Akkineni fans hoped that Akhil would create records for a debut film with ‘Akhil’. The movie has opened so well that it has set a new record for a debutante’s film. That’s about it!Akhil has seen a major fall from its second day and never picked up. Collections were disastrous even during the first weekend that Akhil has managed only about 17 crores share in its five day weekend.

The film is already into deficits and the collections trend on Monday will surely put the film out of theaters within no time. Akhil would end up below 20 crore mark says the trade which means Akkineni star failed to beat the record set by Ram Charan with Chirutha in 2007! Charan still holds full run record for a debut film and it is expected to be safe until Balakrishna’s son Mokshagna arrives.

Akhil’s show in overseas is even worse than the domestic business. The film has collected meager $162K by the end of Sunday which is no way relative to the money invested and the huge release across United States. Even Naga Chaitanya’s Dohchay, which was also a major disaster, collected $165K in its full run. This explains the magnanimity of Akhil’s failure.

Telugu film lovers would never say composer Devi Sri Prasad is not great. Even if any critic says, would they dare to say that along with DSP, King Of Pop Michael Jackson is also not great. One director is stubborn to say that, and he supports his claim.

Talented director Sukumar is all excited about his latest movie “Kumari 21 F”, as he has written the story and producing this film for his associate Surya Pratap Palnati. Promoting the film, Sukumar says it vehemently, “Both Michael Jackson and Devi have their genes of dads with them, which made them inherit many talents. So, they are not great in my view”.

In the wake of DSP writing lyrics, correcting lyric writers many times and coming up with songs that have lyrical value, Sukumar feels that DSP has inherited his father, writer Satya Murthy’s talents. Coming to MJ, his father happens to be a part-time guitarist and his mother also had her interests in music though she worked at departmental store.

“Water will flow. Sun will rise and Devi’s music is good” concludes Sukumar, though he says that Devi got all the talents inherited.

Noted film actor Vinod Alva was arrested by police following allegations against him for attempting to murder his employee who manages his financial affairs. Puttur police have arrested Vinod when his financial manager Sachidananda filed a complaint with police. As per the complaint lodged by Sachidananda, Vinod along with one Uday had tried to kill him with the help of a vehicle so that it could be passed as an accident case.

Sachidananda escaped the accident with injuries and complained the matter to police. A case was registered under IPC sections 120 B (Criminal conspiracy) and 307 (Attempt to murder). Ryshyanth C B, assistant superintendent of police in Puttur is supervising investigation of the case. SP Sharanappa said that they’re probing the issue and more details are awaited in the case.

By this time, it became very clear that on the same 100 rupees ticket we’re gong to see nearly five heroines and heroines with “Size Zero”. As the film got more weight with guests like Nagarjuna, Rana, Kajal, Tamanna and Sri Divya doing guest roles, it’s being felt in film circles that all these cameos are the result of Anushka’s friendship with them.

It doesn’t seem that way, because all these stars and starlets are part of the other projects being produced by PVP Cinema. While Nag and Tamanna are from “Oopiri”, Rana and Sri Divya come from “Bangalore Days” remake and Kajal is from “Brahmotsavam”. Probably it’s the connection of these stars with PVP’s other project that made them part of “Size Zero” but not anything else.

Anyway, only if Anushka’s heavy weighted comedy clicks at box office, all these star cameos help enhance the revenues a little bit. Hope director Prakash Rao Kovelamudi is going to taste the first success of his career.

Never in the past, there was so much euphoria around a debutant hero. Even during the times when Ramcharan was launched with ‘Chirutha’ to take Mega reigns, the hype was present but it did not damage overall result of film. Unlike buildup given for Akhil and Fans assuming it all to be true finally resulted in Mega disaster. The way Akkineni Fans bashed Nithin and Vinayak on social networking with filthy comments hearing on ‘Akhil’ postponement exposes the negative effect.

Keeping energy low or say within limits could have definitely nullified ‘Akhil’ damage to an extent. On one side, Akkineni admirers started to annoy Mega and Ghattamaneni Fans at one go by circulating many pre release rumors and on other side ‘Akhil’ producers continued with creation of bellicose atmosphere around the film.

‘Akhil has done extremely well as newcomer but film suffered badly due to content and lack of script, direction. There were many occasions in past when films of these standards recovered and stood fine at Box Office. Apparently, ‘Akhil’ saw a rapid fall only for rubbing on wrong way of opposition heroes Fans. What’s the use,’ one more questioning comment heard in film circles.

‘Friendship is altogether a different element unconnected to profession,’ says Junior NTR’s close friend Rajeev Kanakala. The highly talented supporting actor is out from the central attention in last few years owing to different reasons. There is no compulsion on NTR to recommend my name for all his films. Friendship is different from profession. When there is a space, automatically directors will approach me. I am doing a nice role in ‘Nannaku Prematho’ which you know NTR is hero,’ Rajeev says it with clarity.

Is the magic around Kamal Hasan name slowly fading out? Why is it none in Telugu states are speaking about ‘Cheekati Rajyam’ releasing on 20th of this month alongside ‘Kumari 21 F’ which relatively has lower star value of Raj Tharun, Hebah Patel over Kamal Hasan, Trisha, Prakash Raj in ‘Cheekati Rajyam.’

Though Kamal showed his face to Telugu media some time ago to declare ‘Cheekati Rajyam’ release postponement giving space for ‘Akhil’ quoting on non-availability good theaters, later on the promotions gradually slowed down. When makers of a small film like ‘Kumari 21 F’ are aggressively publicizing their product raising interest and excitement, despite good reviews for ‘Thoonga Vanam’ (Tamil original for ‘Cheekati Rajyam’), why Telugu version hasn’t generated any buzz.

To mere surprise, many of the audience in metros are uninformed about ‘Cheekati Rajyam’ release goes on to show inferior promotional campaigns initiated by respective team members. Looks like one more film from Kamal is slowly going into darkness much before the release! Thanks, at least ‘Cheekati Rajyam’ is staying up to the literal meaning in its title.

If grapevine is to be believed, actor Aravind Swamy has demanded over Rs 3 Crore for the Telugu remake of Tamil superhit Thani Oruvan. When producers NV Prasad had approached Aravind Swamy to reprise the same role he essayed in the original, Swamy said to have asked Rs 3 Crore as remuneration.

Shocked with the quoted figure, the makers of the Telugu version dropped the idea to cast Swamy. Even Ram Charan asked the makers to look for other actors like Sudeep or Madhavan or Neil Nitin Mukesh who could do it for relatively less price.

Though Swamy was seen as villain in the film, the total film revolves around him and he’s been there throughout the film and his character in the film is very powerful. An actor like Aravind Swamy, who has a soft image among Tamil audience, playing a baddie in the movie worked out well. It needs to be seen who will step into the shoes of Aravind and do justice to it in the Telugu. At the moment, producers of Telugu version are hunting for a good villain opposite Charan.

It’s already reported that producer Allu Aravind will oversee the production of this yet-to-be-titled movie which will see Surender Reddy directing the project. Makers want to wrap up the film within Rs 25 Crore budget.

Sensational mass director VV Vinayak had shock of his life with the result of his latest release, Akhil. The film which has a pre-release business of 47 Crore is now struggling to make even 20 Crore. Many are even saying Vinayak’s chapter is closed.

Vinayak is reportedly working on what went wrong with Akhil. He had decided to take two months break and only then he will decide up on his next project. We have heard that he is in contention for Chiranjeevi’s 150th project.

But it is now next to impossible after the disastrous result of Akhil. Vinayak who was once a star heroes choice, made his last two films with debutantes – Bellamkonda Srinu and Akhil. We will have to see with whom he will be working next!

Sukumar’s maiden production venture, Kumari 21F is all set for a grand release on this Friday. There are good expectations on the film as the trailers and music album are impressive. Amid all this, the A certificate for the film came as a shock. But hero Raj Tharun says it does not matter.

“A film can get A certificate for many reasons and there is no vulgarity in this flick. Kumari 21F is a youthful entertainer and can be watched by families. In fact, Pokiri got an A certificate but was liked by all sections of audience”, he said.

Director Sukumar himself penned this script for this film. Current fame Palnati Surya Pratap is wielding megaphone for this movie. Devi Sri Prasad is the music composer. Hebah Patel is making her Telugu debut with this film.

The awesome looking actress who made it to top of the career by romancing star heroes like Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Nagarjuna etc in very early days of career disappeared from limelight ever since she married Bharath Thakur and then faced severe losses as a producer. Tamil star hero Suriya is a pretty known face for Telugu audience. He developed a strong market in two Telugu speaking states from the times of ‘Ghazini’ and his upcoming film ‘Memu’ has been a eye catcher for family audience. Titled as ‘Pasanga 2: Haiku’ in Tamil, directed by Pandiraj is purely a children’s flick with striking innocence of kids attracting in teasers.

To our audience information, Suriya and Amala Paul are not the leads in the film. They are just doing extended cameos while Karthik Kumar, Bindu Madhavi along with child artists like Kavin, Abhiman and Nayana are the central attractions. Concepts revolving around our educational system and burdening of tender brains are very rarely dealt in commercial main stream cinema. It was ‘Taare Zameen Par’ from Aamir Khan which can be remembered for a long time.

Watching Suriya’s histrionics in ‘Memu’ teaser and the pain undergone by parents, students showed lot of similarities with Aamir and ‘TZP.’ A film with good purpose always has bright chances to strike with Telugu audience. So, ‘Memu’ can be one more good film from Suriya we have to wait for.

Rana Daggubati is currently busy wrapping up the shooting of his Tamil Multistarer film which is the remake of Malayalam blockbuster, Bangalore days. And now Rana signs yet another Multistarer there. This time it is in the direction of National Awards winning director, Bala.

Vishal, Aarya, Atharva and Arvind Swamy will be seen in other important roles. Sources say that talks are on with Vikram as well. More clarity will emerge after the official announcement of the project On the other side there is a buzz in Kollywood that the film may be set in British Era and is based on the denotified tribes.

Rana will be shutting between Hyderabad and Chennai for the shootings of Baahubali-2 and this project.

One week is enough for star heroes’ films to recover major share of producers and buyers investments. In fact, first two to three days become so crucial and collections in these days again form a huge chunk in overall share. Despite divided or weak opening reports for their films, star heroes show their stamina in these days. However, what could be the pitiful adverse situation of buyers and exhibitors when a movie released with excessive hype begins to fall in deficits from day three or four?

‘Akhil’ buyers and distributors are narrating the heart paining story. After buying many areas at exceptional prices never heard for a debutant hero, exhibitors too showed wonderful trust on Akhil star value. Unfortunately, nothing went as per their calculations. Except the first day or say opening day collections, there was a steep fall in all the territories.

As per official trade reports, almost all the single theaters and multiplexes screening ‘Akhil’ have fallen into deficits yesterday. Response from crowds is so meager that balcony tickets sold are not even reaching a double digit figure in few areas. Till the time ‘Size Zero’ or any other big film occupies these theatres, ‘Akhil’ continues to degrade further.

Days ahead of Majnu’s launch, Rakul Preet Singh said No to the makers citing dates Problem. That leaves the makers on a look out for the other heroine. They are reportedly planning to rope in Nitya Menen for the role. This is the remake of Malayalam blockbuster, Premam.

The film is titled Majnu and will be directed by Karthikeya fame Chandoo Mondenti. The film will have its launch on December 1st and the film will start rolling immediately after its launch. The makers of Majnu have decided to complete the movie in record pace.

They have chalked out 90 days non-stop schedule for the movie and the movie is being planned for May release the next year. Majnu will be shot extensively in the exotic locales of Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Goa, Europe, Pollachi and Araku.Shruti Hassan and Anupama Parameshwaran are the other heroines.
