Charging your phone with wasted heat
Designers Vihanga Gore and Sergey Komardenkov want to make charging your phone as simple as putting a hot pan down on the table. Their theoretical concept, Heat Harvest, takes the heat energy expelled by everyday objects around the house, like cooking pans straight off the stove and converts it to electricity that can be used to charge cell phones and other portable devices. The Copenhagen Institute of Interaction students came up with the concept at Space10, a Copenhagen innovation lab run by IKEA, and envision it being built into IKEA furniture so that users could put the wasted heat from steaming mugs of tea (or an overheated laptop sitting on a table) to work. Heat harvesting pads could also be used under televisions, power strips, or any other object that generates heat.
The IKEA concept is still very hypothetical, but it should be noted, not at all far-fetched. Wireless charging pads are already used to charge phones like the Samsung Galaxy through an electromagnetic field, and a few camping stoves allow you to hook up a phone charger to power devices using the heat of the campfire.

Akbaruddin Throws A Challenge To Government

He is the brave son of India who once remarked that “You Hindus are 75 crore and we Muslims are 25 crore. Remove the police for 25 minutes and we will show you the might of Muslims.” Ironically, this fellow was saved by a Hindu cop, when he was critically injured by fellow Muslims in an attack on him, in Old City. Anyway, coming to the point, the MIM has been asking for a realignment of the Metro Rail in Sultan Bazaar and certain other areas. The government caved in to the pressure of MIM and asked L&T for the same.
Now, L &T has made it clear that there will be no realignment as it would result in huge cost escalation and they would be sticking to the original plan. The government has also reportedly agreed to the same. Responding to this decision, Akbaruddin has said, “If there is no realignment of Metro, then Metro Rail won’t be a reality in the Old City.” How will KCR take on this challenge of MIM? Giving further prize money to Sania Mirza is definitely not a solution here. Appeasement of a different sort is required!

Size Zero Movie Review – 2.5/5
Story:
Soundarya (Anushka) is an obese girl hailing from a middle class family. She works in a local Chinese Fast Food Center. She falls love at first sight to Abhi (Aarya). When all the matches are turning away due to her heavy weight, Soundarya’s mother (Urvasi) forces her join Size Zero Slimming Centre run by Satyanand (Prakash Raaj) which uses some drugs to burn the fat. Following the Size Zero failure, Sweety along with her friend, Jyothi (Pavani Gangireddy) start their own natural slimming center. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Anushka is every bit what the role demands her to be. She did lot of hard work to put up that extra oodles of weight for that gigantic shoulders, round cheeks and plump figure. Even after disfiguring her figure, she is still sweet and cute with the usual smile. Aarya gets a simple role and he sleep walks through it. Sonal Chauhan also gets a limited space and in which she is okay.
Prakash Raj is good as always in the role of an antagonist. Brahmanandam is totally wasted while Pavani Gangireddy makes only a limited impression. Urvasi, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao are good even in the limited roles they are offered. Cameos by Rana Daggubati, Nagarjuna, Hansika Motwani, Tamannaah, Lakshmi Machu, Jiiva and Bobby Simha are fine.
Technical Performances:
Size Zero storyline has similarities to that of Malayalam movie, ‘De Thadiya’, Director Prakash Kovelamudi tried hand with decent concepts like Unnatural weight reduction, Unconditional Love, pre-marriage issues etc but did not have a credible plotline and screenplay (by Kanika) to make it engaging.
Further the entertainment levels are not on expected levels disappointing the audience. The first half shows us that there is no direction to the film but there is no redemption even in the second half. Further the climax is even disappointing.
Nirav Shah’s cinematography is disappointing. Editing and Art direction are equally appalling. MM Keeravani’s music is middling and the BGM adds grace to the proceedings. The CG work is good while Production values are just fine.
Highlights:
- Anushka.
- Comedy here and there
Drawbacks:
- Screenplay
- Second half
- Weak emotions
Final Say:
We have seen several films on Weight issues like Kobbaribondam to Laddu Babu. The director had added few new issues like unhealthy diet, Slimming Centres angle, Marriage issues, innate love, message etc. Even though the intent is good, Prakash’s inability to make a tasty dish foiled the attempt. Try this one at your own risk.

Mumbai: Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma get along like a house on fire. The former lovers recently caught up with each other and added a tinge of madness with a dubsmash video that will instantly crack you up. The clip shows the close bond of friendship that they share.
Ranveer is gearing up for the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ where he essays the role of Peshwa Maratha warrior. Anushka mouthed Ranveer’s trademark dialogue from the film- “Bajirao ne Mastani se mohobbat ki hai, ayaashi nahi!” The actress totally nails it in the clip shared by Ranveer. He posted it as, “Bittoo se Bajirao tak :)) Presenting the One & Only @AnushkaSharma !! #BajiraoMastaniDubsmash #BajiraoMastani”
Ranbir explained that their statement was taken out of context
Mumbai: Deepika Padukone was really ‘hurt’ when her comment about Ranbir Kapoor’s marriage, that went viral on the social media, was taken out of context. In a recent interview, the 29-year-old actress reportedly was quoted, saying “Ranbir can’t get married till I allow it.”
However, the ‘Tamasha’ costars later clarified the statement and explained that their statement was taken out of context. Ranbir said that Deepika said it in jest, adding “they had asked me when will I marry? Then they saw Deepika, like she is my mom, and asked her what she feels about it.” He also said that sometimes people just read the headlines and not the actual material inside. Deepika revealed that she was hurt when she read the report and the comments like ‘How can she say this,’ ‘What does she think of herself.’
Ranbir Kapoor’s “Jagga Jasoos” is not delayed
Panaji: Anurag Basu is working with Ranbir Kapoor and his girlfriend Katrina Kaif in “Jagga Jasoos” and the filmmaker says casting real-life couple in a film is often a disadvantage as it is difficult for them to romance on-screen. The upcoming detective comedy-drama will reunite Basu with his “Barfi” star and this is the first time the director is helming a project with Katrina as the female lead. “Having a real-life couple is not an advantage but it is rather a disadvantage. The actors know each other so well and you are lovers in real-life, it gets difficult for them to bring their chemistry on the screen. So this is going to be very challenging,” Basu told PTI on the sidelines of IFFI. The director says “Jagga Jasoos” is not delayed and it was supposed to come after Ranbir’s other projects- “Bombay Velvet” and “Tamasha” as the actor prefers to have a gap of six months between his two movies. “We have not shot the film. Ranbir is shooting Karan Johar’s film. I have only shot few days when he was free.
Our film was always supposed to come after ‘Bombay Velvet’ and ‘Tamasha’. When I started my film I knew this is going to be my schedule as Ranbir keeps a gap of six months. No actor would release two films in two months. This was the chronology that was to happen.” There has been a lot of speculations about the film but the “Gangster” helmer is not complaining as he feels it is a good sign and shows that people are curious about the project. “It is good that speculations are there, it shows people are curious about the film.” According to the filmmaker they will resume the shooting in January and wrap the film in two months for a release in 2016.
Christian-Muslim dialogue only way out in Kenya: Pope
Pope Francis told Christian and Muslim leaders in Kenya on Thursday that they have little choice but to engage in dialogue to guard against the “barbarous” Islamic extremist attacks that have struck the African country recently, saying religious leaders must be “prophets of peace” in a world sown by hatred. On his first full day in Africa, the Pope insisted that religion can never be used to justify violence and lamented that “all too often, young people are being radicalised in the name of religion to sow discord and fear, and to tear at the very fabric of our societies.” Mass on rain-soaked campus The Pope made the comments in a meeting with Kenyan Christian, Muslim and other faith leaders at the start of a busy day that will also see him celebrate Mass on a rain-soaked university campus and deliver a major environment speech to the U.N. regional headquarters in Nairobi. On Friday, he heads to Uganda for the second leg of his first African pilgrimage. Kenya, a former British colony, is majority Christian, but Muslims represent about 10 percent of the population.
Refers to al-Shabab attacks In his remarks, Pope Francis referred explicitly to three recent attacks claimed by the Somalia-based al-Shabab extremist group, saying he knew well that the memories were still fresh in Kenya’s mind. In April, the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack on a mostly Christian college in north-eastern Kenya that left some 150 people dead. A month earlier, al-Shabab claimed responsibility for attacks in Mandera county on the Somali border in which 12 people died. In September 2013, at least 67 people were killed in an attack by al-Shabab on the Westgate mall in Nairobi. Al-Shabab opposes Kenya’s decision to send troops to Somalia to fight the group as part of an African Union force backing Somalia’s weak federal government. ‘The God we seek is a God of peace’ “Here, I think of the importance of our common conviction that the God whom we seek to serve is a God of peace,” the Pope said. “How important it is that we be seen as prophets of peace, peacemakers who invite others to live in peace, harmony and mutual respect.”
