Much before Venkata Ramana Reddy became a star producer named Dil Raju, she is a happening and star heroine. Much before Venu Sriram joined as an assistant director for Arya movie, she’s a leading lady in Tollywood. But still, she knows what it means to give respect.
We are talking about former heroine Bhumika (original name Rachana Chawla) who rose to the top with her 2001 super hit film “Kushi”, the third film of her career. By the time Raju made Dil in 2003, she’s already a hit heroine. Still, she addressed the producer as ‘Raju sir’ at ‘super sixes’ function of Dil Raju that took place other day.
What’s more surprising is that she addressed even director Venu Sriram as ‘Venu Sir’ and that explains one thing. No matter whether someone is a star heroine or not, they should give a great deal of respect to the pillars of a film, including producer and director.
These are the days where we have heroines who score a blockbuster with just one film and then showcase their tantrums and weight all the way around. Definitely, Bhumika’s down to earth nature and the way she respects others is a lesson for them to learn.
The unit of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s ambitious magnum opus ‘Sye Raa’, which has commenced the shooting earlier this month, has taken a long
Team Sye Raa has recently completed the film’s first schedule. A fantastic action sequence was canned during this schedule. The unit will reassemble only after enjoying New Year celebrations and Sankranthi festivities. The exact date of commencement of next schedule will be locked by director Surender Reddy after getting confirmation from Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi who are expected to be part of next schedule.
Meanwhile, coming Sankranthi is going to be very special for Mega fans since besides the release of Pawan Kalyan’s “Agnyaathavaasi”, the teaser of Ram Charan’s “Rangasthalam’ is also likely to be unveiled.
Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan sang a song to wish Salman Khan in advance for his birthday and said he loved watching the latter’s latest movie “Tiger Zinda Hai”.
During a media interaction on Tuesday, while asked if he wants to send a birthday wish to his friend and colleague Salman who is turning 51 on Wednesday, Shah Rukh replied singing: “Tum jio hazaaron saal I… wish him all the best. I won’t be able to meet him tomorrow because my children are here and I want to spend time with them. But we will celebrate when he comes back. We can celebrate Salman Khan’s birthday month long!”
Asked about his favourite films of this year, Shah Rukh said: “Well, I watched some of the films and I really enjoyed them. I watched ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, ‘Newton’, ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and I liked them.”
The actor was present here during the announcement of the 63rd Filmfare Awards along with the editor of the Filmfare, Jitesh Pillai.
The 63rd Filmfare Awards will be held on January 20.
Venkatesh earned the tag of ‘victory’ after scoring some mega hits even with remake films. At a time when many heroes are falling flat with remakes, he went on scoring super hits.
A couple of weeks ago, Venky is said to have expressed interest to star in the remake of “Vikram Vedha” but the idea is being reconsidered now. Actually, this film is a super hit in Tamil with Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi nailing with their performance. However, the character of Vijay Sethupathi hails from slums and that typical rural mass setup is reflected in every single frame.
Venky is thinking that earlier he has tried to emulate similar mass Tamil setup with “Gemini” movie but that didn’t work at box office. That film stands as one of the biggest flops of his career and still haunts him. For that reason, he’s said to be in a confusion whether to take up Vikram Vedha or not.
On the other hand, makers of the original version of Vikram Vedha are said to be in talks with Nagarjuna as well for the project. Also, they are said to asking Madhavan if he would reprise his role again for Telugu version.
The expectations on Natural star Nani’s debut production venture ‘Awe’ are heightening with the introduction of each new character in the film. After unveiling multiple talented actors essaying interesting roles, the makers have now unveiled probably the most evil character in the film.
Noted actor Murali Sharma has been introduced as the ‘narcissistic bully’. His intriguing look makes audience wonder what sort of evil character he might be playing in the film. Sharma has earlier shared screen space with Nani in BBM and Ninnu Kori, he essayed the character of heroine’s father in both films. In Awe however, the duo won’t act together since Nani is only lending his voice to the ‘fish’ character.
While Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu came to power in 2014 elections riding on the election promise of waiving all crop loans along with interest, his rival YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is hoping to cash in on the promise of waiver of loan arrears of self-help women groups.
Interacting with women groups as part of padayatra in Anantapur district, Jagan assured that all loans of women groups would be waived in a phased manner and would make them eligible for zero percent interest bank loans.
“Once I come to power with your blessings, I will take the responsibility of getting your loans waived and see to it that banks would again put your groups on active list besides reviving interest free loans to women groups,” he said.
He said the law and order situation had worsened in the TDP regime and there had been no protection to women as the atrocities are on the rise and the predators are being protected by the leadership itself.
When a Dalit woman was disrobed, the chief minister had shown his indifference, so was the case when a woman official was assaulted by a TDP leader and a student committed suicide in the University, he alleged.
All DWACRA loans would be waived in a phased manner which would enable the groups to apply for fresh loans and the interest free loan scheme would be revived, he said.
There are a handful of films that had set the cash registers ringing in 2017, but the flop rate is even bigger with many films turning out to be box office turkeys.
There are nearly twenty five big flops that had left their makers and buyers in dire straits.
We are listing out the top 10 commercial disasters of the year.
1) Spyder: No other big budget film had bombed as big as Spyder this year. It is the only film from a top star to tank at the box office.
Mahesh Babu teaming up with Murugadoss has set high expectations on Spyder, but the film terribly failed in living up to them.
The film was sold for huge rates considering the combination craze and couldn’t even recover half of the buyers investment.
It is the biggest flop in the history in terms of the amount of loss (nearly Rs. 60 crore).
2) Nakshatram: This got to be the most torturous experience that viewers has had at the cinemas this year.
Krishnavamsi has made some disastrous films in the past, but Nakshatram has set the bar high in terms of horrendous filmmaking.
No wonder the film couldn’t even recover quarter of the buyers investment from theatrical revenues.
If not for the losses incurred on Spyder, this film has every reason to be crowned as the disastrous film of the year.
3) Mister: Oh my Srinu Vaitla! The director who was known for delivering box office blockbusters is having a nightmarish run at the box office lately.
After the duds like Aagadu and Bruce Lee, the star director has hit a new low with Mister.
Thanks to Fidaa for reviving Varun Tej’s career immediately or else Mister would have put the young actor’s career in doldrums.
4) Om Namo Venkatesaya: There’s not much wrong with the film. Maybe it is tad outdated for the tastes of this generation’s audience. Or maybe it looked like a rehash of classic Annamayya.
Not even the devotees of Lord Venkateswara have shown interest in watching this film from the team Annamayya. It ended up as one of the biggest commercial flops of the year.
Even Nagarjuna’s recent track record couldn’t save it.
5) Lie: Having immense confidence in one’s own product is not wrong, but the makers should make sure to time the release perfectly. Pitting a class action movie against two mass movies like Nene Raju and Jaya Janaki proved costly for Lie.
It was a nightmare for its buyers as it failed to make an impression in A centers and overseas too.
6) Oxygen: Gopichand also wasn’t much interested in the outcome of the film. He didn’t even finish the dubbing part and left the last shot of the film to be shot with a dupe.
When the lead actor himself is not bothered about a film then the result wouldn’t be anything less than a disaster.
Oxygen is one of the biggest flops of the year thanks to the atrocious direction of Jyothi Krishna.
7) Winner: Sai Dharam Tej has clearly lost the plot. He was on course for becoming the most bankable actors in the mid table, but has made some ridiculous choices of late.
Winner turned out to be a loser in each and every way making it a forgettable year for the megastar’s nephew.
8) Ungarala Rambabu: No wonder Sunil decided to switch back to playing comedy roles after this film.
The star comedian turned hero failed to gauge the real strength of his as a leading man and made silly choices to lose his ground totally.
Ungarala Rambabu is one of the most insensible films of the year.
9) Paisa Vasool: Puri Jagannadh teaming up with Balakrishna raised high expectations, but Paisa Vasool turned out to be yet another script-less gimmicky from the maverick director.
The film did open on a high note but fizzled out in no time. It ended up in heavy losses despite the strong start.
10) Yuddham Sharanam: Naga Chaitanya has been making attempts to shed his lover boy image from a longtime. But his experiments are not yielding desired results. Yuddham Sharanam had sunk without a trace.
There are many more big flops and zero impact movies that didn’t make it to the final 10.
Movies like Patel Sir, Goutham Nanda, Dwaraka, Gunturodu, Jaya Janaki Nayaka, Katamarayudu, Rogue, Babu Baga Busy, Fashion Designer, Kathalo Rajakumari, Srivalli, Vunnadi Okate Zindagi, C/o Surya, Angel, Balakrishnudu, Jawaan etc. have left huge hole in the pockets of their buyers.
That power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan does not show the same kind of aggression, which he displays while addressing public, in questioning Telugu Desam Party government headed by N Chandrababu Naidu was once again evident in his series of tweets on Kadapa Fatima Medical College students’ issue.
In his tweets, Pawan expressed a lot of anguish and anger at the way the governments and the management of the Fathima Medical College treated the students who lost their precious year in their academic career and money.
While the other Opposition parties, particularly YSR Congress party, is taking the Naidu government to task for mishandling the issue and failing to file proper counter in the Supreme Court, Pawan virtually pleaded with the chief minister.
“Please sir. I request you to stand by them and give them speedy justice,” Pawan said in his tweet.
“So, I earnestly request Hon.ble CM of AP Sri CBN garu to stand by Fatima medical college students who had already paid a hefty price in terms of money and valuable academic time which they had already lost.
And kindly give a solace to their already hardworking parents who had paid hefty fees to the college management from their lifetime toil of their sweat and blood. But due to management’s seemingly intentional wrongdoing, innocent students shouldn’t suffer,” he said.
Pawan made a few other tweets on the issue, but nowhere did he sound harsh in his criticism. In fact, he never appeared to be criticising the government but only making appeals to Naidu. He blamed it on the system that led to the present crisis.
It clearly shows Pawan does not want to emerge as a strong political rival of Naidu, but a supplementary force to split the anti-incumbency!
