Director Allegations on Sharwanand!

Share

Tamil director-producer Cheran has leveled some serious allegations against actor Sharwanand who is usually soft and maintains distance from controversies. Cheran alleged that Sharwa hasn’t cooperated for the publicity of his film Rajadhi Raja that released last week after a lot of hurdles.

“I was hurt after learning that hero Sharwanand and producer Sravanthi Ravikishore were resorting to bad propaganda on the film. I had roped in for the film when he didn’t have hits. I agreed to pay him Rs 1 Crore as his remuneration and paid Rs 55 Lakh for him. Still I need to pay him another Rs 45 Lakh. He hasn’t come for the promotion of Rajadhi Raja. He didn’t even turn up for the film’s audio launch. Is this the respect he’s giving for the producer who had trusted him and invested crores on him? I’m still maintaining that Sharwanand is good actor. But such acts of him demean his value, stature. Initially, Sravanthi Ravikishore was producer for the film. He used to interfere in my job. He had asked me that he’d cut the film’s trailer and I didn’t agree as it was my job. He had dropped from the film’s production. With this, the film was stalled for a year. After facing many hurdles, I myself managed to finish the film. Telugu producer Venkatesh has come forward to see the film and bought the film only after impressed with it. Sharwa didn’t respond even after my repeated attempts to invite him for film promotion. I had sent him 25 smses and he hasn’t replied to even one of them. I’ve never told him that I won’t pay the remaining fee. But he had stated that he has no connection with the film. I felt bad as a good film wasn’t promoted well and there was no cooperation when a new director was debuting into Telugu. Producer Venkatesh had great difficulty in releasing the film. When we approached heroine to promote the film, she had said she’d come for promotion only if hero comes. Was she cast by producer or Hero?”

“When my daughter was in a problem, Sharwa had helped her out. I treated him as my younger brother. But today, he’s a changed man. I don’t want to complain against Sharwa or heroine or Ravikishore in the matter. Rajadhi Raja is a good film. Few heroes, directors from Telugu have called me and appreciated the film. Without publicity, we did good job. Had hero, heroine cooperated, we’d have tasted bigger success,” Cheran briefed media persons in Chennai at a press conference. With Cheran coming out in open and leveling allegations, Sharwa is now in a spot. It’s time for Sharwa to react on Cheran’s fresh allegations.

Nani’s rare feat @ US Box Office

Natural Star Nani’s Gentleman had amassed $855K at US Box Office which makes the film a break-even venture for the Overseas buyers. Given that the next two weeks have no notable releases and holiday season there, the movie is likely to have an extended run making it a profitable venture for the trade there.

This is the third profitable venture on trot for the actor in Overseas. His previous two films – Bhale Bhale Magadivoy and Krishna Gadi Veera Prema Gadha have also ended up in profits. Three consecutive profitable ventures is a difficult task even for star heroes these days but Nani managed it proving to be a bankable hero.

In domestic markets, except for Nellore, the buyers of all the areas of Gentleman are in profits. The thriller film started with a mixed talk on its release day but went on strength to strength. The no competition period at the box office after its release also helped the film to a great extent.

Hasina pays respects to victims of attack

Bangladesh’s Prime Minister on Monday visited a stadium where the bodies of the victims from the weekend attack in Bangladesh’s capital were taken, as security officials search for evidence and the possible masterminds behind the attack. The incident that began as a hostage-taking on an upscale restaurant left 28 dead, including six attackers and 20 of the hostages. The government has denied the Islamic State group’s claim of responsibility for the attack.

Police have released photographs of the bodies of five attackers, along with their first names- Akash, Badhon, Bikash, Don and Ripon. The men belonged to the banned domestic group Jumatul Mujahedeen Bangladesh, or JMB, and their families hadn’t heard from them in months, according to police. Asked whether they might also have had Islamic State ties, Police Inspector General A.K.M. Shahidul Hoque said authorities were investigating that possibility.

Despite the police saying IS links were being investigated, the home minister refuted the possibility that the Islamic State group directed the attack from abroad. The government says the extremist Sunni Muslim group based in Syria and Iraq has no presence in the country, and in the past has suggested that any claims of responsibility for violence waged in the South Asian country are simply opportunistic attempts at grabbing global attention.

“They are all Bangladeshis. They are from rich families, they have good educational background,” Khan said of the attackers. One surviving suspect was detained when paramilitary forces ended the 10-hour standoff Saturday morning, and authorities said he was being interrogated. The siege marked an escalation in the militant violence that has hit Bangladesh with increasing frequency. Most of the attacks in the past several months have involved machete-wielding men singling out individual activists, foreigners and religious minorities.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has blamed her political opponents of trying to create chaos by backing domestic militants.“Anyone who believes in religion cannot do such an act,” Ms. Hasina said Saturday. “They do not have any religion, their only religion is terrorism.”The 20 hostages who were killed included nine Italians, seven Japanese, three Bangladeshis and one Indian teenager. Two police officers were killed by the attackers, and 13 people were rescued when commandos stormed the Holey Artisan Bakery on Saturday morning. Another 25 officers and one civilian were wounded, and some of the rescued hostages had injuries. There was no information on their conditions.

The attack was the worst in the recent series of attacks by radical Islamists in the moderate, mostly Muslim nation of 160 million. Unlike the previous attacks, the assailants were well-prepared and heavily armed with guns, bombs and sharp objects that police later said were used to torture some of the 35 captives. That the attackers targeted a popular restaurant in the heart of the diplomatic quarter of Bangladesh’s capital signalled a change in tactics. The restaurant overlooking a lake serves Spanish food and is patronized by residents of Gulshan, an affluent neighbourhood where most of the foreign embassies are located.

The hostages were asked to recite verses from the Quran, to prove themselves Muslim, according to a witness. Those who passed were allowed to eat. Those who failed were tortured and slain.Western embassies issued travel warnings to their citizens, advising those in the country to be vigilant and avoid places frequented by foreigners in the diplomatic zone. The U.S. Embassy also urged its citizens and personnel to avoid traveling on foot or in open vehicles exposed to potential attackers.

In its claim of responsibility, the Islamic State group said its operatives had targeted the citizens of “Crusader countries” in the attack, warning that citizens of such countries would not be safe “as long as their warplanes kill Muslims.” The statement was circulated in a manner consistent with past IS claims of responsibility.

119 dead as car bomb rips through Baghdad shoppers

Ahead of holiday

The blast hit the Karrada district early in the day as the area was packed with shoppers ahead of this week’s holiday marking the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. It came a week after Iraqi security forces recaptured Fallujah from IS, leaving Mosul as the only Iraqi city under the jihadist group’s control. The bombing also wounded more than 180 people, security officials said.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi visited the site of the attack and vowed “punishment” for the perpetrators, his office said.Abadi’s office later announced three days of mourning for the victims. The blast set buildings ablaze, and firemen were still working to extinguish them some 12 hours later.
Men carried the bodies of two victims out of one burned building and a crowd of people looked on from the rubble-filled street as emergency personnel worked at the site.

A member of the civil defence forces said that it would take “a number of days” to recover the bodies of the victims.Hussein Ali, a 24-year-old former soldier, said six workers at his family’s shop were killed, their bodies so badly burned they could not be identified.”I will return to the battlefront. At least there, I know the enemy so I can fight him. But here, I don’t know who I’m fighting,” Ali told AFP.IS issued a statement claiming responsibility for the suicide bombing, saying it was carried out by an Iraqi as part of “ongoing security operations”.

– ‘Cowardly and heinous act’ -The jihadist group said the blast targeted Iraq’s Shiite Muslim majority, whom the Sunni extremists consider heretics and frequently attack in Baghdad and elsewhere.UN Iraq envoy Jan Kubis condemned the “cowardly and heinous act of unparallelled proportions,” calling on authorities to bring those responsible to justice.Officials said another explosion in the Shaab area of northern Baghdad killed at least one person and wounded four on Sunday, but the cause of the blast was disputed.US National Security Council spokesperson Ned Price said the attacks “only strengthen our resolve to support Iraqi security forces as they continue to take back territory” from IS.

Bombings in the capital have decreased since IS overran large areas north and west of Baghdad in June 2014, with the jihadists apparently occupied with operations elsewhere. But the group has struck back against Iraqi civilians after suffering military setbacks.A video posted on social media showed men — apparently angry at the government’s failure to prevent the carnage in Karrada — throwing rocks at what was said to be Abadi’s convoy.A bystander could also be heard cursing at Abadi in another video. But the premier struck a conciliatory tone over anger directed towards him.

“I understand the emotional feelings and actions that occurred in a moment of sadness and anger,” Abadi said in a statement. In May, Baghdad was rocked by a series of blasts that killed more than 150 people in seven days.- IS defeat in Fallujah -With thousands of vehicles moving in and out of the city each day, such bombings are difficult to prevent. But there are also flaws in security measures in the city, especially the continued use of fake bomb detectors at checkpoints years after the man who sold them to Iraq was jailed for fraud in Britain.

Iraqi forces completely recaptured Fallujah, a city 50 kilometres (30 miles) west of Baghdad, from the jihadists a week ago.Anti-government fighters seized Fallujah in early 2014 and it later became one of IS’s main strongholds in the country.IS’s defeat there was compounded by a devastating series of air strikes targeting jihadist forces as they sought to flee the Fallujah area.Iraqi and US-led coalition aircraft destroyed hundreds of IS vehicles and killed dozens of fighters in two days of strikes against jihadist convoys after the end of the Fallujah battle, officials said.

With Fallujah retaken, Iraqi forces are now setting their sights on second city Mosul, the last major population centre held by IS in Iraq.In addition to Mosul, IS still holds significant territory in Nineveh province, of which it is the capital, as well as areas in Kirkuk to its west and Anbar to its south. The jihadist group seized control of large parts of Iraq and Syria in mid-2014, declaring an Islamic “caliphate”, committing widespread atrocities and organising or inspiring a series of deadly attacks in Western cities and across the Middle East.

‘Wrist-worn fitness trackers underestimate exercise levels by up to 40%’

Fitness freaks, take note! Popular wrist-worn bands may underestimate exercise levels by up to 40 per cent, a new study has found.Researchers from the University of Queensland (UQ) in Australia determined the accuracy of several popular wrist-worn fitness monitors.“None of the devices proved to be consistently accurate overall and the percentage error for energy expenditure was between nine and 43 per cent. Measurement of heart rate was more accurate, with only minor variances,” said Matthew Wallen of UQ’s School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences.

“Combining these two factors, it shows there are limits to how much trust we can place in such devices to monitor energy balance and, therefore, to serve as weight loss aids.”Testing for the study involved 22 healthy volunteers (even split of males and females) completing a variety of activities — ranging from running, cycling and walking, to seated and laying rest — for a period of approximately one hour.

The measurements of the wrist-worn devices were compared to electrocardiography readings every 15 seconds and against a portable gas analysis system which measured the number of calories burnt. As per manufacturer instructions, each of the wrist-worn devices was individualised to reflect the user’s age, gender, height and weight.

Now, post on Facebook in multiple languages

face

Millions of Facebook users will soon be able to connect with more people around the world by sharing their posts and comments in multiple languages. The world’s largest social networking site announced that its own developers have built a multilingual composer. The tool enables users to compose a single post that will appear in multiple languages. Other users will see that post in their preferred language.

“People use Facebook to share information and ideas in many different languages,” the Facebook team wrote in a blog post. “In fact, 50 per cent of our community speaks a language other than English and most people don’t speak each other’s languages, so we’re always thinking about ways we can help remove language as a barrier to connecting on Facebook.”A user test has already started and anyone in the test group can enable the multilingual composer by going to the Language section of their Account Settings. The composer, Facebook noted, is only available for desktops now, but others can view the multilingual posts across all platforms.

According to Facebook, while the site is just beginning to test the service with individual users, they began testing it with pages earlier this year. The “multilingual composer,” as the feature is called, allows you to write a post in one language and then choose additional languages in which you would like it to be published. If you write a post in English but publish it in Spanish, for example, any of your friends or followers who use Facebook in Spanish would see that Spanish translation of your post. The new composer, which will work for all permutations of the 45 languages Facebook currently translates, is beginning to roll out.

A new feature uses automatic translation software to help people post Facebook updates in multiple languages at the same time. Users viewing a post made that way are shown the version most likely to be readable to them in light of their own past language use and settings. The new feature is also designed to provide Facebook with valuable new data to help its translation software convert slang and other colloquial language from one language to another. That could improve the company’s automatic translations of short posts and comments from friends not using your language.

“The multilingual-post option that rolled out today was inspired by the fact that many people already write posts in multiple languages. But they had to either write multiple versions of a message in one post or create separate posts-strategies that tend to reduce the chance anyone would respond,” said Fazil Ayan, who leads work on Facebook’s translation software.

Four releases for Sunil this year

Share

sunil

Comedian turned hero Sunil is likely to have four releases this year. He already had Krishnashtami in February. His other film, Jakkanna is all complete except for a song. The song is being canned from today and the movie will see light very soon. Eedu Gold Ehe, Sunil’s other project with Veeru Potla is also nearing completion.

The movie is complete except for few scenes and a song. The shooting will be wrapped up by August end and the makers are planning Dussehra release for the movie. The actor is also shooting for another film, tentatively titled Ungarala Rambabu in the direction of Malli Malli Idhi Rani Roju fame Kranthi Madhav.

Ungarala Rambabu will also release towards the end of the year. So in all probability, Sunil will have four release this year which is rare feat. If Sunil is serious adding one more film to the tally may not be difficult as well. Incidentally, the actor did not have a single release last year.

Raviteja’s next – a rehabilitation project?

Share

ravi

Nothing seem to be going in Raviteja’s way these days. The actor opted for a long break after his last film, Bengal Tiger. He had a film, Yevado Okadu which was shelved after its launch. He planned ‘Robinhood’ in the direction of a new comer, Chakri after that and even travelled with the director for few months.

But then reports are emerging that the movie is shelved now. The actor may be doing his next film with Bobby who previously worked with him for Power. The movie is the biggest hit in Raviteja’s career till date. Things are also not well for Bobby. After Power, he directed Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh which ended up as a big disaster.

So this project is a sort of rehabilitation project for both the actor and director. Kona Venkat is likely to lend script for the film. Kona and Bobby are in Script discussions. If every thing goes well, the official announcement of the project will come out very soon. This film is extremely important for Raviteja as well as Bobby now.
