Returning national awards not right: Hema Malini

Share

hema-malini_0_0_0_0_0

Mumbai: Actress-politician Hema Malini is not in favour of filmmakers returning their National Awards in protest against instances of growing intolerance in the country. Last month, 12 filmmakers announced that they would return their National Awards, also in the wake of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) stalemate. “It (returning national awards) is not a right thing to do. I feelit is a politically instigated matter. People are dying to get a National Award… it’s a national reputation.

“People come to me saying if I can help them in getting national award. And here these people are returning awards,” the BJP MP told PTI. FTII students had gone on an indefinite strike from June 12 following the appointment of television actor and BJP member Gajendra Chauhan as chairman of its Governing Council. They also expressed discontent alleging that Chauhan lacked the expertise and credentials to secure a place in the prestigious institute.

Filmmakers returning their National Awards include Dibakar Banerjee, Anand Patwardhan, Paresh Kamdar, and Nishtha Jain. Celebrities like Anil Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Anupam Kher have also said not in favour of the move. On whether FTII row can be resolved, Malini just offered, “We will talk later about it.”

‘I love doing the regular things’

Tamanna Bhatia High Resolution Wallpaper

For someone still in her 20s, Tamannaah Bhatia works a lot. In the city to promote the first South Indian edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, Tamannaah is also shooting for a song for Sreenivas Pellakonda’s new film, as well as for her role in the upcoming bi-lingual Oopiri. But she still insists that she loves doing the “regular” things. “I love spending time with my family, and I love doing the regular things — going to watch movies at theatres, shopping on the road side,” she says, adding, “But to be honest, I’ve not really done much of ‘chilling’ because I’ve been working very hard.”

A believable fact, considering she’s been working as an actress since she was 13, with her first film — Chand Sa Roshan Chehra, which she admits wasn’t her best effort, but which led her to Tollywood. “I was very young and was doing a lot of commercials and even did a Hindi film which was pretty much a non starter,” Tamannaah says, “After I got my first Telugu offer, it became like a circuit — one film led to another and I just stayed on.” After doing the commercially successful Happy Days in 2012, she was on her way to fulfilling her childhood dream. “It started off as one of those things kids say, ‘I want to become a doctor, I want to become an actress’,” she says, “At that age you say those things but don’t actually mean it, but in my case I started taking up theatre. My interest propelled my career, but it was also a lot of luck because the right opportunities came my way.”

Starring in multiple languages helped her along, something she picked up early. “I picked up Tamil and Telugu in the third or fourth year of my career,” she explains, “The film can be in any language, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu… but for me it should excite me as an actor. As long as that happens I don’t really choose it on the merit of the language, but on the project itself.”

Her friendship with fellow actress Kajal Aggarwal is also much-talked about, and she says actresses can be friends too even if they’re competing with each other. “I get along very well with Kajal and we meet on a more social level as well. So you can form friendships as well without baggage, if you really want to. In our case it happened because we had a very similar career path as well.”

After her role in Baahubali, which gave her and the South Indian film industry huge recognition, she says Tollywood is finally being recognised. “The South has always been a very important film industry, even in the world. So we’re really excited about IIFA coming here. What I’m most excited about is that Baahubali has been nominated in pretty much every category.”

That’s not funny Ali

Ali Tollywood Comedian_0

The comedian Ali seems all set to annoy and shock. A day after he called Size-Zero star Anushka Shetty a hot jalebi at the audio event of the film (adding that he “likes” Anushka’s thighs) a photo of him in a sling has emerged on Facebook, with a scribble that could create further trouble. On the cast, is the text — “Never hit ur wife again!” Ali had turned up at the Size Zero event with a bandaged arm and when asked why, he maintained it was an injury during a film shoot. Sources claim the actor had hurt himself during a shoot for the Puri Jagannadh film Loafer starring Varun Tej.

But he had managed to cover up the scribble under the shirt he was wearing at the event. It’s also being claimed a female co-star may have written the line on his arm. Ali is taking intense flak now for his sexually suggestive remarks aimed at Anushka. Reports claim certain women’s organisations are now seeking action against the actor for his remarks.

“If you see Anushka in Billa, she has showed off her thighs and I’ve become a big fan of hers since that movie. But it’s actually Raghavendra Rao’s work. It’s he who focuses on the thighs of actresses and now, his son is taking after him,” Ali had said, on Sunday.

This spray can attachment converts photos into graffiti

SprayPrinter

If you’ve ever dreamed of creating graffiti on par with the most impressive street art, this bit of smart tech can help you get started. The SprayPrinter attaches to a spray can and converts images from your phone into wall-sized, pixelated graffitis — no artistic skill required.

It works through a companion app that breaks images down into pixels and sends the information to the attachment. Your phone’s camera then tracks the position of the SprayPrinter as it moves across the wall and controls when each spray of paint is released.

The result is a larger-than-life dot matrix painting that anyone with patience and a smartphone can create. As the SprayPrinter uses your phone’s camera to track its movement instead of a built-in sensor, the product will be affordable. The Estonian start-up behind the device aims to make it available to the public through Indiegogo next month. In addition to being able to choose pre-selected designs from the app, users will be able share, buy, and sell original images through the app.

Young Mega Hero To Fight Nandamuri Giants

During every Sankranthi season, at least one Mega family film enthralls the Mega fans and this year it was Pawan Kalyan’s Gopala Gopala. When Sardaar commenced its shooting, it was speculated that the film will release during the Sankranthi season in 2016. However, with unwarranted delays, Sardaar withdrew from the Sankranthi race and there was no Mega family film to strike the Samkranthi jackpot.

But thanks to Puri Jagannadh’s jet speed filmmaking, young Mega hero Varun Tej is almost ready with his Maa Amma Seethamahalakshmi, formerly titled Loafer. Until a few days ago, the film was poised for a December 18th release. But as per the latest reports, the film has now joined the Sankranthi race and has grabbed the 14th January berth.

With this last minute change in the release date, this Mega hero will now compete with the two Nandamuri biggies Balakrishna and NTR, who were earlier locking horns with each other with Dictator and Nannaku Pematho respectively.

While it is also being discussed that NTR may withdraw from the Sankranthi race against his babai if Balayya’s Dictator makes it for a Sankranthi release, it is confirmed that at least one Nandamuri film will be in the Sankranthi race. So, this Sankranthi will see the Mega-Nandamuri battle once again.

Naidu Using Govt Employees To Create ‘Realty Boom’ !

Share

chandrababu_41446717845

Is Naidu utilising government employees to create ‘realty boom’ in new capital city Amaravathi? The latest developments wherein Naidu threatening and warning employees to shift to Amaravathi capital city by June 2, 2016 are being viewed in this direction.AP goverment employees are angry at Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for forcing them to vacate Hyderabad and move to Amaravathi as early as possible without making any arrangements in the new capital city for their residential and official accommodation.

While employees are whole-heartedly welcoming Naidu’s proposal to shift to Amaravathi by June 2, 2016, they raise questions over where to accommodate their families and where to admit their children for school and college education. They state that they are ready to work in make-shift tents or under the trees in Amaravathi and contribute their part for the speedy development of new capital city, but the problem lies with their family members. Employees associations doubt the ‘malafide intentions’ of Naidu in forcing them to vacate Hyderabad and move to new capital without residential buildings or office accommodation.

They argue that Naidu’s warnings will result in over 40,000 AP employees shifting to Amaravathi from Hyderabad at a time, which will force them to purchase plots and build houses or seek rented premises and this will contribute to ‘realty boom’ in Amaravathi, which would be exploited by those realtors close to Naidu. They say it’s not fair on the part of Naidu to create realty boom at the cost of employees and their families.

Trisha Concentrating on Heroine Centric Films

t333

Till date, Trisha Krishnan is known as a flamboyant glamorous performer who makes it a perfect pairing besides all the star heroes, young and veteran. Enjoying the superb limelight for more than a decade, time has come for Trisha to change the track for a while. Of course, new babes entering into film industry have started to pose the competition and producers, directors looking for different combinations have surely reduced the offers for Trisha but never think this is the end of road.

Trisha’s last offing ‘Lion’ in Telugu also hasn’t left any sweet memories. She seems to have very early realized on changing the selection of scripts as done by Anushka. Drawing the inspiration, Trisha is currently working hard to gain the mileage purely as versatile performer. So are the upcoming projects like, ‘Cheekati Rajyam, Nayaki, Aranmanai 2’ and ‘Bhogi.’

Reports say, all three to four films offered lots of scope for Trisha to excel as a central character. Especially, ‘Nayaki’ and ‘Aranmanai 2’ are horror-thrillers wherein the talented actress is trying to prove herself. Heroine centered movies are off late received very well by South audience and Trisha can be obviously the latest addition after Anushka, Charmi and Nayanathara.

Is That The Reason Behind Sarika’s Death?

Share

sarika

The mysterious death of Ex Warangal MP Siricilla Rajaiah’s daughter-in-law Sarika and her three sons has devastated the hearts of many in the Telugu states. Sarika was burnt to death along with her children due to the gas leak from the domestic cylinders in her bedroom. This naturally led to several doubts and cops are investigating the case in several angles.

It is well known that Sarika had been on a long tussle with her husband and in-laws following her husband deserting her and marrying another woman named Sana. The victim even wrote to several senior leaders in the Congress party against Rajaiah’ ill treatment towards her and her children. Even in the evening before the fateful night, there was apparently a huge argument between Sarika and Rajaiah over the house in which Sarika was residing.

Apparently, this house was owned by Rajaiah and it is his lucky building. Rajaiah was on the verge of getting the party’s ticket to contest for the Warangal by-elections and he planned to use Sarika’s house to carry out the party related activities and even to lodge the cadres. This led to a huge fight between Sarika and Rajaiah a day ago, which ended with the mysterious death of Sarika and the kids.

Police are investigating in the angle whether Sarika committed suicide in a fit of rage after being hurt with her father-in-law asking her to vacate the house or if there was a plot by someone to get Sarika killed.
