Naga Chaitanya and Akhil Akkineni have managed to revive their box office fortunes in the Telugu states with their recent releases, but the North American market continues to remain a challenging territory for both actors.

Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel turned out to be a commercial success in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, receiving a positive response from the domestic audience. However, despite its strong performance in the Telugu states, the film could not achieve the much-talked-about $1 million milestone in North America, finishing its theatrical run below that mark.

Akhil Akkineni experienced a similar outcome with Lenin. The film provided him with a much-needed commercial success after a string of setbacks and performed well in the Telugu-speaking regions. Nevertheless, its overseas collections have been comparatively modest.

According to trade estimates, Lenin is expected to conclude its North American run with a lifetime gross of just over $800,000, falling short of the prestigious $1 million benchmark.

Although Thandel and Lenin have helped the Akkineni brothers regain confidence and strengthen their standing at the domestic box office, their performances overseas underline an area that still needs improvement. The North American market has long been a key indicator of a Telugu film’s global appeal, and crossing the $1 million mark continues to be considered a significant achievement for leading stars.
