Telangana Rashtra Samithi is not averse to joining hands with the Congress party, provided its president Rahul Gandhi opts out of the race for Prime Minister post.
This is the latest theory being proposed by TRS president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
“As long as the Congress party does not want to be in the driver’s seat, we don’t mind working with it in the post-poll scenario,” senior TRS leader Abid Rasool Khan told a news agency.
He said the federal front would from the next government and the Congress will have to support it from outside.
“Only on this condition, our party is ready to do business with Rahul Gandhi-led Congress,” he said.
“The government would be of the federal front and Congress will have to extend support from outside. We are very firm that regional parties should be in the driver’s seat. The Prime Minister’s post should go to one of the constituents of the Federal Front. The prime ministerial candidate will be a consensus candidate from among the constituents (of the Federal Front)”, Khan said.
“We are open to talk to them (Congress), and see whether they support us to form government. If they do, regional parties are not averse as long as they (Congress) don’t come into the driver’s seat”, he said.
However, the proposed Federal Front is not going to align in any way with the BJP, Khan said.
“We are averse to the BJP. We do not want to have anything with the BJP, neither to support them or take their support. Most of the constituents speaking with KCR are also of the same opinion that they will not have any truck with the BJP,” he said.
New Delhi: In a move clearly aimed at strengthening opposition unity and to checkmate the Narendra Modi-led NDA, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has written to all UPA allies and non-NDA parties namely the BJD, the YSR Congress, the TRS and the TD inviting them for a meeting on May 23 to discuss the future course of action.
The meeting, which has been called on the day when the Lok Sabha election results are to be announced, holds significance as sources point out that the message sent out by Ms Gandhi is that all UPA and non-NDA parties need to rally together after the verdict.
With the UPA chairperson personally writing to all UPA allies and non-NDA parties, the meeting could discuss the roadmap for the future political course of action, in case the final numbers are not in favour of the NDA.
While the UPA allies are on board, sources said that special efforts have been made to bring on board the non-NDA entities like the BJD, YSR Congress and the TRS for the proposed meeting.
When Mr Rao met M.K. Stalin in Chennai on Monday, the DMK chief reportedly explained his party’s firm stand against the BJP and suggested that instead the Talangana Chief Minister should support the UPA to form government at the Centre.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath is learnt to have personally spoken to his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik, requesting him to attend the May 23 meeting. Both the leaders have known each other personally. Mr Modi’s recent meeting with Mr Patnaik after both of them conducted the aerial survey of the cyclone-affected regions of Odisha, had given a lot of grist to speculations regarding the BJP sending signals to the BJD in case there is a case of an alliance after the results. Ms Gandhi’s outreach to the Odisha Chief Minister therefore, holds a lot of significance.
Whether Mr Patnaik attends the May 23 meeting, along with YSR Congress’ Jagan Mohan Reddy and TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao, would depend entirely on the poll results.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu termed Congress president Rahul Gandhi a “good leader who has concerns for the nation” and asserted that unlike 1996, non-BJP parties won’t commit the mistake of keeping the Congress out if such an alliance forms a government at the Centre.

YSR Congress party on Tuesday challenged Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to declare the exit poll survey commissioned by him on the evening of May 19.
YSRC Congress general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy asserted that the TDP would disappear into the history soon and YSRC is going to emerge as the face of the future.
“Instead of blowing your trumpet saying all surveys are predicting the TDP victory, disclose your survey results on May 19 and compare them with the May 23 results,” he said.
Reddy said Naidu was scared of the results and the debacle in the making was known to him much earlier which was manifested in his incoherent statements and knee-jerk reactions.
“The buying of 23 legislators and picking up quarrels with various institutions to project himself as a national leader— all stem from the fear of being reduced to non-entity in a short span of time,” he said.
He said YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had made just one statement saying the party would get landslide victory and there ended the matter.
“With the long experience in public life Chandrababu lacks the grace and has been talking every day of the results only to keep his flock together as he senses everyone would desert him and TDP would be history and its 40-year story would come to an end,” he said.
He wondered why Naidu was conducting constituency-wise reviews now.
“Normally reviews are done after the results are announced but here is TDP which is making reviews as a continuous process even before the results are announced. This is an exercise only to give his cadre the false impression that people still have faith in the party,” he said.

But it’s an open secret that all candidates from major parties spent a minimum of Rs 10 crore and maximum of Rs 50 crore and above for all the seats.
Money was spent like water towards cash distribution to voters, distribution of liquor, freebies like saris, gold coins, silver coins, sports kits, two-wheelers, grinders, and what not.
The Election Commission was shocked to see the expenditure statements submitted by candidates.
Pawan Kalyan’s expenditure statement to Election Commission shows that he had spent just Rs 8 lakh for Gajuwaka Assembly seat. Pawan stated that he had spent Rs 8,39,790.
That mean, Pawan Kalyan could not spent even the maximum limit of Rs 28 lakh expenditure prescribed by EC.
The EC is all set to issue notice to Pawan Kalyan on deflating his expenses because the expenditure surveillance teams deployed by Election Commission detected that Pawan had spent a huge amount which was several times higher than what he had shown to EC.

Reacting on the same, Mahesh Babu tweeted back, “Sir.. This is such an honour for me personally & our whole team… it can’t get better than this. Thank you Sir, your words have inspired us to keep doing more films like “Maharshi”.. on behalf of Team Maharshi… humbled, Sir (sic)”.
After making a hue and cry over the alleged highhanded behaviour of the Election Commission for not allowing him to hold official meetings, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu finally held the cabinet meeting on Tuesday, after getting the official nod from the EC.
But what did Naidu achieve from the meeting, after all? The answer is nothing.
According to sources, it was more or less like a send-off meeting for Naidu and all the officials had a hearty talk with him during the two-hour long meeting.
Of course, the officials made routine presentations on issues like drinking water crisis in the state, drought conditions, employment generation programmes and impact of Fani cyclone.
And Naidu as usual gave routine instructions to ensure that people were not put to inconvenience.
He also used the opportunity to express his helplessness for not doing any work due to model code of conduct. Occasionally, he said: “good, good” and “good job. I appreciate you.”
Since there are no way Naidu could approve any financial releases, it was a routine official meeting, rather than a regular cabinet meeting where policy decisions are taken. There was not much discussion on any of the subject.
The highlight of the cabinet meeting was exchange of pleasantries between Naidu and Chief Secretary L V Subrahmanyam, who had not been getting along well with the former for quite some time.
Both of them were seen talking to each other and laughing heartily, as if they patched up their differences.
All the officials of the departments concerned and Naidu’s cabinet colleagues took part in the meeting.
The chief minister has thanked the officials for cooperating with him in the last five years and hoped that he would work together with them for another five years.

With less than 10 days to go for the poll results, the tide of Indian politics is flowing in multiple directions. In a high-stakes game, both BJP and anti-BJP groups have involved in a serious business to weave an appropriate team ahead of results. But, the differences between two Telugu Chief Ministers (KCR and Nara Chandrababu Naidu) is catching everyone’s attention.
KCR, who began to extensively concentrate on national politics from last year, was one of the first politicians to speak about anti-BJP, anti-Congress government at the Centre, and referred it as ‘Federal Front’ – which is highly uncertain now. As part of ‘Federal Front’ plan, he reached out to some of the major regional party heads in the nation – West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik. Freshly, after the polls, he knocked the doors of Kerala CM Vijayan and DMK Chief Stalin.
Having taken a keen observation at poll trends, KCR seems to be leaning towards Congress by meetings its allies. But, there’s a catch here. Most of the leaders, who KCR reached out to, are in good equation with AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and they reiterated their loyalties to him even after meeting KCR.
Going back to December 2018, a day after KCR met Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneshwar, he sent an official letter to Naidu with his party MP Soumya Ranjan Patnaik. The letter carried a clear support to Naidu and to the anti-BJP government in Delhi. Later, Mamata Banerjee too casted off KCR’s invitation for the ‘Federal Front’. In fact, she was never gravitated to KCR’s call. They always were suspecting that KCR’s efforts for Federal Front were only to rescue Narendra Modi and bring him back to power. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was successful in establishing his pitch and made right moves to isolate the efforts of KCR.
Now, in less than 24 hours after his meeting with KCR, DMK chief Stalin too made his party senior Durai Murugan to drop at Naidu’s office in Amaravati on Tuesday. Political reports are indicating that Murugan summarized the KCR-Stalin meeting details to Babu. Stalin, reportedly, turned down KCR’s request to take a stand against both Congress and BJP. In fact, the DMK chief was never ready to drop out of UPA.
Apparently, a top TV channel that is in the news recently for its dabbling of directors, has today got nailed by Allu Arjun’s fans for their logic-less satire on the star hero. In no time, the channel has not only deleted those tweets but also removed that video from their social media page.
