced in advance, Mega fans are wanting Chiru to make proper comeback instead of hurried one.

However, it’s buzzed that unlike Sardaar, Bruce Lee (which are originals though not new stories), Chiru’s 150th is a remake of Tamil film. This is said to be a bit advantage as there wouldn’t be much delay due to script issues and already Vinayak, script team worked on it for longtime in the pre-production phase. Having said this, yet for the filming, post-production, publicity need proper time. And the makers are yet to cast heroine opposite Chiru. Is Chiru risking with 150th in hurry to release for Jan?

Will Kannada Following help his son

saikumar
Dialogue King Saikumar is a hugely popular star not just in Tollywood bit also in the Kannada film industry. While Saikumar has been ruling the roost by portraying character roles in Tollywood, he was once a well-known hero in Sandalwood and films like Police Story, Agni IPS, Police Story 2 and Central Jail etc earned him a star status.

While his career continues to go at great guns, Saikumar is unhappy with the war his son Aadi’s career is moving at a snail’s pace in Tollywood. Barring his first two films, none of Aadi’s films were successful at the box-office and even the father-son duo’s home production, Garam, was a colossal failure. While Aadi is waiting for his latest film, Chuttalabbayi’s release, his doting dad Saikumar has a smart plan for Aadi. Latest buzz is that Saikumar is planning to launch Aadi in Sandalwood through the official remake of Nikhil’s hit thriller Karthikeya.

Saikumar must be banking heavily on his fan following in Kannada and his new move could be the last master plan to keep Aadi’s career afloat. The remake is expected to begin in October and more details regarding the project may emerge soon.

US troop cut won’t impact mission in Afghanistan: US General

Share

obama

President Barack Obama’s decision to withdraw roughly 1,400 U.S. troops from Afghanistan won’t adversely impact America’s mission there, a top general said before arriving in Kabul on Friday, adding that some jobs could be done from abroad.Mr. Obama on Wednesday shelved his plans to cut the U.S. force nearly in half by year’s end, from 9,800 to 5,500. He opted instead for a more limited withdrawal to roughly 8,400 troops, noting that Afghan forces still needed U.S. support battling the Taliban insurgency after nearly 15 years of war.

In his first comments since Mr. Obama’s announcement, General Joseph Votel, the head of the U.S. military’s Central Command, played down any impact of the looming troop withdrawal even as he acknowledged Afghan forces were suffering heavy casualties.A recent Pentagon report to Congress said casualties among Afghan forces rose 27 per cent from Jan. 1 to Nov. 15 last year.“It’s difficult. They’re taking a lot of casualties. That’s a concern. We’ll have to pay attention to that,” Gen. Votel told a small group of reporters travelling with him to Afghanistan.

“But I don’t think the reductions that we are taking are going to impact the principal missions that we are doing, particularly with respect to the Afghan security forces.”Taliban forces now hold more territory in Afghanistan than at any time since the 2001 U.S.-led invasion, according to recent U.N. estimates. The Islamic State group has also established a small presence in Afghanistan.Republican critics of Mr. Obama questioned why, given Afghanistan’s security concerns, he was still intent on cutting the force at all. Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain said it was difficult to discern “any strategic rationale” for the cut.

Gen. Votel noted that Mr. Obama’s decision to keep 8,400 troops in the country was welcomed by allies, who are expected to broadly reaffirm their commitments to Afghanistan at a NATO summit on Warsaw on Friday and Saturday.“It sends a very hopeful message here for the coalition and I think it will encourage our partners to continue to contribute,” Gen. Votel said.Gen. Votel suggested the drawdown might take place gradually over coming months, with some support for the U.S. forces in Afghanistan being drawn from outside the country.“We’re going to achieve those reductions by moving some capabilities out that can be conducted over the horizon – that don’t necessarily need to be done in Afghanistan – to support the force,” he said, without elaborating.

Iraqi officials: attack on Shia shrine kills 37, wounds 62

iraq

The death toll from an attack on a Shia shrine north of Baghdad has risen to 37, with 62 people wounded, Iraqi officials said on Friday. The assault on the revered shrine comes less than a week after a bombing in central Baghdad claimed by the Islamic State group killed at least 186 people, fuelling anger at the Iraqi government’s security failings.

Volley of mortar fire

The attack began with a volley of mortar fire on Sayyid Mohammed shrine and a nearby market in Balad, 80 kilometres north of the Iraqi capital, late on Thursday night.A suicide bomber first targeted policemen guarding the shrine’s entrance, allowing a second bomber to push into the courtyard with nine gunmen, who targeted security forces and civilians who had gathered inside to celebrate Id-ul-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. A third bomber was killed before he detonated his explosives, police officials said. Police and hospital officials confirmed the death toll, speaking anonymously as they were not authorised to release information to the media.

Anger and protests in Baghdad

In Baghdad, anger and protests were growing outside the scene of last weekend’s car bomb attack, which was one of the deadliest since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. Many Iraqis blame their political leadership for security lapses that allow such large-scale bombings to happen in territory far from the frontline fighting against the Islamic State (IS).

Such blasts a near-daily affair

Small-scale bombings occur on a near-daily basis in Baghdad, and in May a string of larger attacks, many of them claimed by the IS, killed more than 200 people in a single week. The IS was pushed out of Fallujah last month after holding the city just west of Baghdad for more than two years. Despite a string of territorial defeats, the IS still holds pockets of territory in northern and western Iraq, including the country’s second largest city of Mosul.

3 top officials dismissed

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on Friday dismissed three top officials in charge of Baghdad’s security after the bombing.A statement posted on his Facebook page said he had fired the commander of military operations, security services and intelligence in the capital.

varun

The much delayed Varun Tej and Srinu Vaitla’s Mister will finally begin on 10th of this month in Spain. The actor will be seen as a University Topper in the film but will appear as a Police Officer for some time in the movie. Vaitla has this sentiment of showing his hero as Police officer in all his films.

The director believe such getup will bring special luck to the film. Once the Spain schedule is complete, from there the team will be going to Brazil. Majority of the film shoot will take place in Karnataka Border. Varun Tej so far had played only sober and intense roles. However the first time, the actor is trying his hand in comedy with this film.

Srinu Vaitla announced that he is attempting a Love story filled with Action and entertainment after a long time. The film will have Mickey J.Meyer composing the music. This is the first time Mickey scoring music for Srinu Vaitla’s film. He previously scored music for Varun Tej’s debut film, Mukundha. Nallamalupu Bujji is producing this film under his Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Productions Banner. Gopimohan and Sreedhar Seepana are assisting Vaitla in the script work.

Memu Review

Share

Story:

Naina (Vaishnavi) and Naveen (Nishesh) are troublesome kids and their respective parents face lot of problems with them as the schools get rid of them due to their mischievious behaviour. Later they are also put to hostel but of no use. But biggest shock for the parents await when the go missing from their apartments. They are later found with Dr. Ramanadhan (Surya) and his wife Padma (Amala Paul). What happens next in their lives forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Memu is one of such films where the performances have all gone well. Suriya and Amala Paul’s roles were more like extended cameos and they have managed them very well with their subtle performances. The kids have done well. Bindu Madhavi and Vidya made their presence felt as worried mothers. Ramdoss is convincing as a person with kleptomnia disease. Karthik Kumar is also good as well. Others are fine.

Technical Performances:

Memu deals with the problems of children due to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and is very much inspired from Bollywood blockbuster, Taare Zameen Par. However the director Pandiraj in a bid to mask the inspiration tries different things and in the process, he missed the chance to put his case strongly on the chosen subject. More over the film is made like a documentary which goes preachy. Adding to that there is no predictability or entertaining elements which bore the audience. Amol Corelli’s music is okay, the first song will impress the children very much. The Back ground score is also good as well. Camera work reflects the mood of the film while Editing is disappointing second half. Production Values are appropriate.

Plus Points:

1. Intent
2. Suriya and Amala Paul’s Cameo
3. First half and the climax.

Minus Points:

1. Bad Second half
2. Too much of lag
3. Predictable narration
4. Failed direction

Final Say:

A message oriented film can not be preachy all the time. The director have to sugar coat with at least some commercial elements, so that the audience will find patience to sit through the film. But Pandiraj failed to do that for Memu. It can be a one time watch given its honest intent and good message.
