Chiyaan Vikram’s upcoming film is Iru Mugan. Nayanthara and Nithya Menen played the female leads in the film. The film directed by Anand Shankar. The makers are very much happy and excited with the way the film was made. The film has Vikram playing dual roles. In one of the roles, he will be seen as a RAW agent and in the other role he will be seen as a Transgender. The transgender role has negative shades too. Vikram is highly confident that the film is going to be a big hit. He is following a sentiment now that if a hero plays both the protagonist and antagonist in the film, the film becomes a hit.

The same happened in the past with Vikram’s Aparichithudu. Also with Ajith’s Vaali, Rajinikanth’s Robo and Kamal Haasan’s Dasavatharam. The film is slated for a release in the month of September.

Hillary slams Trump’s economic proposal

“His tax plans would give super big tax breaks to large corporations and the really wealthy,” Ms. Clinton said.Hillary Clinton offered a simple reply to Donald Trump’s economic address Monday- “Don’t let a friend vote Trump.”

At a rally in St. Petersburg, Florida, Ms. Clinton said the plans Mr. Trump outlined earlier in Detroit would push the country back into recession, warning that his plans benefit the rich and do little to create jobs or boost the economy.“His tax plans would give super big tax breaks to large corporations and the really wealthy,” Ms. Clinton said, characterizing the proposals, which include substantial tax cuts, as “trickle-down economics.”

“You know that old saying: Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me,” she said.Ms. Clinton countered with her own economic proposals, saying she wants to invest in public works projects and more educational opportunities and will tax top earners to pay for her plans. She is expected to speak to the Detroit Economic Club on Thursday.

“I have said throughout this campaign I am not going to raise the taxes on the middle class, but with your help we are going to raise it on the wealthy,” said Ms. Clinton. At a rally later in the day in Kissimmee, Florida, Ms. Clinton continued her criticism, saying that Mr. Trump “hasn’t offered any plans on infrastructure besides building a wall and having Mexico pay for it.” She also stressed her commitment to small businesses, asking “would you rather have a president who says you’re fired or you’re hired?”

Earlier Monday, Ms. Clinton toured a brewery as a way of highlighting her commitment to small businesses. She plans to campaign in Miami Tuesday, as part of a two-day tour through battleground Florida, home of 29 electoral votes.Ms. Clinton is focusing on jobs and the economy at campaign events. Aides say they hope to build on polls showing Ms. Clinton gaining ground on economic issues, which have made up the core of Mr. Trump’s campaign message.

“We are not interested in economic plans that only help the top 1 percent,” Ms. Clinton said in St. Petersburg.Ms. Clinton is putting a heavy focus on Florida with travel and television advertising. President Barack Obama narrowly won the state in 2012. At her Kissimmee event, she pledged to support Puerto Rico, saying she would do all she could to put it “back on a path of prosperity.”

While there, Ms. Clinton also plans to meet with health professionals combatting the Zika virus. She said she would meet with people on the “front line of Zika” on Tuesday.“Washington cannot keep ignoring the needs of the families of Florida,” Ms. Clinton said. The Republican-controlled Congress left Washington in mid-July for a seven-week recess without approving any of the $1.9 billion Mr. Obama requested in February to develop a vaccine and control the mosquitoes that carry the virus. Abortion politics played a central role in the impasse.

Is Erdogan trying to supplant Ataturk?

Share

piv

Last month’s failed coup may allow the Turkish President to cement his Islamist narrative in the national consciousness.President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has always had ambitions of surpassing Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, as the country’s most consequential figure.

Now, a failed coup may allow him finally to do that.

For years, Mr. Erdogan, an Islamist, has celebrated great moments of the Ottoman past when Istanbul was the seat of the Islamic caliphate, and played down Turkey’s secular history established by Ataturk.Consolidating powerWith last month’s failed coup, he now has his own story, and he has wasted little time propagating his own set of events and symbols to cement the narrative in the national consciousness.

A bridge over the Bosporus that was seized by renegade soldiers has been renamed for the civilians killed there. A square in Ankara, occupied by tanks as the military tried to take power, has been renamed as a symbol of democracy. Numerous street names have been changed to honor those who died defending the government.

Pro-government news media outlets have published thick volumes about the coup, celebrating the victims as national heroes, and the state broadcaster is making a documentary. Statues and monuments are planned, and next July 15, the anniversary of the failed coup, will be a national holiday. The conspirators have their place, too. Far on the outskirts of Asian Istanbul, on a plot of gravelly land near a dog shelter, graves have been dug for felled coup plotters in what is being called “the cemetery for traitors”.

‘New Turkey’Mr. Erdogan’s purpose is to ensure not only that nothing is lost to history, but also that this latest chapter in Turkey’s history will be largely owned by his Islamist supporters. In doing so, analysts say, he has found an opportunity to celebrate what he has long called the “New Turkey” — a modern nation that emphasises Islam and is a break from the country’s secular past.Kerem Oktem, a Turkish historian at the University of Graz in Austria, described it as “a narrative of an Islamist defence of democracy”.

The narrative is one of heroic defiance in the name of Islam, against foreign powers. But there is a twist: In Mr. Erdogan’s telling, the coup was led not by the old secular elite, but by followers of Fethullah Gulen, a cleric who heads a rival Islamist movement and lives in self-exile in Pennsylvania.

The coup attempt, and how it was defeated by crowds of Erdogan supporters and even some secularists who flooded the streets to stand up to the soldiers, has already been referred to as Turkey’s second war of independence. The first one, led by Ataturk, followed the collapse of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I and was at the centre of constructing a Turkish identity centred on secular and nationalist principles. — New York Times News Service

Apple will soon be launching its much awaited flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7. With the launch date inching closer, the leaks are pouring in at an alarming rate. Now a new report has surfaced suggesting the integration of a new home button in the upcoming model.According to a new report by known Journalist, Mark Gurman, the smartphone will come with support for haptic feedback integrated in the home button. The report also confirms the exclusion of the 3.5 mm headphone jack and a dual camera setup.

Gurman believes, Apple will go for Bluetooth earpods and will bring dual speakers at the bottom of the phone. The report claims that the dual camera setup will not appear on the smaller variant of the smartphone. The dual camera will expose images in different colour set-up, resulting in better low light images. The same setup was seen on the recently launched Huawei P9 smartphone.

The naming of the next model is still the big question. Apple is unlikely to launch this model as iPhone 7, so there is a possibility will keep it a part of the iPhone 6 lineup.Among many rumours, another rumour suggests that Apple will drop its 16GB storage option in favour of a 32 GB option, aimed to provide sufficient capacity.

The company has designed its models with a 16GB of storage capacity since 2011’s 4s, but as apps and photos takes more space on the device, many people have criticised that the 16GB storage capacity is not enough. The device will be unveiled next month, and we will have to wait and watch which of these features actually come to life.

With only a month left for the official launch of Apple’s 2016 flagship, widely referred to as iPhone 7, rumours and speculations continue to quench fans’ thirst for implicit details. Of course, Apple is a pro in keeping all the product details under a tight lid until after the launch, but that hasn’t stopped from various inside sources to give us a sneak peak at what to expect.

We have already heard a lot about the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but here’s something that will make you jump harder in joy as you wait for the official release of the new flagships. The new iPhones are expected to be launched in early September in the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, while the international release will follow within the next few days and weeks.

In the latest development about iPhone 7 rumours, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman learnt some interesting facts about the unreleased phones. Citing people familiar with the matter, Gurman said the iPhone 7 at large will be similar to the current generation iPhones in terms of design, but undergo massive hardware and software related changesThe first major change expected in the new iPhone is the dual camera setup, which will only be seen in the larger “Plus” variant. The dual camera sensors will capture colours differently and produce a detailed photograph by merging two photos. Gurman noted that this will also enhance low-light photography.

Although this isn’t the first time we have heard about the dual cameras for the upcoming iPhones, Gurman’s confirmation adds more value to the ongoing rumours.Another noteworthy change in the new iPhones is going to be the updated home button, which will feature Macbook-style pressure-sensitive home button, the sources said. Bloomberg also noted that the new iPhones will indeed ditch the headphone jack and replace it with Bluetooth and charging port connectivity. The rear antenna lines will be removed for a plain finish.

From what we have learnt so far, the new iPhones will come in 4.7 and 5.5-inch variants, upgraded A10 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB base storage option. There is nothing concrete on the pricing of the iPhone 7, but MobiPicker claimed that the base model will cost ¥5,258 (around $802 or Rs. 53,000) and the 64GB and 256GB models will be priced at ¥6,088 (around $924, Rs. 61,000), ¥7,088 (around $1075 or Rs. 71,000), respectively. The Indian pricing of the handset will differ as it is not based purely on the conversion rates of the currencies.

chey

Milky beauty Tamanna, who paired alongside Naga Chaitanya in hit films ‘100% Love’ and ‘Tadakha’, will romance him for the third time.

It is known that Chaitu will do a film titled ‘Kalyanam’ in the direction of Kalyan Krishna of ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ fame. For this film, Samantha was first considered, but Rakul Preet’s name was heard later. As Rakul is busy with a handful of projects, she couldn’t adjust her dates, so milky beauty has been roped in.

Inside talk is that Tamannah is fixed and no other heroine’s name will be attached to this project from now on. The Chaitu-Tamanna pair has already delivered 2 hits and if they can make ‘Kalyanam’ a hit film, it will be a hat-trick for them. Kalyanam will soon go on floors.
