After the summer season has been kick-started in style with the blockbuster success of Allu Arjun’s latest hit S/O Satyamurthy, the summer only seems to be getting more exciting for Tollywood starting this 24th. This 24th, Akkineni Naga Chaitanya’s upcoming action thriller Dohchay is releasing amidst heavy expectations.

Yesterday, the film has been cleared by the censor board with a clean U certificate. This immediately gave the trade a huge sigh of relief since a U certificate means a huge patronage from the family audiences, which in turn results in heavy collections. Incidentally, Bunny’s S/O Satyamurthy was certified U/A and we all know the result of the film.

What is a much bigger achievement is that the censor members did not even ask for a single cut in the film, which means that the film has been shaped up as a full fledged family entertainer. Already, the film’s stylish song teaser and an amazing theatrical trailer have impressed the fans and movie lovers who have been eagerly awaiting the film’s release. If the film lives upto the positive buzz it generated, we can be sure that yet another blockbuster is awaiting Tollywood.

Star kids following their parents’ footsteps is nothing new in Tollywood. Many star kids made successful debuts on Telugu silver screen and are ruling the hearts of millions of their parents’ fans and even have their own fan following. The latest kid on the block is Akash Puri, the son of maverick director Puri Jagannadh.

After appearing in several hit films as a child actor, Akash is finally making his debut as a hero in the teenage romantic drama Andhra Pori. Andhra Pori is an official remake of Marathi film Timepass. However, not many know that Timepass is the biggest ever hit in the history of Marathi cinema. Made with a budget of just 2 crores, the film went on to collect more than 33 crores and smashed all the existing box office records by a huge margin.

This clearly explains Puri’s knack of choosing the right launch pad for his son’s debut. Since the film will be releasing in the 2nd week of May, one can expect it to collect big cashing in on the holiday season. The film is produced by the legendary production house, Prasad Productions.

Instead of the original film’s love story between the lower cast boy and upper caste girl in the Marathi original, the Telugu version will have Akash playing a Telangana boy and Ulka Gupta plays an Andhra girl, making enough room for regional conflict making things more interesting.

Actor-filmmaker Raghava Lawrencce’s latest Tamil horror-comedy “Kanchana 2” has grossed a whopping Rs.10.83 crore in the first two days in Tamil Nadu since its release on Friday.

“The movie has registered a phenomenal opening of Rs.10.83 crore in two days since its release in Tamil Nadu. At this rate, it’s sure to set record opening weekend collections at the ticket window,” trade analyst Trinath told IANS.

Directed by Lawrencce, the film is part of the highly successful “Kanchana” franchise, which opened the floodgates to several horror-comedies in Tamil cinema over the years.

“Kanchana 2” also features Taapsee Pannu, Nitya Menen and Kovai Sarla in important roles.

Lawrencce has also hinted that “Kanchana 3” is in the offing.

Kannada actress Nikita Thukral has been roped in for a special folk number in Vishal Krishna Reddy-starrer Tamil actioner “Paayam Puli”.

“We recently shot a special folk number with Nikita. It has come out very well. To shoot the song, a market set was erected,” the film’s director Suseenthiran told IANS.

Nikita is most popular for her item number in “Saroja” in Tamil cinema.

Also starring Kajal Aggarwal and Aishwarya Dutta, the film features Vishal in the role of a policeman.

Said to be inspired by real events, “Paayam Puli” is set against the backdrop of Madurai.

Mass Maharaja Raviteja’s Kick-2 is being readied for Summer Release. The first look teaser released few months ago had set good expectations on the film. On the other side, Raviteja was not happy with the output of some of the scenes in the film and asked the makers to come up with few reshoots for better results. Accordingly, few comedy scenes were reshot recently.

The makers have already lapsed Rakul Preet Singh’s dates for the film and so they have to pay some extra amount for her dates for these reshoots. This is the biggest budget film ever in Raviteja’s career.

Surrender Reddy is wielding megaphone for this project. Nandamuri Kalyan Ram is producing the film on his NTR Arts banner. This is his first production with a hero other than himself. Thaman who made his debut as Music director in Telugu with Kick, is composing music for Kick-2 as well.

Our readers are aware that director Teja’s decision of using all Telangana cast and crew from the newly formed Telangana Film Employees Federation for his next, Hora Hori did not go well with AP Film Employees Union. The movie is currently being shot in Vishakapatnam.

On Friday, 20 members of AP Film Employees Union barged in to the set and disrupted the film shooting. Police had to intervene and set right the situation. Teja complained to police about the nuisance and got the miscreants arrested.

Later they were release on the guarantee that they will not once again try to disrupt the movie shooting. It is also learnt that the workers warned Teja of further issues once he returns to Hyderabad.

All the buyers and distributors of the movie will be heading to profits in the first week itself making the movie a blockbuster.

Dil Raju got the Telugu rights of the film for 4 crore (Non Refundable Advance). The movie costed him 5-5.5 Crore with publicity. The satellite rights of the film already got 2.5 Crore leaving the movie to collect 3-4 Crore from theatrical collections to be a safe venture. According to the latest trends, the movie will become breakeven with the collections of Telangana and Overseas itself.

Whatever they get from remaining areas will a profit. Given the trends, Dil Raju is expected to get a minimum of 100% profits, this will make Ok Bangaram as one of the biggest hits of the year in terms of return on investment.

It seems when the police halted the car, Manchu Manoj co-operated with him very friendly and he consumed alcohol only in limits.

The police said that Manchu Manoj was not driving the car, while he was just beside his driver. However, other details were not exactly known. The actor is now elated to be engaged with the love of his life Pranitha Reddy and will be in wedlock on 20 May noted to be Manchu Manoj’s birthday.
