Bharateyudu was one film which created a trend in the 90’s. Everything about the film was a huge hit and this film put Shankar on top of the pedestal in South India. News reports from the past few years have been suggesting that the producer A M Ratnam is eager to make the sequel to it.
Now, Chennai circles suggest that A R Ratnam has got a go ahead from both Kamal Haasan and Shankar about the film. A R Ratnam in an interview revealed in Chennai that Shankar had personally met Kamal Haasan at his home and narrated him a line to which the star hero was quite excited and asked him to go ahead with the film.
Shankar will start work on this project once he wraps up his big budget flick Robot 2.0 with Rajnikanth. Bharateeyudu had Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar as the female leads but it was the Kamal Haasan in an old man’s get up which stole all the limelight for his look, performance and patriotic character.
