I’ve Not Insulted, Just Described – Ali

Share

‘It’s a joke bounced to entertain people, but to not insult Anushka’, affirms Ali, clarifying about his comments made on Anushka at ‘Size Zero’ audio launch. Speaking on a TV show, the senior comedian has apologized to Anushka and other woman who are blasting him on social media, for his comments, which are being termed as ‘regressive’.

‘My comments are aimed only to describe a heroine or anyone’s beauty, but not to insult them. I’ve just described their glamour. I don’t think it’s wrong. As the dissent against those ‘glamorous’ comments is heaping up, I’ve decided not to talk that way in the future.

I’m sorry if any heroine or other women got hurt’, he said. However Ali expressed his dissatisfaction over the way media houses are writing him. ‘Many are quoting me with the comments which I’ve never said. I’m not saying I’ll take action against them, but how it’s ethical’ he asked.

But why is Ali passing those sexist comments only on heroines, no heroes? ‘If there is a biryani and a pappu-annam dish placed on a table, all non-veg lovers surely pick biryani only. Heroines are like biryani’, says Ali, quipping, ‘don’t treat this Biryani joke as another insult’.

Hyderabad: The CBI’s Hyderabad unit is probing the alleged BHEL fraud worth Rs 71 crore in which Kolkata-based companies and top officials of BHEL Hyderabad’s marketing department are said to be involved. Abhijit Infra Limited of Salt Lake, Kolkata, which is an accused in the case, also figured in the coal scam since coal blocks were allocated to one of it’s group companies.

The CBI FIR states that BHEL officials had violated the rules and delivered turbines and other heavy machinery worth crores, to be used for thermal power plants in Jharkhand and Visakhapatnam, by collecting only advances without total payments. According to sources in CBI, Abhijit Infra had initially paid 10 per cent advance while placing orders for the thermal plant and had got all the equipment delivered without full payment.

“Officials of CM and DGM ranks, who were with the marketing department of BHEL Hyderabad, were also named in the case for their connivance with the private company. An FIR has been issued and investigation is in progress. The same company, Abhijit Infra, also figured in the coal scam. There are other companies too,” said a CBI source. BHEL in August 2010 had struck an agreement with Abhijit Infra to supply equipment worth Rs 2,525 crore for a 1080 MW thermal power plant in Jharkhand. The contract involved supplying and installing the main plant package for Phase-I and Phase-II of Abhijit’s coal-based Matr-ishri Usha Jayaswal Mega Power Plant, located at Latehar district of Jharkhand, near Ranchi.

In 2013, BHEL had stopped supply as the outstanding payments from Abhijit and other companies had mounted to more than Rs 2,000 crore. CBI has also charged Jas Infrastructure and Power Ltd, a subsidiary of the Abhijit Group. The group is also setting up a power plant in the Atchyuthapuram SEZ in Visakhapatnam.

Painting is not part of tech curriculum

Hyderabad: Engineering and management students and even administrators are perplexed with the circular. Former AICTE director Prof. S.S. Mantha said, “I don’t know how engineering students are connected with wall paintings. Apart from helping prevent use of walls for election and political propaganda, I don’t how this helps cleanliness. As a concept, swachhta is very good but it should come from within rather than painting walls.”

Even if students are forced, they think they would only spoil walls. “I don’t know how AICTE missed the fact that painting is not a part of our curriculum and how we can actually paint murals, that too in crowded public places,” said T. Varun Kumar, a Fourth Year engineering student. In a better initiative, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked schools to get students to put up art work, messages and pointers on toilet walls on personal hygiene and sanitation.

Prime Minister Modi had launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on Gandhi Jayanti last year. With the campaign completing one year, the Centre has begun sector wise celebrations.
“In addition to the activities that they [engineering colleges] had taken up last year, institutes may also take up wall paintings and murals by students, on the theme of Swachhta, on compound walls and other public places in their respective cities,” AICTE chairman Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe stated in the circular sent to all approved institutions.

There are reports that the film’s Censor of Telugu version is facing certain issues regarding to the title. As per the rules, Telugu version title should match with its Hindi version name. That’s also creating doubts if Salman-Charan’s Prema Leela could be seen on 12th or not.

iPhone concepts: An iPhone 7 Edge with ‘no edges’

Share

iPhone7Concept (1)

Well, iPhone 6S was just launched just a few weeks ago. Apple did not carry the number forward and decided to stick with iPhone 6 and succeeded with S as the flagships for 2015. However, the next phone has no choice and Apple would be naming it as the iPhone 7, unless they decide something else.

The iPhone 7 is definitely going to draw huge attention from the market and its fans. Since Apple did not do anything great with the iPhone 6S, they better plan something awesome for the 2016 launch. Concept designers have already planned out the next flagship from the fruit-named tech company and have designed an iPhone 7 with and egde.In the concept design rendered by Mesut G Designs, the artist has given the smartphone a unique look partially borrowed from its rivals. The iPhone 7 in the concept features the display extending out to the edges, around the left and right side of the handset. He has also conceptualized a completely edgeless display where the speaker and the home button are integrated into the display itself. Have a look.

Dasari Compares Audio Functions to Oscars

Share

dasari1

Oscars is all about honouring talent, while Telugu film Audio functions are none other than a promotional event. Except for the fact that both are related to films, they can’t be compared in anyways. Still, Darsakaratna Dasari Narayana Rao compares them.

“These days Telugu movie audio functions have become carnivals in villages. First they pollute the stage with recording dances and then they flood it with various celebs. Even while young persons are speaking, other big dignitaries are made to stand with folded hands”, said Dasari, while passing comments at an audio function recently. He added, “At Oscar awards, there will be only two people present- the one who presents award and the one who receives. Why don’t we learn? Audio functions turned disgusting these days”.

As Telugu audio functions are all about kick starting the promotions of a film, a two hour content should be generated for TV channels to air, for which dances, joke shows and inviting many people to speak on dais is happening. Otherwise if only two people are invited, the one who launches audio and the one who receives first CD, how will a film get promoted? Logic missing.

First Look: Puri And Varun’s ‘Loafer’

Share

loafer

Putting a full stop to all the rumours and speculations about the title of his upcoming film, director Puri Jagan has finally unveiled the First Look of his latest movie. Titled “Loafer”, the film stars mega hero Varun Tej in the lead, while senior actress Revathi is playing a crucial role and hot model Disha Patani is debuting as heroine.

The film’s first look gives a beautiful glimpse about the film. Varun Tej looks like a pakka commercial mass hero, while Disha is busy catering for the glamour department. Actress Revathi is  playing a crucial role of Varun’s mother, while Posani will be seen in another important role. As Puri revealed earlier that his hero plays the role of a thief in this movie, Varun Tej’s look is dashing on that lines.

Suddenly “Loafer” might spring a surprise at box office, either by opting for a December release or by gunning at Sankranthi 2016 if the films scheduled for that season get postponed by any chance. Watch this space for updates.
