Top 5: Vijay Deverakonda’s Publicity Gimmick Didn’t Work
1) Khaidi: Karthi’s high-octane action ride Khaidi is making merry in Telugu markets. The film had a fabulous second weekend to bring handsome profits to all parties involved.
It dominated the box office in its second weekend despite new releases. It has turned out to be a smash hit in Tamilnadu as well.
The makers of Khaidi took a gamble by releasing it against a biggie Bigil and it paid off.
2) Meeku Matrame Chepta: Vijay Deverakonda strongly believes in promoting movies in an aggressive fashion.
He has done terrific promotions for his maiden production Meeku Matrame Chepta too. But publicity gimmicks wouldn’t make a film work all the time.
He should see that there is solid content in his films before hitting the road for promoting his stuff.
3) Whistle: This film was largely benefitted by Diwali weekend has turned out to be the highest grossing movie for Vijay in Telugu States.
The film is more or less a safe venture for everyone involved. Buyers from a couple of areas in Andhra are yet to breakeven though.
4) Terminator: Dark Fate: The new addition to Terminator franchise has grabbed the attention of action fans and did fairly well in its first weekend across the multiplexes.
5) Aaviri: Ravi Babu’s disastrous streak at the ticket windows continued with Aaviri. Including Dil Raju’s name in the posters didn’t fool the audience to watch his insipid horror film.
Ravi Babu’s minimalistic production design isn’t going to save a lacklustre script.
Tollywood’s BB and BB winner share same B’days
Finally, Bigg Boss rumours have turned out to be true. Yes, Telangana singer Rahul Sipligunj is season 3 winner and renowned anchor Sreemukhi is the runner up. The joy and happiness for Rahul fans have no limit and people are literally celebrating the grand moment. Rahul also won people’s hearts with his existence in the house for nearly 105 days.
Megastar Chiranjeevi, who graced the finale as a special final guest and announced the winner, made the show a bit more vibrant and exciting with his presence. One amazing or say, a coincidental thing that we observe is, Rahul and Chiru share the same birthdays. That is, Chiru was born on Aug 22, 1955, and Rahul too was born on AUG 22, 1989. Int it amazing to know this?!
Well, Chiranjeevi looked smashing and dashing in ethnic wear and he is not only our megastar but also a big boss to the whole Tollywood industry. On the other hand, Rahul won the Bigg Boss 3 title, keeping the spirit high among locals.
Show Cause Notice To AP CM Jagan’s Secretary

Andhra Pradesh has witnessed yet another unprecedented incident in the political history. First of its kind in India, the principal secretary of a Chief Minister has been issued show cause notice. And the notice is issued by none other than the Chief Secretary (CS) of Andhra Pradesh. CS LV Subramanyam has issued show cause notice to CM Jagan’s principal secretary and GAD (General Administration) principal secretary Praveen Prakash.
This is after Praveen reportedly violated the powers of his position and over-stepped into the powers of Chief Secretary. Without procuring approvals from Governor and Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Praveen Prakash has issued orders amending Business Rules.
GAD principal secy has issued orders even to Special CS-level officials. This has sent wrong signals in bureaucrat circles. Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam is said to be happy over the development as he felt that this is violation of Business Rules.
Since Praveen Prakash works with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, many in secretariat had thought it wouldn’t be easy to take action on him. Even before CS came to terms with the amendment of Business Rules, GAD principla secy Praveen has reportedly issued yet another GO indicating that he has powers to transfer Assistant Secretaries as well. This has further upset the CS LV Subramanyam.
Meanwhile, it is also rumoured that Principal Secretary hasn’t followed norms during sending files to cabinet meeting. These have irked Chief Secretary. With this, CS served Show Cause notice to Praveen Prakash for ‘different’ mistake.
Praveen is allegedly passing files without routing through Chief Secretary. He also reportedly not following usual process laid down for sending files to cabinet meetings. Finally, CS has cracked the whip against principal secretary Praveen.
This is expected to create a conflict within chief administration in AP Secretariat. CM Jagan has specially got Praveen Prakash from New Delhi to Amaravati who was earlier serving as the Resident Commissioner at AP Bhavan in Delhi.
More details are awaited. Praveen Prakash is yet to respond to the show cause notice sent to him.
#BiggBoss3: Two Women Behind Rahul’s Success

There is a famous adage in Telugu, “Prathi Magadi Vijayam Venuka Oka Sthree Vuntund” which translates into “Behind every successful man there is a woman”. And this is no false in the case of Bigg Boss Telugu season 3 winner Rahul Sipligunj.
Punarnavi Bhupalam has helped Rahul gain a lot of popularity. Especially among youth, Rahul scored points by flirting with Punarnavi and Punarnavi’s reciprocation to an extent has turned heads of audience towards Rahul. Punarnavi did help in a way to get attention to Rahul.
And no prizes for guessing the second woman behind Rahul’s Bigg Boss 3 success. It is none other than Sreemukhi. By repeatedly targeting Rahul, Sreemukhi has made Rahul a serious contestant. By stating that she would continue to ruminate Rahul for elimination till he leaves the house, Sreemukhi in a way has given unwanted significance to Rahul.
Rahul, who underwent 11 nominations out of 14 total nominations, highest among Bigg Boss 3 contestants, has garnered a sympathy among common audience. And by bouncing back every time he was nominated, Rahul came out stronger. All these have helped Rahul to reach finals and thus clinch the title.
With this, the two women behind Rahul’s Bigg Boss victory are Punarnavi and Sreemukhi. Rahul is indebted to these two women for his win.
Babu – Hero To Zero!

Filmmaker Ravi Babu was once known for bringing out unknown talent to fore and making sensible films in limited budget and delivering success. With shoe-string budget films, he has made technically rich films and impressed audience and critics alike with thriller and comedy genres.
Starting from youthful comedy Allari to Nuvvila to Anasuya to Nachavule to Avunu, Ravi Babu did deliver good films. But that phase of Ravi Babu is passe.
Ravi Babu’s latest film Aaviri has turned out to be a damp squib and the filmmaker has proved how desperate he had become to churn out a film which was rehash of his previous films of the genre. With a wafer-thin plot, Aaviri has a pretty predictable story and dated narration.
Ravi Babu has failed to thrill audience with Aaviri. Babu’s last hit was Avunu in 2012. His last four films – Laddu Babu, Avunu 2, Adhugo and latest Aaviri – has failed miserably.
From a ‘Hero’ in low-budget films, he has dropped down the ladder to a ‘Zero’. No wonder, he lost backing of his partner Suresh Babu. Hope, Ravi Babu, bounces back soon.
Top Producer Behind Young Hero’s Production

Young hero’s maiden production venture has become talking point. Although the young hero has no knowledge in film production and film business, the over-enthusiastic star has tried his hand at the production. And naturally, he has faced several odds while doing business of the film.
And he finally took the help of a top producer with whom he had worked in the past. The top producer and his production house has good equation with some distributors and media houses. He intervened and ensured that the film’s satellite business is sold even before film’s release.
Only upon the production house’s request, the media house has bought the film’s satellite and digital rights at a very nominal price. Since the movie is made with less budget, the hero is happy to make money even before theatrical release.
With the backing of the production house, the young hero is safe with his debut production. That’s the story folks!

TDP Weighing On Avinash or Anuradha?

With Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan firm on leaving the TDP, the leadership is desperately looking for a replacement in Gannavaram Assembly constituency.
The party had initially decided to send Gadde Anurandha to Gannavaram. Anuradha, wife of Gadde Ramamohan, was the former chairperson of the Krishna ZP and is an active leader with greater following for the family in Gannavaram.
Her husband, Ramamohan was elected to the Assembly once in 1994 as Independent and had subsequently joined the TDP.
Later he was elected to the Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency in 1999 and then moved to Vijayawada East Assembly constituency and the lost the 2009 elections to the Praja Rajyam Party. Since then, he is staying there and had won the 2014 and 2019 elections.
The family has strong support base in the Gannavaram Assembly constituency, and the TDP is actively considering his wife’s candidature for a replacement to Vamsi Mohan.
Meanwhile, there are also suggestions to the party leadership to send Telugu Yuvatha State president Devineni Avinash to Gannavaram.
Avinash, the son of former minister Devineni Nehru, lost the 2019 general elections at Gudivada and is now in the air after the defeat.
Avinash is asking the leadership to make him Vijayawada East Assembly segment and send Gadde family to Gannavaram.
However, as Ramamohan is the sitting MLA from Vijayawada East, the party wants to send Avinash to Gannavaram rather than shifting the sitting MLA.
But, Avinash is not in favour of moving to Gannavaram, making the leadership to have second thoughts on sending the Gadde family.

McDonald’s ousts CEO for dating employee
New York: McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook has been fired for violating company policy by having a relationship with an unidentified employee, the company said.
The US fast-food giant on Sunday said Steve Easterbrook “demonstrated poor judgment”, since the company prohibits senior management from having relationships with other workers, whether they are under their direct supervision or not, Efe news reported.
According to MarketWatch, Easterbrook sent an e-mail with a memo to employees acknowledging the relationship and said it was a mistake.
“Given the values of the company, I agree with the board that it is time for me to move on,” he said in the letter.
McDonald’s said it voted to approve Easterbrook’s departure last Friday after conducting a thorough analysis of the situation, while the compensation’s payment details will be known on Monday after the submission of documents to federal authorities.
After Easterbrook’s dismissal, McDonald’s board appointed Chris Kempczinski, who until now headed McDonald’s USA and will take up his new position immediately as the new president and CEO.
Kempczinski was one of the key figures in the development of McDonald’s strategic plan and has overseen the most comprehensive transformation of the company in the US in the history of the fast-food chain, the company’s chairman, Enrique Hernandez, said in a statement.
“Steve brought me into McDonald’s and he was a patient and helpful mentor,” the new CEO said about Easterbrook.
The 52-year-old former CEO had led McDonald’s since March 2015. During his tenure, the company’s shares nearly doubled in value but traffic to US restaurants has continued to stagnate.
McDonald’s is reckoning with challenges reverberating throughout the food industry from meat producers to supermarkets as consumers switch to products that they view as more healthful and big companies sacrifice profit for technological upgrades and delivery.
McDonald’s has invested in updating its sandwiches and renovating its restaurants to keep up with those changes, but paid a price in profits. And US franchisees have balked at mandated investments in digital-ordering kiosks and new menu items like fresh-beef burgers. Franchisees started an independent association last year to push back against some of Easterbrook’s changes.
Easterbrook said earlier this year that he and other top executives, including Kempczinski, had been talking to franchisees in light of their concerns and had pushed back the timeline for owners making some capital investments as a result.
“Wouldn’t life be great if everyone was happy? Of course,” Easterbrook told investors. “Am I fundamentally concerned that it will derail us from the shared vision that we have? No, not at all.”
Easterbrook also rolled back offerings including premium burgers and parts of an all-day breakfast menu after they slowed down restaurant operations. Wait-times at McDonald’s drive-thrus have climbed in recent years as the company’s menu became increasingly complex.
Kempczinski, who helped implement many of the recent changes as head of US operations, said he would maintain Easterbrook’s focus on technology as CEO and believes the company’s investments will pay off.
“There isn’t going to be some radical, strategic shift. The plan is working,” Kempczinski said in an interview on Sunday.
Kempczinski said investors should feel confident in the succession and that he intends to listen to consumers. He also said he looked forward to continuing to discuss concerns with franchisees. “It’s something we need to solve together,” said Kempczinski, who will also join McDonald’s board.
McDonald’s said Joe Erlinger, most recently president of international operated markets, is succeeding Kempczinski to oversee McDonald’s roughly 14,000 domestic restaurants.
McDonald’s shares, up 9 percent this year, have trailed the broader S&P index tracking restaurants in that period, including other fast-food peers such as Wendy’s and Restaurant Brands International.
McDonald’s faces more challenges at the US restaurants that drives its sales. Labor organisers and some lawmakers have called on the company to address workplace harassment issues and raise its minimum wage to $15 an hour.
This year, McDonald’s strengthened workplace training and protocol for reporting potential employee misconduct. Kempczinski said the company had a responsibility to address workplace well-being. The company said this year that it would stop lobbying against federal minimum wage increases, and that it recognizes the rights of its employees to join labor organisations.
The company said details of Kempczinski’s and Easterbrook’s pay would be disclosed in a filing by Tuesday.
Easterbrook, who is divorced, had a long career at McDonald’s. Before becoming CEO, he worked as head of the company’s United Kingdom business, which he helped return to growth by modernizing its restaurants, revamping the menu and portraying McDonald’s as environmentally friendly e tactics he later employed at the company more broadly.
Easterbrook, who was born in Watford, England, was the second non-American to lead the company, after the late Charlie Bell of Australia.
Easterbrook left McDonald’s in 2011 to become CEO of Britain’s PizzaExpress and then Japanese-style noodle bar chain Wagamama. Two years later he returned, eventually becoming McDonald’s global chief brand officer.
Within months of becoming CEO, he enacted several changes, including committing to switch to cage-free eggs, antibiotic-free chicken and hormone-free milk; raising workers’ pay above minimum wage and giving different geographic markets more control over the menu.
His pay as CEO rose with McDonald’s share price, which closed Friday at $194. His compensation peaked in 2017 at a total of $21.8 million including $9.1 million in incentive-based pay. He received $15.9 million in total compensation last year. He also sits on the board of Walmart.
Street-Smart Rahul Takes Away The Bigg Boss Title
Singer Rahul Sipligunj, the Dhoolpet boy took away the Bigg Boss Season 3 title and the most popular and most followed contestant of all Srimukhi stood runner up.
Megastar Chiranjeevi presented the title trophy and Rs. 50 lakh cheque for the winner Rahul on the Grand Finale stage.
Rahul was considered as one of the weakest contestants in the initial stages of the show. But he slowly gained mileage and used it to his advantage with his street-smart play.
He might seem a bit lazy when it comes to playing tasks, but Rahul has played mind games at key junctures and made sure that he keeps his fan following intact.
Srimukhi made it easy for Rahul Sipligunj by targeting him in multiple instances and the over-biased approach of Bigg Boss directors towards Srimukhi also consolidated the anti-Srimukhi vote in Rahul’s favor.
Rahul has sensed that his relationship with Punarnavi was fetching him votes and he used it to his advantage.
Rahul is smart enough to realize that his vote is likely to be shared by Varun Sandesh and maintained distance from him during the final stages of the show.
Bigg Boss tried various tricks to bring down Rahul’s popularity, but it is hard to pull down anybody who finds an emotional connect with the audience.
